  1. Neat project! Love the look of the truck, you should do a before and after - I'm starting two myself, using both versions of the Mercury conversion kit with both a long and short wheelbase truck. just got finished making the wheels steer and rotate. Using the 4x4 parts on the short wheelbase flareside
  2. Hah, it wound up red after all, well sorta, LOL! Looks great in that colour, with just the right sheen too, well done!
  3. Wow, such neat workmanship, especially with those diagonal elements! Your eyes deserve a rest, LOL!
  4. Such neat work on the grille guard and bumper, love the little loops cut into it! Nice details everywhere, sharp when made out of brass, too. Gotta ask why the separate headlight surrounds though
  5. Wow, I'm amazed at the size and scope of the project, but also at the precision cutting and alignment of the many elements in it! Do you use an aid to cutting square, are openings cut by hand and then corners filed in? I've never been able to get this kind of accuracy resulting in a lot of remediation later on in the build. Very impressive work, Tom!
  6. Hmm, you opted for the soft top version, guess this one won't be doing any brush fire duty, LOL! I assume these don't have any top fasteners, those were a neat detail on your previous build. That's a nice technique I plan to try, it looks great!
  7. That engine looks great in place, neat workmanship everywhere else too, very impressive!
  8. Nice to see a kit of the second generation bus, though I'd call it a Type2 T2
  9. I was kinda hoping you would pretty it up with red paint and some bling, LOL! Pretty basic transportation, esp. considering how flashy those woodgrained Wagoneers were back then! Nice steady progress, and looking good!
  10. Very nice detailing on the wheels and tires! Thanks for the How-To, looks easy once you see how
  11. I did steerable wheels on mine too, but no way they’re that realistic, even your tie rod look right, great job!
  12. Neat job on that lettering! Great idea though it takes some skill to cut them out so accurately! My compliments!
  13. Nice work on the engine, this kit cries out for some more detail!
  14. My compliments on the precise cutting and assembly, lots of little pieces to that box! The compartment is an interesting little detail, built right into the box, for a tool kit maybe By coincidence, I just fnished my latest Jeep build last week (have started a few kits but never seem to get too far), this was a Christmas present…
  15. Amazing how primitive the mods and box are, it looks like the low bidder did the conversions or even done in-house! A contemporary utility box would have looked much better, this one's worth building just for its novelty. Nice progress!
  16. Wow, don’t recall seeing a Chevy dually kit like that before, nice you’re bringing it back to life! I have a cab-and-a-half version, but took the body out and then lost the kit somewhere, but the dually version is really desirable! Love the added accessories too, gonna be great!
  17. Nice work so far! Looking at the 1:1 photos, these were pretty primitive mods to the stock pickup, yours are likely to look better than factory! Always liked these military pickups, having seen later GMC versions, I recall hearing them called 'Milverados', LOL Thanks for the building tips, too
  18. PLEASE DELETE EVENT ON THIS DAY. MOVED TO MARCH 20
  19. Funny how you see a Nova kit and I see an Acadian, LOL! Little bit of conversion required for that, but for now, welcome ! Remember that these kits were first issued back in the ‘60’s, though revamped recently, so don’t expect it to go together like a Tamiya, keep it simple and you’ll do okay for a first auto build. With cars it’s all about the shiny paint and chrome! Upcoming model car show in our area, and some more info at http://www.group25.org
  20. Wow, pretty amazing craftsmanship! Looking at the hood sides and fenders I see a proper scale thickness that could not be achieved with molded kit parts, well suited to the high level of detail seen everywhere else. Love the winch and cable detailing, and the realistic canvas roof, showing what can be done with imaginative use of simple materials and some know how, very inspiring!
  21. Wow, just found a 1/24 diecast on eBay, strange that I didn't see it in searches before, look for Cararama 1/24 Scale Diecast 125063 - Land Rover Defender - Blue https://www.ebay.com/itm/164805034088

  23. Wow, still lots of work ahead of you! Diecast can be cut pretty easily and seems like the easiest route to me, and if you choose to file down that hood bulge, JB Weld is the thing for filling it in, just leave a rough edge for it to bond to
  24. Looks great, so neatly done! “What people really drive…”
  25. Great reference photos, I’ve been looking to see what make the kit plow was supposed to represent, found no info here so thanks for the heads up! Hey Andre, I found some scale chain and can drop it off next time I’m out, say maybe 2” is enough? I have styrene rod too but hydraulic cylinders will take some scratch work
