Changing Gears

Neat project! For us lurkers, this thread is turning into a textbook on fire modeling, so thanks for sharing your vision! As it is, I have many of the kits used but had a couple false starts. So great to see such inspiration, wishing you success! -

Wow, it just gets better and better! The tarp is Kleenex soaked in white glue, I assume, 'man-size' Kleenex at that, LOL -

Wow, you're not afraid of a little extra work to make it right! I admire your persistence, it's paying off nicely! still a long way to go, I'm sure, thanks for the update (and inspiration!) -
You made a neat job of it! Must have been hard shaping wood to those contours. I believe the wheels were plastic, and a bit of research tells me these may have been re-issued in some form over the years. So nice to see one done, and done well!

Soldered brass, aluminum turnings, resin casting, renshape, styrene... - not many materials or techniques missing here! A true multi-media build. Nice work, and an interesting detail on the rear cab corners, something special going there? -

LOL! It just hit me that that tight fit in a plane might explain the folding windshield and canvas top a lot of these had instead of a solid roof, which would likely not fit in a plane of the time -

Hah, a split frame! We modelers do it all the time when shortening or lengthening a frame, looks much better when we hide it as we do, too, LOL! I actually have a frame that comes apart with a secret slip joint so I can swap out the rear end. Never thought a bolted joint would have been possible! Such neat work and a great detail that adds so much interest, amazing how you came up with that, in addition to your standard attention to detail! You never cease to amaze -

Wow, great progress so far! I'm amazed at the precision work on the brass along with the added plastic detail parts, right down to the fasteners, impressive! Thanks for the updates, very inspiring -
Nice job! Love the colour, wish I could decide on something for the one I started, just can’t commit to something so I love seeing yours built, well done!

Nailed it! Doesn’t get much better than that, a neat kitbash with great paint, decals, and lighting, it looks so realistic! -

Such neat paint and decals, you did a great job despite the fit issues, you’d never know it! -
Nice work so far on that one, it cleaned up so nice! What I meant was the other model, note where the break between cab and box is missing compared to the one you’re working on. If I’m right it represents the one piece body that Ford offered for only a couple of years, with integrated cab and box, I think the box sides were riveted to the cab, innovative but apparently not too popular at the time https://www.cjponyparts.com/resources/unibody-pickup-trucks

Yes! Gonna study the pics to see how you did it, as I've been collecting photos to do one just like it, almost every pickup had one back in the day -
Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
