1946 Dodge Power Wagon

Earlier in this post I showed a method to create door hinges. The first experiment failed because the wire tails and brass tongues on the channel were too short. However, the method was still promising and I built new hinges with longer tails and tongues. They worked! Here are some pix of the results. I will post additional pix when I shoot a coat of primer. -
That kit was great when it was first released, and its looks just as good today. You did a great job and I love the color!

Those carbs on the Caddy look really good!

Thank you so much for sharing! I particularly remember the Auburn Cabin Speedster- dental floss for the wicker seats if I recall- got me looking at alternate materials and seeing shapes rather than just parts.

Thank you all for sharing, and nice 442!

Ricky, thanks for the tips and info. The line will extend the entire length of a rather long car so I would have to splice decals together. Another thought- what about very thin striping tape? Another thing I have never used- how does it stick and can it be clear coated?

I have never had much occasion to do masking, but I have a project which would benefit from a very thin stripe. Micromark has advertised Parafilm masking material for years, but I would like a precut straight line. Has anyone had good experiences with Scotch tape? The stripe would be over the main paint color and I wouldn't want to damage it when it's removed. Any tips or suggestions more than welcome.

Model Car Muse with Doug Whyte

I saw Doug's 1953 Studebaker at the NNL Est meet. I also bought a second copy of Scale Auto with this model as the center fold, which now hangs over my workbench for inspiration. Not only is it one of the most amazing models, I would love to see a full size one. Doug's podcast is great- I look forward to many more! -
Got mine courtesy of our ever more pricey postal service- that aside, the issue is excellent and another one to be proud of- I especially like the segment of presenting a build from the forum- there is enough material there to keep the magazine going into the 22nd century.......?

Had a great trade with Chris Chabre- will trade with him any time!

Wow- thought it was big in 1/25th scale, in 1/32nd scale it would be huge! -
Speed parts identification, and period useage

Bill, thanks for the comments- these units weren't available in scale until a few years ago. I wonder what the real life price would be compared to a quick change. -
The theoretical gear drives would be 90 degrees driven from the center of the crankshaft. Each supercharger would feed to 8 cylinders- in this picture the supercharger nearest the viewer would feed the front 8 cylinders and the one on the other side would feed the rear 8 cylinders. Feeder pipes from large diameter exhaust pipes will be cut and fitted from the superchargers to the intercooler plenums. I am also working on a scratch built distributor which will mount between the camshaft drives. No additional pix at this point, will post more when progress is made.

Bummer not getting out, but do you have oven cleaner in the house? Put the painted parts in a plastic container with a lid and spray the painted parts heavily, wait a few days, then remove from the bath and scrub with an old toothbrush. This is also how I remove chrome. Don't know if dishwasher detergent either powdered or gel would work, since they are also lye based.

Does anyone recognize this engine? Been in my parts stash for years, got it in a parts box and always thought it was an Allison, but maybe not? I also have no idea what the big transmission is from.

Lots of great inspiration and modeling here!

That's about the nicest 57 Chevy I have ever seen- scale or full size!

Bill, thanks for the info- one does not usually see the underside of cars so I don't know if anyone has ever tried this. What do you think the last year of Ford it could live happily under?
