  1. I belonged to a Ford Festiva enthusiast group for quite a few years. I learned a lot about my car from them. There was always someone who could point you in the right direction for whatever you needed. from brochures and owner's manuals to parts interchange to reference photos, even hot rodding them, it was all there for the asking.
  2. You might try finding enthusiast groups for each make/ model of car online.
  3. I'm looking for those custom VW parts from the Revell 1:25 beetle kit! I bought a kit from an online auction just to build that version, but the custom parts are MIA, except for the grille. If anyone has them, perhaps we can trade?
  4. Another reference idea is searching for videos on engine removal for whatever year/ engine combo you are building. they are a great source for detailing info. From the two time-lapse videos I just watched it definitely appears that the block, heads, oil pan, and valve covers are black. And my '93 F=150 300 six is black too.
  5. I have to correct my post. The 4Lwas an improved derivative of the U.S. 2.9L version of the cologne.
  6. I would try poking around the RangerStation.com website or another Ford Ranger enthusiast page. According to their website, the Cologne was not offered after 1992. 1995 should be a Vulcan 3L. My educated guess is black block, heads and valve covers and aluminum for the intake. The pictures of a Cologne 2.9L look to be Ford engine Gray.
  7. Model RR box car red/ brown would be close too.
  8. Any of the old kits with opening doors, trunks, etc. or flip fronts are my source of trepidation. Getting them aligned and working is very frustrating. One of these days I may try making my own hinges.
  9. I remember a Ray Stevens a song about a squirrel. Lilacs are blooming in my backyard.
  10. I wish they would announce when our store (former Big Lots) will open.
  11. But what does one use now that Pledge with Future is no longer available? I would think products from other MFG might have different formulas, different levels of gloss, etc.
  12. Cost of living always remains the same: everything you make. Thought i was going to get ahead his month and either the water pump gasket or the lower coolant hose failed on my truck. At least it's old enough that it should not cost too much. No computers involved and easy access.
  13. going to be a nice stretch except for Sunday. mid 60s to mid 70s. Sunday near 90. but unfortunately for the garden no significant rain chances. and we are already an 1' behind for the year. But the nice weather means smoke from annual prairie being burned off.
  14. If the rest of the kit is half decent. this is one I'm not familiar with.
  15. One could narrow the bed to represent a step/ sport side and drop the duallies if the rest of the kit is half decent. this is one I'm not familiar with.
  16. how about a tonneau cover and going for a salt flats racer look?
  17. Solvent cement for styrene, CA for non-styrene or when I need a quick bond, canopy glue or Alene's Turbo-Tak for clear parts.
  18. That clay idea sounds great. I'll have to file that away in my organic library (brain). I can see using it when fabricating/ modifying parts too.
  19. Thank you everyone. A jig / fixture sounds like the way to go. With lots of clamps. And maybe a little heat. I'll get around to experimenting once my garden is on semi-autopilot.
  20. newer releases or those that the MFG has recently repaired the molds for will likely have less flash and better fit than those re-issued form older, worn molds. Not to mention better engineering.
  21. Leaf springs with one curve are easy, just like you said. But some transverse spring have a total of three curves. One over the differential for clearance, and the remainder `of the spring is curved the opposite direction so that the ends can bolt to the outer ends of the axel housing. think Model T. Or two mirrored "s" curves I'm guessing maybe some kind of jig.
  22. I've tried searching for a thread on how to make transverse leaf springs and haven't come up with anything. I found a tutorial on making parallel leafs, but how do you accomplish the additional curvature of a transverse spring?
  23. Up for trade I have one Monogram 427 Vette roadster. appears complete except for instructions. body brush painted and some parts assembled Matchbox/ AMT branded '72 Chevelle SS 454. no tires, steering wheel or taillights. Mostly assembled. some extra chrome parts from another Chevy. No idea if the engine is correct for this kit, as I am a Ford person. Looking for show car and custom parts kits/ built ups.
  24. Looks like Testors metalic green to me.
  25. Scams are getting real bad. I've been getting those. And the "you have a package that could not be delivered" scam, and a scam claiming to be from my bank. when I see a weird weblink or phone number with a foreign prefix it is instant delete.
