  1. Thanks guys! A quick shot of it with it’s flamed-but-streetrodded-cousin: And a little fun with a photo filter: Appreciate the nice comments!
  2. I LOVE it! Beautiful work so far, and I like the mods you’ve made to the body - low headlamps included! What are the pink bits from?
  3. Thanks Alan! I’m hoping the step-by-step I did on the flames is helpful to some people who want to shoot their own flames...love a wild paintjob! I had seen the Group 29 thread but then forgot what it was called and where it was and couldn’t find it again - thank you for reminding me what to search to find it! ?
  4. I’ll play! Something streetrod-y from the new Revell kit: And a much more traditional version:
  5. Thank you everyone! Was SUPER hot here today, so spent the day in my happy-place (at the bench, next to the air conditioner) finishing this one up: Nothing interesting to report on the last steps - the windshield frame was broken on the sprue (with the split chromed over ?) so I had to do some touch up on that but otherwise it practically fell together! Finished pics here - thanks for all the nice comments everybody!
  6. I wanted to do a mostly-box stock build of the Revell 29 Ford kit (and building box stock is hard for me) - so I thought I’d go full-traditional and do a classic black ‘n’ flames paintjob on this one. Added a little photoetch and some wires and pipes but managed to MOSTLY build it as Revell intended - and right out of the box these things look GREAT I think! Build thread here, for anyone curious: Thanks for looking everyone!
  7. Finally! Polishing day! Where I’m building this box stock (or, trying to, kinda, anyway) once everything was painted and I was waiting for the clear to dry I kinda ran out of things to do - so I was looking forward to the polishing stage! Came out ok I think - needs a coat of wax but it’s looking pretty level and shiny: Not much of an update, I know...but it’s nice to get the body on the frame for good so I can finish all the little details and get it done! More soon!
  8. I think it’s normally “a dog’s dinner”, but my wife has cat and his breakfast looks disgusting to me so...?‍♂️?
  9. Me too! That’s why I’m going to let me subscription roll into a few copies of FSM...I want to give it a chance, but I already know it won’t be 50 pages of car stuff, or even 25 or probably 15...but I’m hopeful! A couple or three MUST READ articles by their very best contributors might keep my interest in renewing FSM...I actually got a couple of free copies of it when they were giving away trial issues earlier in the year and it was KINDA interesting, but not enough for me to commit to ever actually PAYING for a copy. Hopefully they can change my mind! Hope @tim boyd will be involved still!
  10. Looks great there Tom! Nice work! I kinda liked the idea that I’d have to multi-piece it together like a real one...not sure how much I’ll like that after I try to do it, but I did think it gave an extra little opportunity for an extra little piece of detail that you don’t see every day - carpet seams! ? Of course, the technique has got to be good or it’ll look like a cat’s breakfast
  11. Huh - I’ve never seriously considered the X-22 - you all got any examples of how it looks? Like Claude I’d be interested in rattle can options too though - the WLC is probably my favorite lacquer clear
  12. I’ve got a BUNCH to try decanting seeing as I seem to be having a run of them lately that have clogged themselves. Just got refunded on a can today from Amazon that clogged the first time I used it and spat paint everywhere. I think my trick will be piercing the can to let the propellant out, let it sit overnight (NOT inside!? ) and then slice the top off and put it in a different container. HATE wasting perfectly good paint!
  13. Beautiful - those shocks look GREAT!
  14. At least they found a good place to advertise, I guess:
  15. The AutoArt models of this car show that assembly bring bare aluminum, versus black in the Gulf liveried cars. Not that they’re necessarily a reliable reference though...
  16. That is a benefit of flocking and embossing powder, it’s true - no issues in going over trans humps or curved sections or whatever
  17. Incredible craftsmanship - really inspirational stuff!
  18. I love it! Great looking build - you did a good job de-billet-ating it! ?. Nice color choice too!
  19. I thought the same thing! I’d love to build one like it, what a cool idea!! Real creative! Some great stalled builds in this thread!
  20. That looks really good! I picked up this self-adhesive sheet of fuzzy whatever-it-is from Michael’s last time I went there to bring home and compare to my flocked and embossing powder efforts at carpet - I think it looks promising! Not super deep and fluffy looking like felt sheets which don’t look realistic, and a little more carpet-y than some of the embossing powders I’ve tried...I need to try some on an actual build and see how it looks with the other components but it might work out ok I think;
  21. If my Crazy Glue that I ordered in the 1st of the month from them (on a 2 day shipping service) ever arrived from 30 miles over I could do that! ?
  22. My wife ordered a ceramic plant pot from Amazon this week...they put it in a padded envelope. Now we have a fun 3D ceramic jigsaw to play with whilst we wait for the replacement to arrive! ?
