The Eliminator doesn't need restoration it's a street rod that Billie drives, not a trailer queen just for cruising around the fairgrounds at rod runs.

Love your old Chevy's I probably have a half dozen of the"roadster" kits, and three of the panel's, two are the original gangbusters kits and one is the Art Anderson '33 Panel Delivery kits, plus one resin delivery kit I think is from Replicas and Miniatures. I've started to build one of the roadster kits that originally was the MPC Gasser version as a street rod with the independent suspension from the AMT '33 Ford street rod kit but kinda lost interest, until just recently going through a box and found a bunch of the phantom deuce kits that have a lot nicer front suspension, and a couple of the Buttera jag rear end assemblies and I think I am going to swap out the dana style center section for a nine inch Ford to make it a little more contemporary. But it's nice to see another Chevrolet freak.

Looks like the 4.6 Ford mod motor from the AMT Phantom Deuce kit

Just for the heck of it, Google "Spirit of America" land speed record cars. Might be interesting.

I was thinking that they looked like the ones from the '55 Chevy sedan, but they also look like the ones from the bubble top Impala's but I can't remember if those had the stub for the axle on the back.

1/25 Revell '29 Model A Roadster 2'n'1
horsepower replied to mrknowetall's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I know I'm sorta old school, but doesn't a five speed transmission for "highway driving" sort of defeat the reason a lot of the real builders used the quick change? And just so people who don't know, the small V-8 style quick change is no where near as strong as the later model passenger car rear axle, you have to keep in mind that style quickie is designed around the old Ford rear gears, just turned over with the original pinion gear now being the upper shaft on the quickchange, and unless you want to spend a lot of extra money on the rare hypoid (angle) cut change gears the thing is going to be so noisy from the straight cut rear gears that you won't be able to hear yourself think. The stronger Champ style quickchange is based on the model AA one ton rear gears, and is a lot stronger, but also a lot bigger, this is the one you see in later cars using the large bell type axle housings, and they are just as noisy as the other style, but the quieter gear sets are easier to find, but still expensive and are sold as superspeedway gears, and are also stronger than the straight cut gears, but not quite as quick and easy to change either. -

Yes, it represents the champ car motors before the lay down motors started showing up -

The Offy offered in the midget kits, is the small 170 cubic inch one, not the 255 that was used in the Indy, and Champ cars. And the flathead V-8 is the tiny V-8 60, both would look like Briggs Stratton engines in that hoodless A. -
1/25 Revell Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon 2'n'1

And unless I'm imagining it, on the black police wagon it appears as though it's back up top where it belongs. Possibly a decal that got misplaced? As I've heard that on occasion the cars supplied for builders to make for box art don't always come with an instruction sheet. -
After problems with some shady overseas operation making knockoff GM parts, and the ensuing nightmare GM had clearing its reputation, ANY GM product has to be cleared with the home office and rights to production granted. Unless you love spending time in courts and spending lots of money on lawyers. Check out the thread on the soon to be released '48 coupe from Galaxie to see how controlling the GM brass can be, and the kit itself had already been given a green light, the problem was a particular item in the box art.

Also being a fan of old circle track racers I can see the Z'd A chassis, and the dirt track tires being used to build a couple of old modifieds. -

Regardless of what the dimensions are, it's going to be right. It isn't supposed to be a stock body, it's been modified for a hot rod, it's not uncommon for roadsters to be lengthened in both the door and quarters in front of the tires to make more room for those who have long legs and want a little more room for comfort in case they actually have intentions on driving it for longer than around the fairgrounds. So, this should stop arguments about it not being exactly like the one Henry built, who knows maybe it was designed off a new steel body for full size rodders. We already have a deuce roadster pickup, a roadster with a retracting top that disappears into the tulip panel, various roadsters with different length doors, quarters, and a plethora of firewall and cowl modifications, plus a few other cars that never saw the light of day from any assembly line mass produced family car. Not a stock body and isn't being represented as one. -

As I stated, the angle of perception, plus the raised and recontouring of the wheel well throws the impression of dimensions off, that and the fact that neither body appears to be the same dimensions as the other,, perhaps do to cgi views. -

Methinks your paddle is to short. But some better eyeglasses wouldn't hurt. ;-) What may be throwing your perspective off is that this isn't represented as a stock A body, the modified rear quarter panels that have the raised and re-radiused fender openings might be tricking your eyes, that and the fact that neither option appears to be actual photos of the kit since they both appear to be different bodies to the naked eye. It will be nice to have an A that will be a little more correct for a hot rod, all these years, and no one said a thing about the "other" kit having the wrong stiffening beads for the rear fender wells, and this one will actually have a better floor pan for its intended use. -

Strange coincidence that there's been a thread going on about the possibility of one of the manufacturers producing an A on Deuce rails after Mr.Boyd posted his old proposal to AMT about producing a hot rod A? Now all we need is a Lincoln motor (yes I know that one's available) and we can build a famous A. -
I found the original post in this forum on the '40 Ford delivery, it's HOK Passion Pearl base with a Sikkens clear top.

Beautiful job on a car that doesn't usually get the attention it deserves. The interior looks very nice, just a question, did Henry paint the commercial dashboards a different color than the passenger cars, I know that the deluxe passenger car dashes were all painted a dark maroon. Did you move the voltage regulator, I see the wiring for it, but the regulator seems to have disappeared, lol. Now you need to build a pickup to keep your commercial vehicle lineup going.

The tires to replicate the original can be sourced from the Monogram Super Modified kit last reissued by Dirt Track Models, the rims from the latest issue of the Monogram '32 Deuce Roadster, also the McDonald's issue of this kit or the old Beach Boys Rockin' Rods kit, I believe that the original six two carb set up can be found in the reissue of the fore mentioned '29 roadster pickup reissue, the headers are a different story, I haven't found anything close in the proper scale. Changing course a little bit, want to add a little bit more power to this? Rob the tunnel ram equipped big block from the '39 Chevrolet coupe, or sedan delivery kit from Revellogram, just need to redo the headers a bit, and you have instant big block power for the "Little T".

New Kit Proposal....from 39 years ago..
horsepower replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's still a possibility if they just swapped out the Phantom Vicky body for the molds to the venerable '29 roadster kit it could be done, a little more contemporary, but still an A on Deuce rails -
Kinda thought it was GM, but I was thinking European or G.B. Wrong hemisphere. Should have been easy, looks almost like a twin to an early to mid '90s Lumina, and we even had a white '94.

Jairus, did you forget about the head person at GM being a woman now? Guess we won't get any of Flintbones "backseat Betty" figures in these kits now. -
There's always the original '56 Chevy multiple model, just glue the doors shut and go for it.
