  1. I can’t flipping believe it. Glueing front fender to hood and it slipped messing up the paint. I could scream, time to quit today.
  2. Hoooooly cow, the details just keep coming. Can’t wait to see that finished.
  3. It happens to all of us, multi color paint jobs always stress me out. You got this, be watching.
  4. I had heard of guys polishing their paint with tooth paste, but first time I seen someone use a Q-tip to control removal, great tip. Looking good.
  5. Progress today, got the chassis frame length corrected, added last crossmember. Polished the aluminum exhaust stacks with Simichrome, assembled and installed. Interior installed, all glass installed, next firewall, visor and lastly will be the mirrors.
  6. Yes, there are a couple good YouTube videos out there, I plan on watching them again. One video shows how to cut a row of rivets, how to wet them, how to make a strategic cut then pulling with these (forgot the name) to get a straight line. He made it look easy. We will see.
  7. Going to do some experiments first on my plaque. Worried if I draw a pencil line, the rivet may not stick to the leftover lead. Also the rivet carrier will be wet and May wash or smear the pencil line. But gonna try it. Will also use an offset tape line and follow it. Let ya know what I learn.
  8. The totally fabricated delivery box is ready for rows and rows of rivets then paint. Paint will be typical white with the radius painted aluminum color. I am already having anxiety over getting those rows (about 35 rows) of rivets straight. Made up a test plaque to experiment With laying down straight rows of rivets and check adhesion. Got wait until these old hands are steady enough.
  9. Floor of delivery box wrapped up with a little weathering. The walls will not get the same finish as they don’t get as dirty, the walls will get a coat of clear polyurethane, will slightly yellow the plywood.
  10. JM, this is the recipe that was given to me by a very old woodworker. This finish works best with open grain wood (such as oak) or soft wood like balsa or pine, this finish will not work well with closed grain wood (such as maple). Makes one gallon 16ounces Tung oil 16ounces Boiled Linseed oil 16ounces Polyurethane Gloss 16ounces Special Walnut Stain, Minwax 224 i use a lot of balsa and wood from pop sickle sticks, this finish works well, looks worn.
  11. I do too, it was a really old kit I bought way back for 20 bucks. Been looking for another one of those kits.
  12. Thanks Brian, you guys keep raising the bar, so I gotta do something extra to keep up.
  13. Oh….I thought about it as well, actually dug out that kit. This build has no rules, so that being said, ya never know???. Might build it up for giggles and check the fit.
  14. Yes, I have a woodworking shop in the garage and use multiple finishes. I have a wipe on finish that will darken the boards only a little. You can see the finish on this trailer.
  15. Turbo six, I have one from a late model KW and I have a resin MX15 Cummins which I bought for an upcoming project. The hood is a bit narrow for a Detroit, although it might fit. The hood is long which helps the 6 cylinder fit easy………I think. Once I get the frame together I will mock up the six, need room for a radiator and air exchanger for turbo.
  16. This group is impressive, members offering help, giving positive advise. Thanks JM and Jeff. Let you know JM.
  17. Thanks JM, but I don’t have access to a 3d printer, not even close to me. But thank you so much for the offer. Worst case scenario, I will use spring front suspension, appears most air sprung trucks use leaf spring front.
  18. Got the. Wood floor installed, walls are cut but will be glued in after paint. wood will need some finish work before final installation.
  19. You might contact Paul at ST Supply, he is making his own line of decals. Maybe he can help. https://stsupplyco.com/
  20. Parts are ordered, well at least what I could find. Could not find a1:25 scale air ride front suspension, if anyone knows where I can find one let me know, all help appreciated. Exhaust from ST Supply coming as well. now waiting for USPS
  21. Good to see you back on the bench, it is looking sooooo good
