As scrooge said... It's just an excuse to pick a man's pocket every 25th of December. But now it;s getting earlier and earlier every year.

That was a very brutal crash, I'm surprised that he's still alive after that hit. -
Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
kitbash1 replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I used this site when I built my paint booth, I did the cross vent design booth shown and used a squirrel cage fan to vent the fumes outside. It also has a furnace filter to catch the paint particles before venting fumes, lighting is a small florescent two tube fixture. The body of the booth is made of 1/2 inch plywood painted white. I built it with simple wood working tools, except for a table saw to cut the sheet of plywood into piece's. If I remember correctly, it was built, wired and painted in one day and in use a day later. Simple stuff. -

Casting resin and air bubbles
kitbash1 replied to Hawk312's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Try heating the mould in a microwave oven for 1 and a half min. and then pour your resin. Once poured, gently tap the mould on the table and let set for 10 mins more then you normally would. This should help with the pin-hole problem. -
I loved reading CarToons when I was a kid. Wasn't there a character named Flathead McGurk in that mag as well ?

If you haven't done so already, get yourself a lawyer. You can't go to court and stand before a judge without someone who knows the in's and out's of the system. Also, go to your fathers doctor and get him to sign a letter of protection saying that your father is not of sound mind because of his cancer and other illnesses. A lawyer will help you with this, the lawyer will more then likely ask the judge to have your father assessed by a outside court appointed doctor, and have your hearing put over until your father is properly assessed. Then you can get him the proper care he needs and save you and your wife any more headaches. -

Remembering back when...
kitbash1 replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I was in high school in the 70's ( 72 - 76 ) our student parking lot had a few cool cars, mustangs, dusters a couple of 55 and 57 chevy's and one or two firebirds and camaros. The coolest car belonged to a female gym teacher, who drove a Super Bee. I had a 69 Nova in my senior year, it had a 6 cylinder engine with a automatic. Not a hot rod but it was a fun car to drive. -
Yea, sometimes the line get's very blurry.

I have zero luck with yard sales and flea markets when it comes to model kits. Maybe it's a regional thing. The same for Goodwill or the Sally-Ann, I've come across nothing in the way of cars, planes, ships or military kits. I'm envious of anybody who can find kits in these places.

And this is one of the reasons that I'm cranky when it comes to Christmas. When I was a young child in the mid 60's, the stores didn't put the christmas merchandise out until after November 11 ( Remembrance Day in Canada ) or the week after. And Eaton's, the biggest department store in Canada at the time didn't officially start Christmas in their stores until they had the Santa Claus parade in Toronto and they opened the christmas windows in the downtown main store.. Then things changed. I can't remember when it started, but christmas merchandise started popping up earlier and earlier in the stores. Then I noticed that christmas was moving away from the real reason for the season, not that I'm a overly religious person or anything like that, but I was starting to get very annoyed with the commercialization of christmas. This has made me very cynical when it comes to this particular holiday. I'm in agreeance with Scrooge, that it's a holiday designed to pick a mans pocket every 24th of December, now more then ever.

Keep an eye out for stolen 62 Vette
kitbash1 replied to Scalper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The RCMP found the vette. It was found in a town just south of Calgary, in a farmer's field. The police didn't say in what condition the car was in, but the owner is very happy to get his car back. -

MPC's reissue of the McLaren Mk8d in 1/20th scale. Parts with lots of flash, ill fitting parts, brittle plastic . I've got 3 of the original issue of this kit and the one that I opened to compare the two was in better shape for a almost 40 year old kit. The only good thing in the reissue kit were the tires. Very disappointing. To build it will take alot of sanding and test fitting of parts, not to mention all the flash that needs to be removed.

That's why you keep checking the decals. But I've not had any problems with colour fade.
