  1. I asked Ed Sexton a few years ago about the Big Drag specifically, and he thought an insert or two was missing and would need to be re-created to reissue the original Big Drag kit. Were/are the parts specific to the Big Drag also available in the separate 1/8 scale parts packs Monogram offered?
  2. Yes, yes you (well, I, us, we all...you get the picture) we need to get this going again. Three years really flies by in the blink of an eye.
  3. Rob, did you see the T-a-T-T in person at a FL show, by chance? I recall either Ron or someone (might've been you?) mentioned the model would be at a FL show a few months ago. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything from Ron, even after sending him an e-mail very recently, so hopefully he's finished up with it and getting ready to mail it to me.
  4. I think the version prior to the monster truck was the "Scavenger" "tow truck", like so: There will still be some stock goodies and a few still-close-to-stock parts, but the hinged nose is the real deal breaker here. I *think* the monster truck specific suspension is shared with MPC's other monster truck kits of the era (Dodge pickup, El Camino), too, so I guess if you've been wanting a set of Rockwell axles you'll be happy about this reissue.
  5. Yes, the stock parts (even if just the '77 and back Pacer nose) would be most welcome. I'm sure we'll see all the above again, eventually.
  6. I thought all the AMT mid-'70s cars went full custom at the end of their runs?:
  7. Why is a rant about not being thanked in General Discussion? It only seems fair if other long term members are publicly scolded about not posting in the proper place, all members should receive the same treatment, for the sake of consistency, right? Oh look, it's deja vu all over again. :
  8. It looks like the real car used Firestone tires, but there are some vintage Tamiya Goodyears (as well as some F1 Firestones) available which might be closer to the real thing, just FYI:
  9. I would argue the F&F franchise/brand is quite successful, and that tie-ins, such as model kits based on the movie cars, follow suit. I highly doubt Revell would pursue the licensing for the F&F brand a second time if they were money losers the first time around. While the 40+ age crowd might form the majority of Revell's customers, they aren't going to ignore the rest of their customer base, either. The F&F series is absolutely aimed at the 8-35 year old demographic, and vehicles like the Honda Civic EK series are considered classics to younger generations, so it makes sense to reissue them with F&F branding and with F&F 8 due in theaters next year. It's good timing and smart business. Both versions of this kit will sell very well IMHO. I'll buy one of each without hesitation, even if I only buy the F&F version for the wheels.
  10. I can see the texture, though it appears to be mostly buried under a cost of paint or two, perhaps intentionally.
  11. ^Bingo. The torque boxes are now molded completely closed and the K-member up front is definitely different, so same master pattern/design specs, slightly different model...much like the '32 Fords and Rat Roaster IMHO. I'm sure that grill can be worked with until the stock version comes out, which, based on past history ('67 Camaro grille/surround), may be a moot point.
  12. Wait, what!? As in, the greenhouse is a separate piece from the lower body shell, much like the Monogram 1/24 '30/'34/'36 Ford kits??
  13. I wonder if something's been heavily modified or a significant portion this kit is missing. I can't find the image, but I think it was in the '96 issue of SAE containing the forthcoming releases, and within the article was a picture of a '72 Road Runner roundy-round (Grand American or whatever it was called) car in Petty Blue...but it never happened. 1987(!) was the last time the MPC '71 Plymouth Roadrunner was available, IIRC. As for the "Super Charger" kit, I doubt it would be a hot for Round2. The '71 R/T has been reissued twice since 2009, and is far nicer is every respect, so maybe Round2 isn't willing to devote it resources to a kit which to the average buyer looks a lot like the '71 R/T?
  14. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-83-Hurst-Oldsmobile-plastic-1-25-scale-Special-Edition-car-model-kit4317-/282006135265?hash=item41a8e021e1%3Ag%3ArAEAAOSw3mpXERa3&nma=true&si=dqp1qInwMLujkbPBH56jQB0Dh%2Fk%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Looks like all four sold. Probably that Kevin guy from Ohio!
  15. I agree. The '68 Charger R/T kit includes two hoods, so why not the '70, too? Assuming this '70 Charger kit is the diecast version now in plastic, I hope it's not going to end up like the '77 Trans Am and '70 Challenger R/T-T/A kits, though, which were one and done...thankfully.
  16. It's out, or at least available on eBay now.
  17. The F&F Charger was never an R/T, so if Revell's kit is true to the movie car, it won't have any R/T specific parts. I would expect a few compromises, though, and I swear I saw a pic of the model with the headlight doors in the closed position, so I expect to see a model which is a good starting point to build a '70 Charger R/T, but not a perfect example right out of the box.
  18. The '80 Road Runner had very minimal "road runner" stickers and some stripes at the wheel arches, rear spoiler, etc., so don't expect too much:

  20. Frank promoting Revell?...I need to sit down and rest a bit. Looks like the die-cast F&F '70 Charger, now in polystyrene.
