I sure hope for round 2 to reissue that one as they are getting tougher to come by I know I could use 6 or 10 of them -

Seeing that Jim Wabils big W decal in the back window of the wagon lets you know it’s a tough competitor -
This is a box stock johan challenger funny car with testors white enamel and stang 1 forever decals. These old Johan funny cars were so good they pretty much fall right together with very accurate bodies to boot. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

Sox & Martin 1964 A/FX Mercury Comet Caliente
M W Elky replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Scott this is a great project theses are the same kits i bashed together for these comet builds. I hope these pics help you out . I got the resin hood from SMH hobbies. Unfortunately the Howard wheels are modelhaus and are no longer available, and I don’t know any other makers. The exhaust dump pipes are in the amt 62 belair super stock kit . It’s been awhile since I built this and the moebius comet wasn’t available then. I used the amt interior, but the moebius interior tub might be a better option. -

Those are a couple of really nice Darts you’ve got there -
I read somewhere that they originally had plans to tool other bodies to fit this chassis possibly Camaro and nova. It would be a really good move for round 2 to do this. By the way you did a fine job on this one the color is spot on.

“ BUILDING THE COVERS “Vol # 81 The B&W Hydro street roadster
M W Elky posted a topic in Drag Racing
I have been waiting to build this one for quite awhile now .By building a bunch of altered’s I became reinspired to get it done. For the main kit I used The iconic AMT double T kit most of the HEMI came out of the double dragster kit , the headers are made from solder and aluminum tubing. I think they really make the build. I used the wheels out the Revell Ms Deal kit this kit also gave up it’s front wish bones which I used for the ladder bars the slicks are AMT . I made the pick up box from balsa wood. The hydro transmission , and front spring and axle are left over parts from the Atlantis Fiat . The rear housing along with the steering wheel is from the AMT 56 Ford . I made the fuel tank mount from a paper clip , and the injector scoop was a leftover part from the AMT 40 Willy’s kit. I sprayed it with Testors fiery orange with wet look clear. No decals exist for this so I did the lettering by hand. I think it’s a pretty good representation these street roadsters are a whole lotta fun to create , and right now they’re are a whole bunch of parts available to bush them together. Until next time thanks for looking ?, Mike -
I just got this one finished it’s the AMT 1966 Chevelle . The kit wheels were swapped out for some steel wheels out of the parts box I believe they are Johann . I used the headers from the old pro nova kit and the slicks are AMT. The paint job is testors white enamel. As for the decals I have no clue who made them or how old they are, but what I didn’t find out until I put them on is that the clear that they used to seal them must’ve yellowed. I’m not real happy with how they came out. Unless I can get new ones made it’s what I’m stuck with. It’s still a pretty cool replica of a seldom seen stocker . Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

I built this from a resin body I have no idea who the maker was , but it’s a really nice body a relatively thin casting which didn’t require much prep.l’m about 95% sure the master was created from the Lindburg kit . I used the AMT 1967 chevelle pro street kit for the main parts donor. The Cragar ss wheels along with the slicks and front tires were fished out of the parts box . I fashioned the injector stacks from aluminum tubing mated to a manifold I made by modifying the 8 carb manifold from the AMT double dragster kit along with a piece from the parts pack corvair engine for the finned base . The body was sprayed with plane old testors enamel. As for the decals there are no sets for this car available . So I used the ones I had left over from my 65 car build along with some hand lettering with a fine tipped Sharpie. If you’re going to build a replica of this car this issue of Super Stock is a must have as there is a good reference article along with the cover shot of this car. It looks really sweet parked next to my 65 car. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

I just got this one finished up it’s a combination of parts from the AMT model T for the body and front axle assembly with the wish bones from the Atlantis fiat . I did cut the pickup bed shorter and used the interior cover from the parts pack T .The frame and long block are from the AMT double dragster . The valve covers are are comp resin the blower is an old revell piece that been resting in my parts box for years. I’m not sure what the belt drive came from. The injector scoop is from the MPC Ohio George Mustang gasser. The rear wheels and slicks are also left overs from the Atlantis Fiat the rear is a parts box item relocated in a more forward position on the frame. I used one of the optional seats with belts from AMT’S 1964 Olds 442 hard top .I covered it with testors yellow enamel topped with decals from joe at Freemont resin. I’m really thrilled how this one came out using all leftover parts. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

This is a mostly an out of the box build with parts box wheels and AMT slicks. The paint color is Tamyia maroon and the decals are old out of production Decals by Lucas . Boy were they fragile luckily I was able to fix some of them with a gold Sharpie . If you have old Lucas decals I would strongly suggest to have micro set and micro gloss one hand as they tend curl up and fall off. Also remember to keep your water very hot I like to boil mine in an electric tea pot .Yes the original TEXAN OLDS was a 1965 442. However I figured the chances of round 2 producing a 65 442 is slim to none and slim left town. If I was building another one I would do it with a white interior as it contrast with the dark body color better. This kit builds up really easy I’m so happy to see round 2 bringing back these simple to build kits of the 1960’s . I also find the bodies to be very accurate. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

This one’s a combination of parts from The AMT double dragster and a body from the MPC bantam blast. The big slicks are from the AMT parts pack. The double dragster frame was modified to fit the bantam body shell. The long block is also double dragster with the blower pieces coming from my parts box. It’s painted with testors metallic red topped with slixx decals. This issue of DRAG RACING MAGAZINE has great reference photos with a good article about this car it also is a great reference for the GOLDEN COMMANDOS awb 65 Plymouth. Until next time thanks for looking . Mike

I’m right there with you . The boss nova will make a good parts kit and I need the Pontiac for the box art that light weight grill and those 8 lug wheels. I’ve been really hoping a 63 Bonnieville complete with royal decals
