  1. Hey Pete. I know your stuff well- great builds!. Been to a lot lot of SoCal Shows. As far a wine and building....stay away from the rotating blades. Got a nasty cut that way. Scott
  2. I think that took guts to build. My lease favorite too. Glammobile. You did a great job with it.
  3. Here is my personal experience: I loved cars as a kid... Especially, hot rods. My dad took me to the Oakland Roadster Show and dirt track races. I found a partially disassembled Black Widow in a toy box at my great grandma's house and play with it until I figured out how it went together. My parents got me glue and a lot of news paper and I was off to the races. I think I was 4 or 5. I built by myself until I was in college and found the SAM club up in Sacramento. After I got married and had kids, I built models with all three of my sons. They enjoyed the time together, but none of them had an interest in cars, or model cars. The two boys who lived with me liked making stop motion animation movies. The other son preferred video games. So they never built much independently. Just the way it went in my house. Not sure what it says about the future of the hobby. I would like to see it continue, but I have a life time stash, so it it goes the way of scrimshaw, I'll be fine.
  4. I turn 56 tomorrow. Been building for 52ish years.
  5. I noticed the side roll bar bracing thats in the kit is not on the photo you have. The 1:1 looks better to me.
  6. My wife and I work at the same school, so we comment together in the HOV lane. It drive me nuts to see how many people join us when they are driving by themselves. They are also frequently the tailgaters and texters too. So many SoCal drivers really suck.
  7. All but the last one, Rob. Barber Shop car is by Joe Ballion.
  8. I am pretty sure the Hard Hat Hauler was a Harry Bradley design. I'm also pretty sure none of the cars pictured above came from Barris.
  9. Some years ago I was at a SoCal model show and someone had converted a 1/16th Micky Thompson Grand Am to a four engine car. Sorry no pics, but it certainly stayed with me.
  10. Ivo bash idea using PartsPack fords. The Flying Brick. It's on the back burner. Way back. Bill's is awesome. I'll be trying his metal technique someday. Hosted on Fotki
  11. I agree with John. Using wings for A arms is brilliant.
  12. "RICK! You had ONE JOB!" LOL!!!! hmmm. maybe I'll take a look at the Santa Clarita Diet. Westworld!!!!!!!!
  13. Spoilers from the last two shows to follow. For you Walking dead watchers... two weeks ago had to be the lamest plot movement ever. The little kid, who they know is a risk, SOMEHOW gets the only key to the prisoner compound and an AR and then feels like he needs to open the gate to threaten them. Of course they escape. Really? REALLY? I can almost believe Jadas freeing Negan.....almost. I am hoping they quit taking lame shortcuts. I'll be losing interest.
  14. Some of us build so slow or put so many projects aside that if you delete a two year old thread, you will eliminate their build history.
  15. I remember all of these but the woody and the Indy Vette. All great builds!!! But where is the SPRINT CAR? Always a fan, Scott
  16. I found another issue of CARtoons from my youth. I been searching for specific articles I remembered, using covers that look familiar. The issue below had the drawing that I remembered ,also below. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  17. This would have been fun to keep in the garage and start once in a while. Hosted on Fotki
  18. From a modeling perspective it can get even better. Here is one of my favorites by Mike Turk. Four engines, four rear tires, dual chain drive. Completely non functional in real life, but a fun exercise as a model. Also a good way to use up those extra sprint car parts after robbing the one big rear tire. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki OK, I'm done. : )
  19. I liked the old PFG (Pro FairGrounds) days. Excess for excess' sake. More show art than performance car. The mustang is a bit much, but to me that is the point. Three blowers and twin turbos make a very cool obstruction. Who remembers the 8 turbo 57? Another bundle of fun. Hosted on Fotki Or you can go waayyyyy back to this Alison powered Chevelle Ed Wood built and drove on the streets. He also did a twin engine streeter. Hosted on Fotki Fun stuff.
  20. Wow! That came out great! It is so wild, but still looks balanced and well put together. Excellent work. I really enjoyed following this one.
  21. Looks awesome, Chuck!
  22. We here headed to dinner and ended up next to a new Charger RT. The driver, a older guy like me, was having a little fun, so I decided to keep up with him. We both had some launching fun for the next three lights. Not too much speed, just get getting the as quick as possible. Our EV car held it's own quite well. Wifey enjoyed the fun too.
