  1. Ahh, interesting! I never used one of those - sounds like you got a real bargain with that one!
  2. Testors high gloss clear cut 50/50 with the thinner ??
  3. Pity, because we love everything about the place apart from the neighbors - but NYC rent is too expensive to keep paying for somewhere you don’t like...
  4. We’re about to move, and you’re right - it sucks. Doesnt suck as much as living next door to the Moroccan family with the wife-beating husband and the child-abusing Mom and the perma-crying (unsurprisingly) young kids though. The roach infestation coming through the wall of their urine-smelling apartment was the final straw, after the landlord said he couldn’t do anything to remove them because they accused him of racism and threatened him with some kind of Muslim rights lawyer...so we’re about to pack up and move out, soon as we find a place. Pain in the donkey though...
  5. Looks great Randy - looks like it would be a fun little hot rod to bomb around in! Nice job!
  6. Donn Yost: http://oldmansmodels.com/id106.html And, thanks to watching some of his videos on his YouTube, me too. ? I’ve only tried this technique with the enamel clear over acrylics - but it works great for me!
  7. Just my little Silhouette Portrait cutter - could’ve probably just used regular tools like a normal person but the machine was sitting there doing nothing ? Thanks Jim! I have been contemplating some hood sides, yes! I think where I’ve left the frame and wheelbase standard length it’ll never look as flowing and elegant as a Boydster - more squat and stocky and aggressive! Which I don’t mind - but I’d really like to do a proper replica of a Boydster at some point, once I’ve worked through the Boyd kits that exist already. Even the bad ones (looking at you, AMT 32 Ford) ? No major progress to report today, but did a bunch of cleanup and prepping some of the bigger parts so I could shoot some primer and then really go over the body and fenders with a fine toothed comb and see what more work it needs to get ready for paint - more soon!
  8. That’s the plan! It lays down nice and dries nice - I just seem to keep getting ones that clog ?? Probably takes 10-15 minutes to hit touch-dryness, but I leave it overnight anyway usually I think it’s actually a clog in the valve or the tube in the case of mine - even with a brand new never-used valve they won’t spray again. Like you say, might be bad storage or old stock or any number of things. I get on fine with their colored cans and the metallics and whatnot - just having a lot of issues with the primer lately ?‍♂️
  9. I just clogged another can of Rustoleum primer today - I now have 4 clogged cans basically full of paint. Im doing all the shaking they recommend, inverting to clear the nozzle, all the stuff you’re MEANT to do...and after a couple or three uses, clog another one. I’ve only been using them before I bought a few cans when Amazon had them cheap one day, but I’ll be switching brands now I think ??
  10. To the Googlemobile! Thanks again Claude!
  11. Another awesome build in progress - I’ll be watching! ?
  12. Agreed - although I think it’s bad practise of a hobby store to tell their customer to deal with the manufacturer directly. Not many instances of retail where you can get away with that - would be much better if they exchanged the goods and took it up with their distributor rather than leaving the customer to do the legwork
  13. Great info - I’m familiar with the 33 but not the others you referenced - time to do some learnin’ Thanks Claude!
  14. That’s really cool - I was trying to find out if he ever did a Coupe version of a Boydster - this is the closest I’ve seen so far! Back on topic, great looking build @Brudda - would love to see some more progress on this one!
  15. Oh wow - this is OUTSTANDING! Could VERY easily be mistaken for the real thing...in fact, I just showed my wife and she had no idea it was a model. GREAT job! I’m really impressed!
  16. You don’t need to - if you can see the sky, it’s working fine, but if you see tarmac you did something wrong ? GREAT looking build! Really nice work on a cool subject! Paint looks great!
  17. You did a GREAT job on that motor plate - nice work!
  18. I think a lot of people use those Micromesh polishing grits that go up (down?) to 1800 grit cloths or whatever they come with, and end up using an unnecessarily coarse grit to start out the process - seems like that’s asking for trouble. Your technique is a testament to your painting skills Steve! I’m always envious of your finishes!
  19. I believe those are also the ingredients for a 7-Eleven hot dog ?
  20. Nice work so far, I’ll be watching - great job on that moulding!
  21. Both of mine were like that too - common issue, apparently
  22. I’d be most concerned about the chemicals in the sheet doing something odd to the paint that you’ve applied over them further down the line - there’s a bunch of weird chemicals in a drier sheet and it might end up causing weird effects further down the line. That said, it’s a free country!
  23. Would be easier to return it to where it came from, assuming it was a retailer of some sort, I would think...
  24. Thanks bud! I went hunting for brakes today - turns out the ones that come in the Foose F100 I stole the wheels from will work perfectly...thought I was gonna have to fight it or make some from scratch but seems like we’re all good! ? Next job was some interior door panels - nothing super fancy because they’re hard to see with this sectioned body, but I’ll add some detail and nice handles once they’re painted: Whilst I had the cutter running I wanted to do something with the inner trunk lid, so I made some pieces somewhat similar to a stock 32’s inner support: And all the pieces glued and in place: Not that it’s super visible with the trunk open anyway, but it’s something to notice anyway - more soon!
