  1. Thanks, Geno. I like it much better, too. But the wife is dictating whether it can stay or go. If I can mix up something closer to the factory light green that Ford used, then I may shoot another color on it this weekend. It's going to end a up a tribute truck to be similar to one her dad owned back in the day. I'm going to print up some door signs for it too.
  2. This is the Krylon. ColorMaxx over Rust-Oleum 2x primer on a diecast. I primered it before I bought the green. This is over the factory paint that I scuffed with scotch Brite pad. They're is a thread in the diecast section that shows original model. The paint itself works ok but does seem to react with others. I had some light crazing on the door tops. In the gray that was applied over the blue. I let it sit for a couple days and it seems fine. Shiny enough for this one. I may try to polish out or I may repaint the get closer to the factory green. This is on metal though. If I were doing plastic, I would probably still prime. Or try to find the Rust-Oleum 2x paints. They give pretty good results from what I've found. I'm not sure what the dark green on plastic seats is. A can of appropriate color with no primer or anything. I can check that too, if you need to know. It came out very shiny and I really would have liked it duller. Will have to dullcote that. Good luck
  3. IS it the photo or does the 57 look larger than the others? Nice cars though. I have a special place for 74 or 75 Corvettes. I do like that one especially. First plastic model I ever built was the MPC annual version. I think I used a whole tube of glue. It's probably in a landfill, still soft from all the glue.
  4. I like the pink exterior. Almost bought one, but noticed, like you, that there were a LOT of them. And at the same time I found a turquoise version that I bundled with a pink/white 56 Ford. But the pink one still catches my eye. Nice score
  5. THat came out nice. And yes,. most ot the Mint chrome I've messed with is the "good stuff", as you call it. I did a similar paint on the burgundy 65 Mustang coupe from DM. Paint was icky and sticky when I got the car. Cleaned it with solvents and painted it white, which really makes the car pop more. Wife loved it enough to declare it a "keeper".
  6. Well, put some light green on it. Trying to make a tribute truck that my wife's dad had. This is NOT the right green though. It is however, much better than the blue and gray. Going to try to either mix some green or find a closer color.
  7. Looks great! Glad you found one.
  8. That's cool! Love it!
  9. That looks great! Needs some decals to make it look truly "loved". But looks very real.
  10. Yep. And that didn't really come up til I tried to fit it all together. The interior and windows may have the interference? Mine still have a tiny gap but have to see from just the right angle. Hopefully anyone building will read this and be ready to deal with it. I did put a strip of plastic on the back of the lower doors on the chassis and a little CA on that. Then when I put the body on, I held it all in place as tight as I could to keep the gap minimal. It's nowhere near as bad as the photos above. The body was just put in place to show color.
  11. Just a quick update. The Santa Fe is complete. It is curing and as soon as I can add a little pooish to clean it up, it will be under glass. Came out pretty nice. I have things that bug me, but might not bother others. And a few things that I really like in the way they tooled the kit.
  12. Nice save.
  13. Looking good. Thanks for the update.
  14. Nice to see the magic behind the curtain.
  15. Well, it is beautiful work you've done to make it look so weathered, which isn't "beautiful" in the traditonal sense. Please don't misunderstand, I have nothing but admiration for your work and skills. I may have failed to communicate that effectively.
  16. I have read your reviews of the various kits over the years and I know you know your stuff on Mach1s. And as you say, there are some cars that only purists will notice the differeces. My car is the 71 Dart. And then the other variations of the Dart/Demon/Duster/Valiant. But these Mach1s look like the Mach1 that was almost my first car - my only experience with them personally. Till my uncle told my mom what the Mach1 was. lol So I ended up with 73 GrandPrix with 400/4bb/duals (442?) It would do a one wheel peel burnout as long as you stayed in it. But that was the better choice? LOL
  17. Love these builds. And really love the Cougar since it was such a rarity in T/A
  18. Looks great to me. I know it has some issues, but my reference is my memory. So it's right on according to my memory. Love that color scheme.
  19. Beautiful! Ummm that doesn't seem quite right with all the weathering. Looks great and super real.
  20. If we didn't own one, I would likely pass this one by myself. But it's fun to replicate the car in the driveway.
  21. Just mocked up. It's too light, but will be ok inside. For me anyway. Needs to dry for several days now. I did my wheels to resemble color of the ones on the 1:1 in the driveway. The body will fit better when completed
  22. What interior color? I have a bunch of ours, if it's the espresso version.
  23. Paint is on. It can or a little light, but in the house lighting, I think it will look ok and not look black. I have a lot of light in my shop.
