  1. It was pretty amazing Round2 reissued all three (not counting the Mr Speed F/C kit) of AMT's Studebaker kits within the last few years, but I'm glad they did. The decal sheets in both 1/25 scale kits are fantastic, too.
  2. Thanks, Rob. Those are really going to fill out the Datsun pickup's wheel wells I suspect.
  3. Are the "new" ROund2 tampo printed Goodyear GT Radial tires the same as one of their newer Goodyear Polyglas GT tires with a different model name on the sidewall? It looks like just that from the glimpse I got of the tread in Chris' video, but it's hard to tell for sure.
  4. More info here, Peter: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/121212-more-on-molotow-pens/?page=1
  5. Yes, the four Goodyear Blue Streak Stock Car Special tires shown in Stef's post above. After viewing Chris' video review, it does appear the custom wheels (which Round2 re-created for this kit) aren't nearly as deep as the originals. Maybe that was Round2's plan all along considering they tooled up the Goodyear GT Radial tires and have used use them on very few kits...only the Chevy Monza Original Art Series kit comes to mind.
  6. Here's a good look at the last issue of this kit and what to expect from it: https://modelingmadness.com/scott/cars/500.htm That chassis detail, tho...
  7. This is probably one of the best kits I've ever built, even though it's hardly the most detailed. Fit is perfect on everything, and the biggest challenge was painting the frit on that one-piece window piece. The car itself is gorgeous, and still looks fantastic twenty plus years later, but Tamiya nailed this one. Honestly, I would suggest building it mostly box stock using the PE parts, and maybe changing the wheels and tires out if you like. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
  8. It does seem like it'd be from some type of high end model (Continental, Imperial, etc) with such a fancy seat design on it. I thought AMT Monte Carlo, but those all seam to be molded with the console. Most of the early AMT Continentals have a full tub interior with the seats molded in, and the '65 Continental is very similar, but the center section looks different looking at the part on an eBay listing.
  9. I had zero desire to go the wood look route with this boat and an AMT '57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop body on hand, so I started measuring, marking, and then cutting. The width of the roof at the C-pillars was barely narrower than the boat's deck width in that area, but it fit. I probably should've taken a wedge slice out of the roof to narrow it a bit at the rear, but chose to preserve the stock rear window opening and trim instead. A 409 Chevy V8 will power the boat, but will be mostly hidden, so I'm going to keep it simple. I don't want to overdo the customizing, but still want to add some pieces/details to visually lengthen the boat a bit...we'll see what happens as things progress. Below is one (I'm assuming) vintage AMT customizing tail fin idea I set on the roof to see how it looks: I did also find two dash panels with gauges (or holes for gauges) and that funky custom steering wheel from some AMT kit we all have in our parts stash:
  10. Can anyone identify which kit this bench seat came from?: *edit* AMT '67 Lincoln Continental
  11. Better be Blackjack or Clove. Yeah, I'm with you and the others on the "who pays retail" line of thinking. I'm not saying I never do, but it's rare that I don't buy an older issue on the secondary market instead of a new reissue, or, I just wait a few months or years when the price usually drops $10 or so. My goodness, you can buy the Monogram Datsun 4x4 pickup for $7.99(!) on eBay right now, and that was reissued just over three years ago. Here's a forthcoming Round2 reissue taken directly from a website, and let's all note the price: MPC887 MPC *** COMING JANUARY 2018 *** Jeep Commando "Mount 'N Goat" (Model Kit) 20% Off! (was $26.95) 1:25 $21.56 I have no problem paying $30 for a new reissue if the kit has a better/fuller/expanded decal sheet, extra pad printed tires, and isn't laden with mold flash on every third part, but as with all kits IMHO, subject trumps everything else. I did pay $31.00 for the reissued 1/20 AMC AMX kit at Hobbytown USA, which is a dollar or two more than I could've found one on eBay listed for, but there's also the instant gratification which only comes with an in-person purchase. There are always other options if you don't need it NOW and don't want to pay full retail.
  12. The 1/25 MPC '86 Chevy El Camino SS with Dirtbike, kit #888, is due to be reissued in February 2018...not sure which dirtbike will be included, though. Maybe one of the bikes from the AMT Dirtbike Parts Pack?
  13. Pretty much the same content as previous issues, save for the decals, which you can get a good look at on the Stevens' issue box art model.
  14. Yes, the Commando kit is the same as found in the Auto Scape version:
  15. The 1/25 MPC "Mount 'N Goat" Jeep Commando kit is scheduled for reissue in 2018 as MPC kit #887, presumably with this box art: Here's the previous Stevens International reissue (and the kit the original post pertains to):
  16. Yes, it is. I picked up two of the Stevens reissues when they were $13 or so at Tuesday Morning, and opened one up to find it was both molded in white and better than I remembered. I don't recall seeing much flash on the most recent reissue, though, but there were heavy sink marks on three of the four stock chrome plated wheel covers which remain in the kit. IIRC the body shell had a cardboard support taped to it to prevent breakage/warpage, too. The leaf springs are actually quite nice IMHO...pics in another topic.
  17. No, not that long, but it was last reissued as one of those limited runs by Stevens International in 2006.
  18. That's a good point, Darin.. On the flip side, Revell has been willing to create new variants based on existing tooling before (1/24 '70 Boss 302 & Mach1, '70 Road Runner, '71 GTX) so they could go either way. Not sure which other '69 or '70 variants they could get out of new tooling, though.
  19. Is there a chance? Probably, but the last time the kit was produced was 1980 IIRC, so who knows what condition the molds are in, if all the various inserts for each version are present, etc. Maybe someone should e-mail Ed Sexton and ask if it's possible?
  20. That's fine with me, as it's one of the best kits of that era from AMT IMHO, and my go-to kit when I need a nicely detailed, modern-era Pontiac V-8. Considering Round2 has two sizes of Goodyear Polyglas GT tires to choose from, this homage reissue seems like a no-brainer for them.
  21. *JO-HAN '69 Road Runner Custom grille*
  22. The MPC Daytona Transporter kit also has the OHC Pontiac inline six-cylinder engine, which you can get a decent look at here: http://round2corp.com/model-kit-instructions/uploads/mpc787.pdf From the Cybermodler Online site's reviews section:
