AFTERMARKET--WHO DO YOU LOVE?
kitbash1 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like to order my stuff on the web from the following folks Lance Sellers Resins R&M of M Slixx Decals ( sorry to see them go ) E Bay IndyCals MegaHobby Micro-Mark -
I've got one ! You could order them from the company that make Borax, 2 box tops and $5.00 for shipping got you the kit. I got mine when I still lived at home back in the early 70's. Still havn't built it though. Back in the 60's Borax also sold a Stage Coach kit along with the 20 Mule team kit. It came as a set and I've never seen the stage coach since then, My mother was and still is a big user of Borax products and she ordered my late father the combo kit. He built both and made a disply case for each. Both are still down stairs in the rec-room in good shape. When I go pickup my mom for easter dinner tomorrow, I'll take some pictures and post them so you can see my dads work.

The idea is to see any and all mould lines. This is why I prime parts on the sprues, so I can see them better. I would not paint parts on the sprues though. -

Replacement for Lookout Designs Fuel Filler
kitbash1 replied to torinobradley's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Yes they are out of business. I ended up making my own gas cap and vent from plastic rod and tube. -
I got two kits that I've been looking for a long time. A Scale Fine Cast Lotus 38 and a Bill Jorgenson 67 STP Turbine Resin kit.

Shipping costs are a little over the top, but the price of the kit is inline with I'd pay. But if this is your first resin kit, I'd rethink getting something this advanced and start off with a older and more simpler starter kit. If I were you, I'd go back on evil-bay and look at kits from Starter , LeMans Minitures or Province. These kits are more beginer friendly and are simple and CHEAP ! My first resin kit was a Starter kit and it went together quite fast ( 3 days ) which included one day soaking the body and parts for 24 hours in Simple Green to clean the release agent from the resin. Go back and see what's out there and get a simple kit and work up from there. I'm sure others will tell you the same thing. You can PM me with any questions any time. Good luck Douglas Graves.

Then you need to get down to your local police or sheriff's station, and get this guy taken care of. My late father said that the lowest form of life in this world is a thief. Put a little heat to this scum and make his life abit more miserable then it is now.

My AWESOME haul today

I was thinking the same thing. How can I get some of your luck dude. -
Wow that sucks big time. If I were you, I'd be on the phone to the police or down at the station to swear out charges against him.

Sounds like his wife or girlfriend got to his stuff and chucked it. That's so sad if it's what happened. Some wive's are not very understanding of our hobby.

Mike / Scott Lannys fotki site goes in to the engine fit question. It only happens when your building the 429 C.I. motor. Lanny shows you how he corrected the fit problem, I tried it and everything went right into place. Also, your going to have to shave a small amount from the front of the wheel arches on the fenders. Once again lannys build will get into this as well.

Scott. Try this. Just click on the link and it will take you right there. http://public.fotki.com/lannyhaas/how-tos/polar_lights_build_up/ Douglas

You can also use Automotive enamel hardner from NAPA in your Humbrol paints. Use 3 or 4 drops of hardner to your paint / thinner mix before spraying.

Check this build site out http//public.fotki.com/lannyhass/how-tos/polar_lights_build_up/ Lanny Hass posted his build of this kit. I used some of of his build points to do three of my PL Torino's. This guy knows what he's talking about.when it comes to doing a great build up of the PL kit. Also you will notice on Lannys build that he uses an after market gas cap and fuel over-flow on the Torino. Both of these parts are no longer available and you'll have to make your own parts. When I did my Torino's, when it came time to bend the nose down, I did it this way 1) I cut releaf cuts in the left and right engine compartment panels to make the bends easyer. 2) Put the nose in boiling water for one minute and remove and GENTLEY BEND the nose down. You might need to repete the process more then once. 3) When the nose looks right , run the body under cold water to set it. 4) Let cool for a couple of hours before starting to work on the body. Good luck with your build.
