  1. The primer worked very well, no fish eyes or problems on the resin parts. Did a test piece to make sure I can spray Tamiya gloss paint over the primer and it looks good. Sit over night, light sand on primer then start applying base color paint
  2. Outstanding build, well done
  3. I will now be using a different cab, same model but there is a slight difference in the cab width. So I made four cuts, removing material so that I can refill those areas with filler. Made a spreader bar to gently encourage the hood to be a bit wider and flatter. Cuts marked with a pencil. this gives the hood and cab a better fit. we will see if this works, if not, I may use the 5000 hood and call it good, finishing this truck.
  4. Thanks Jeff, went to the automotive paint store today and talked to them. They recommended the Duplicolor sandable primer and suggested just what you said.
  5. Same problem with my cab, just wrinkled up and with all the molded in detail of rivets and seams, you just can’t sand it down.
  6. Well this went from oh no, to oh BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, to worse, to junk. Managed to save and remove the paint on all the resin parts that where actually causing the paint problems but the gray cab itself is now junk. Luckily I have another white cab. Tomorrow I will start over. A setback for sure
  7. I need some help guys. I am trying to paint some resin cast hood and fenders. I washed the parts in hot dish soap water, paint fish eyes, I soaked the parts in the purple pond and washed, paint fish eyes. Wiped it down with lacquer thinner, paint fish eyes. Not sure what to do. Using Tamiya primer.
  8. Decided to use the Auslowe exhaust stacks, better detail and no visible seams.
  9. Going with this visor, ok maybe a bit more shaping but it’s pretty close. Finish up body work and to paint.
  10. Thank you, got long ways to go. Just can’t build a box stock truck, it’s a weakness.
  11. After 4 tries, I finally got a visor that is sorta close to the early 5600. Will need to thin the face and add a bigger radius to the front edge, then build the two braces near the center. Fits cab well but just looks to bulky yet
  12. Wow, outstanding build and detail, impressive
  13. Just ordered the two sets of longest frame rails you have listed and the Ford Cabover. Glad to see you making truck parts. May have to lengthen them, best glue?
  14. Yes sir, interested, what would be a good donor kit?
  15. Good info, how has the trailer been building up? I was thinking of picking up a couple of those kits.
  16. Thanks, I will get some ordered for upcoming projects. Any future plans to make 1/2 inch or 9/16 tall frame , 430 long, rails for heavy duty trucks suck as logging trucks, etc?
  17. What is the frame rail height? I am so glad to see you guys adding truck stuff, well done.
  18. Great detail, the effort makes a big difference, well done
  19. I just recently reorganized my work area and now after looking at the work areas you guys have, now I have more ideas to organize. It’s a never ending quest. Curious, does anyone have a work space in a dedicated shed? I have been giving thought to this idea.
  20. So cool, thanks for sharing
