I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it will sell for just over 15 million. -

Kits you have, that you will never build
kitbash1 replied to BLOODBANE's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Like many of you guys, I've got alot of kits that I know that I will never get around to building. Due to space limitations, I know that all of my 1/12th scale Protar and Tamiya F1 cars will never get done, which makes me kind of sad. Which begs the question, what to do with them? Do I sell them to someone who with build them and display them, or keep them and pass them on to my kids, who I know will sell them, or hold on to them and maybe one day having the space for them. -
Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
kitbash1 replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
You've half answered your own question, the key is the poor ventilation. Not having a picture of your painting area to see how small it is, I'm going to say that you need to get two small fans to push bad air out and another to pull fresh air in. My respirator is a full face type mask and I use latex gloves when I prime and paint, I too use acrylics and have not experienced any type of problems with dizziness due to poor air circulation, as I have a medium sized spray booth with a good filter and a really powerful squirrel cage fan to pull the fumes to the outside. Can you post a picture of your painting space ? -
Too many projects going on.
kitbash1 replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At the moment, I'm working on 4 kits at the same time. Between waiting for paint and PE, I'm jumping from kit to kit when stuff arrives. I can't work on only one at a time. -
Unless it's on sale, I buy as needed.

What a neat idea, I could use one of those because of my eye-sight isn't what it used to be. It looks like it's made from teflon rod or something similar.

I know more than a few of us like trains...enjoy this.
kitbash1 replied to charlie8575's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This would be really cool to see this monster up and running again. My late father was big into Steam Trains, and would take me and brother on Steam excursions back in the 60's, when the CNR ( Canadian National Railway) ran one of their steam trains to northern Ontario in the fall to see the fall colours. -

All parts were cast with an Alumilite starter kit. Heres the link www.alumilite.com Thanks for the comments. I just followed the directions supplied with the kit. I also watched a few YouTube tutorials as well. One thing that I did when casting the parts, was to warm the moulds in a microwave oven on high setting for 1 and a half minutes and poured the resin slowly into warm mould. I also tapped the moulds on the bench top until I saw the resin start to change colour ( the resin goes from caramel colour to tan as it sets ) at the pour hole. There was no pinholes and zero flash.

I picked-up a resin starter kit, and have been playing around with casting some tire sets. The first try is a set of big and little tires from the Revell Rebel Racer kit. I need a couple of sets for a 1969 Trans-Am Mustang build, and instead of stealing the tires I just cast a set. Not bad. The second set I cast, is a set of NASCAR slicks that have been widened a bit ( 60/40 split ) because I've always thought that the kit tires looked not wide enough. These will work on kits from the late 80's to the early 2000's. The third set I did ( in gray primer ) are NASCAR tires done a bit wider then the first set ( 70/30 split ) incase I didn't like how the 1st set looked. I also copied a GT racing seat from the Rebel kit. I think all in all they turned out not to bad for a serious 1st try at casting.

alternative A/N fittings?

Find a LHS that sell Plastruct products and you'll find Hex shaped rod in many different sizes. I don't think that Evergreen Plastics carry the Hex shaped rod or tube. -

So do I, they're called Iris surgical scissors.

This is so cool, I wish we had something like this in the Toronto area. Thanks for sharing this site.

BMW M1 Pro Car aftermarket support
kitbash1 replied to Austin T's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Scale Productions does a PE and turned aluminum set for this kit. They also had decals for it as well. The kit I have came with BASF decals, and I got the Lauda Marlboro decals along with the upgrade set. I've seen these sets on ebay, so they are still out thee if you look for them.
