One of my all time favorite racing series. Loud, fast cars. I'll be watching this one, for sure.

I bought the sets for my Talbot kit. Believe me, they are more than worth the cost and they'll improve the build 10 fold.

1/16 Revell Hawaiian Dodge Charger Funny Car
kitbash1 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built a few of the 1/16th Revell kits back in the day. To get around the rear wheel collapsing / deformation, I lined the slicks with cotton from pill bottles to give them some support. Worked good from what I remember. But reissuing a few Funny Cars and Front engine Rails would be great. I could build the kits that my mom through out when I moved out years ago. -
faux leather contact vinyl

That is only partly correct. You need to rub your fingers on the sides of your nose, then rub the paint with your finger then rub the surface with a piece of soft rag. This picks up the "oils" from your skin, and the nose or on some people the forehead will give you a film of oil you rub on the painted surface. this works best with flat black to give it a leather look. -
I know that he raced alot of cars over the years, but I can't find anything about him racing a Group 5 Zakspeed Ford. Phantom car ? More than likely yes.

I'm a Culinary Arts student, who was a printer for 30 years until the bottom fell out of the printing industry back in 2010. Since I'm in school, my disposable income is near zero and my kit buying is down to one every 4 or 5 months. Once school is finished in January, and I find a job I'm going to go on a kit binge with my first pay cheque.

"RUSH" the movie
kitbash1 replied to DavidChampagne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Went to see it last night with the wife, we both just loved it. I grew up in the 70's and was following F1 so I got to see races at Mosport and the Glen, and got to see the US GP East in-person. Story was pretty much as I remember it, and the old cars, just loved seeing the high air-box cars once more. -
Came across this little number on the way to school today. Ford Model T Board Track Racer. Avon body kit but no Frontenac head on the engine, just what came from the factory in 1909. It's owned by singer / actor Don Franks.

Sounds like we had a good week as I passed my exam today. Got a 92%, which puts me at 89% over the first semester. -

I wish someone would do up some aftermarket decals for this car. The Fujmi GT3 RSR would be a good starting point for the build. So is any body interested ?

So why do you or we stash kits?
kitbash1 replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kind of a open ended question you've asked. My answer is that I collect and build the kits that I couldn't afford as a kid in the 60's. Once I started working after school jobs in the 70's, I could buy what I wanted when I wanted and not have to wait to finish one kit and then get another one like I had to do when my folks bought them for me. Other people collect kits for other reasons, to build, to collect and not build or collect and then sell for profit.
