The grill looks excellent! Is that a kit or a resin body? -
Lets Build some Models

Don't give up, Jon. There's been several posts of builds/WIPs that show some magnificent coil overs. I'd tell you exactly which ones but me and the search thing don't get along so well. -
The pipes came right out of the parts I got in a trade. I don't know if they were part of the original kit or not. All I did was open the tips so they looked more realistic.

I painted/stripped that puppy 3 times before getting it right. Appreciate your comments, Don.

Yeah, Wayne. Quite a few kits and parts boxes were made available and sold. If you miss October, we'll be back on November 5. Plan is to hold the meeting in Orlando in December. But that Willy is so BIG. I can only imagine what GrandpaMcGurk is going to do with it. -
Nice looking headers.

Nope. Kit rotors that I stripped in Simple Green, shot Alclad chrome on them, sanded and drilled the vent holes and then brush painted the actual rotor Testors Steel.

We've had 2 meetings, Don and there was a parking lot flea market after both meetings. Who knows what'll happen after next month's meeting. I do have some older builds that I wouldn't mind trading 2 for 1 complete, unbuilt kits. Maybe we should bring a canopy so we can have more shade. Thank you for the compliment, Don, but I think it's mostly because we have a good group of talented people with diverse backgrounds that really care about our hobby - whatever the scale. We had another member join and had 2 new people who didn't join - yet. Besides the people relatively local to Ocala, people drove from Safety Harbor, Orlando, and Jacksonville to attend the meeting. That's some decent travel time and we appreciate their support. -
It was a fun build. Just build it your way, Tim, and post some pics when you're done.

It was great seeing you again, Fatkidd. Those seats covered in REAL leather are ultimate! Cleaning up your seats and disc brakes and will probably get molded tomorrow and the first castings Tuesday. It was a pleasure meeting you, Brian. You build some extremely nice stuff. You must be right down the road from me. I'm only a couple of blocks from El Diablo golf course. If you ever want to get together, just holler. Both of you, of course, are more than welcome to attend FAST meetings anytime. They'll be the 1st Saturday of the month at the Hobby Lobby in Ocala - except December because HL already had the room blocked (we're planning on someplace in Orlando) and it looks like February we'll hold our meeting at the JaxCon show. -
Never been into Ferrari's but I like yours. The interior is awesome.

What a terrific looking build. Great details. I really like that head-on pic.

Oh good. It's you. I thought I was loosing it.

New Setting For Topics

The easier approach would be to have civil replies. Yeah, I know, dream on. My glass is always half full and not half empty. I still have hopes for humanity. -
Now you got me confused, Rob. I have paperwork showing the October 14-16 SE Street Rod Nationals is also the MAGS model car show. We already have a room down there for the weekend. JaxCon is February 4, 2012 at the UNF University Center (same place as last year). It looks like we'll be holding a Florida Auto & Scale Trucks Model Club (FAST) meeting there too. Member or not, you're welcome to the meeting.

Awesome work, Wayne.

Whoa!! How did I miss this build? You have some amazing stuff going on there, Rob. Now that I found the Jolly Roger, I can stay tuned in. Will you be finished with it by October 14?
-
I read every post but somehow missed the showgirls - where are they? In all seriousness, congratulations, Gregg. I've enjoyed this forum since I found it and signed up. My builds have improved dramatically because of the assistance I've found here. Next time I'm in Hawaii, I'll let you buy me a drink.

ALCAD II HELP?
crazyjim replied to bandit1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Gloss black ENAMEL basecoat is supposed to be used under Alclad. I've cheated and used Plasticote black primer with Testors clear gloss enamel over it. I didn't have a can of gloss black at the time. -
That's pretty neat, Sam. Where do you get all the people?

New Setting For Topics
crazyjim replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why would anybody want to post a build and not want feedback? To me it's all part of the learning experience. What if Joe Blow used a really neat part or a new procedure? How are we supposed to find out what that part or procedure is? We'd have to ask in a new topic/thread and get dealt with - with no warning. Doesn't sound good to me. I guess an option could be to PM the original poster and ask the person to update their post to include additional information. -
That is really cool!

Hey Tim - I just thought of something else. I used necklace bead crimps at the cable ends. The crimps are available at HL & Michaels in the necklace section. I bought a package that has 4 different sizes (1-4). They come in handy for all sorts of things - spacers for throttle linkage, radiator hose ends, heater hose ends, fuel lines, etc. I use them instead of paying the big bucks for AN fittings.
