  1. Experiment with your pressures on a sheet of white paper or cardboard. Set your pressure on the air regulator to around 15 or 20 PSI ( Pounds per square inch ) and shoot some paint. Your spray pattern if your air is set correctly should produce a nice spray eclipse. Too high and you will get paint drips and spider web like stray paint lines. Too low and you'll get faint spray patterns. Your best bet is to do on You Tube and look for painting tutorials. there's lot's of them on there.
  2. Because I said so !!! But seriously, when these kits were out in stores the anti tobacco and anti alcohol lobby was starting to take notice of of these kits and making noise about how these would get children to experiment with smokes and booze. What they didn't take into consideration was that the people who were buying these kits were mostly adults, and not children that they were trying to protect. The big three kit makers, Revell - Monogram, AMT / Ertel and Tamyia started to remove the offending decal sheets from their kits, and make them more ( I hate these words ) " Politicly Correct ". This is why I think that they should be regarded as collectables. The only way now to build a tobacco sponsored car is to purchase them from an aftermarket suppler such as Tabu or Studio27. Sorry for the rambling history lesson.
  3. I'd like to add my 2 cent's to the discussion. The only kits that should be considered collectables in the future, would be any kit that came with Tobacco or Beer sponsorship decals from the factory. Any Miller sponsored NASCAR or Champcar kit would qualify, as would the Marlboro McLarens, Penske's or Rothman's Williams open wheel kits.
  4. You should post a list of what you've got, as there are more than a few Indycar builders and collectors on this board. Myself included.
  5. Big Bill France is spinning in his grave cursing Brian for screwing up the money making machine that he built up over the years. I'll stick to endurance and road racing thanks.
  6. Super glue and Micro - Balloons.
  7. I do, but only with certain colours such as white, black, yellow and red. These colours seem to work better with the clear.
  8. You can try http://members.optusnet.com.au/ pattosplace/home.html for replacment decals. Patto is a great guy to deal with and ships fast and takes PayPal.
  9. You can try a mix of India Ink and water. You can find India Ink at Craft and Art supply stores.
  10. Thanks for sharing the tutorial. I had never thought of using Spray Adhesive, as I use watered down White Craft Glue. I'm going to try this on my next build.
  11. Wow!!!! I now have an idea for working doors on my Sauber C9 Group C racer. Thanks for posting that link.

  14. Welcome from another Canadian modeler.
  15. I second that. From first to last.
  16. Could you make a fret with the pivot bracket for Watts linkages in 1/24 scale ?
  17. Thanks Art. You answered all my questions. Now I just have to do a few practice bodies with some of my wifes cast offs.
  18. I don't know if this is the right place to post this question ( if it's not please move it to the right place ) but I need to ask about airbrushing Nail Polish. How hard or easy is it. What do you use to thin it. At what air pressure do you spray it at. Can it be clear coated with two part clear. Can you clear coat it with Future. And lastly, can you use polishing cloths on it before clear coating. I'm looking to experiment with air brushing nail polish because of the vast choice of Florescent type colours available.
  19. Agree 100%, a proper barn find is a car covered in dust, trash and 3 inches of bird poop.
  20. Very nice job.
  21. Any more posts on this build?
  22. He also had a 1/18 die-cast Pennzoil Indycar on top of a dresser.
  23. Oh, I almost forgot. Some teams ( both Ford and Chevy ) ran with these in place on the rear wheels. See the photo;s below.
