  1. This was a nice kit to build. Everything went together easily and fit well. I am a Vietnam Veteran and proud of it. Every one of my builds will have that plate on it. I also made some POW/MIA plates but can't figure out where/how to put both plates on every build. Hey Bill (Duntov) WELCOME HOME!
  2. Thank you, thank you. The kit is terrible and doesn't come with much in the way of stock parts. I suppose you could do some kit bashing to get there.
  3. Thanks, Shane. Not like the '55 your building, but I try. Those are Pegasus wheels/tires with Pegasus disk brakes behind. I drilled out every hole in the discs. If you look close at the wheels, you'll see that I painted inside each spinner and maybe you'll see the valve stems. I keep trying Mike. Thanks for the response. Highway, the firewall is painted to match the frame, engine, wheel wells, interior panels, and if you look close, inside the exhaust tips. I try to coordinate colors inside and out of all my builds. It's almost time to shut the computer down and make dinner - I'm doing chicken fahitas tonight. Have a great night everyone.
  4. here's some pics of my '54 Chevy Sedan/delivery. I cut out a large portion of the roof to make a skylight/sunroof. There's acetate on the inside. Wired, fuel lines, battery cables, flocked. Paint is HOK candy organic green. There're some craft shows coming up and I need to make some stained glass wind chimes so I'll be taking a few days away from modeling.
  5. Here's some pics of '55 Chevy stepside pickup that I just completed. The paint is HOK Candy tangerine over a gold basecoat. The seats and console came out of the parts bin so I have no idea what the original donor kit was. Pegasus wheels/tires were used. I cut holes for taillight into the fenders and used clear acetate painted with Testors Taillight red with BMF on the back.
  6. I was flocking and left the ceiling on - ONCE. Now I remember to turn the fan or the AC unit off before flocking. If the door to my studio is closed, it means knock first! Fantastic work you're doing on the Chevelle.
  7. Check out Scale Dreams for supplies for a variety of manufacturers. http://stores.scaledreams.com/StoreFront.bok
  8. Your Chevelle looks fantastic, Romell. You go so fast and I wanted to make a comment about your flocking. Instead of using an old box, you might like to try flocking over an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper. When you dump the excess flocking onto the paper, you can just fold the paper a little and use it as a funnel to put back in the plastic tube. Saves the time of trying to pick it up with a business card.
  9. I started a subscription on June 3, 2010 and haven't heard a word about getting my first issue.
  10. Sure looks like the DD kit. I think I have a couple of those engines from the original release.
  11. That's what I have ordered - TS14.
  12. Thanks for all the replies folks, but now I'm even more confused. Alclad over gloss black enamel; over gloss black lacquer; over grey lacquer primer; clear over Alclad; no clear. Whoa. I have a rattle can of Testors gloss black enamel; Tamiya gloss black lacquer should be here Tuesday or Wednesday; I have Plasticote grey primer #235. I guess I'll grab some parts and spray them with each different type of paint and then shoot the Alclad over them. I'll plan on posting the results next week.
  13. I've always liked the PT Cruiser and have rented one several times. In November 2008 we were involved in an auto accident (we were in the PT) an illegal immigrant with no drivers license or insurance decided to make a left right in front of us. It was a near head on collision at 45mph. We hit and the impact spun us around and the PT hit the other side of his car. The airbags deployed aall over the place and we were fine. The other driver was cuffed and taken to jail. Both vehicles were totaled. I like the PT Cruiser.
  14. Got some great details going on, Shane. Looking good.
  15. Hey George53 - what are using under the Alclad? Black enamel or lacquer?
  16. Super build on a very nice car.
  17. It doesn't make sense to put lacquer over enamel. The lacquer would eat the enamel.
  18. I bought a bottle of Alclad II chrome and have ordered a rattle can of Tamiya gloss black. Can I use the two together or do I need a different basecoat? Appreciate any assistance.
  19. Never heard of recycling styrene cars. Wouldn't it be a smelly process? I'd like to try casting some of my own parts but would need to see a tutorial here first.
  20. Terrific looking build, Dave. I like what you did with the taillight & exhaust and headlight treatment.
  21. Check out Ma's Resin for the tires. http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/ I bought a pair and they look GREAT!
  22. My Scale Dreams order arrived today - 2 envelopes of BMF, resin bucket seats, PE wire looms, and a bottle of Alclad chrome. Do I really have to use Alclad's black? I ordered some Tamiya gloss black to use.
  23. I'm likin' this build. Never cared much for Moon discs so I'd go with the Torque Thrusts.
  24. Freehand?!?!?! I'm impressed. The paint scheme great on that body and the wheels look terrific too! That Nomad ain't looking too shabby either.
  25. That's a nice work area, Mark. I like organized!!
