We were treated to an unauthorized deluge of spam posts this morning. The posts have been dealt with as have the accounts that created them. We've put some deterrents in place and they seem to be working. If this happens again, please don't hesitate to report the post(s). We have automatic moderation enabled that will hide posts with too many reports. If a post looks suspicious or out of place, do not click on any of their links!!! Ever. The editing limit was put into place, and will remain for a while. I realize this inconveniences a few people, but it's a better alternative than having a bunch of malware posts on the forum. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to PM me. Dave Ambrose Managing Editor, Model Cars Magazine

Coronado Island is a world unto itself. It's lovely to visit, a great place to bike ride, and will be dropping below sea level. It's also a world full of entitlement, wealth, and Karens.

"Customer states..."

I watch this on occasion. It gets painful after a few minutes. -

My sister turned me on to this ever so many years ago. Loved the Byrds. Loved CSN, and CSNY. And all these years later, it still sounds great. -

Yes. I use it so much I didn't even notice. -
Thank you for the pictures! I can think of worse places to be stuck. Hope you make it home okay.

Model Car t shirts????
Dave Ambrose replied to Tom Kren's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
Thanks for all the interest. We'll have them at shows. If you come to NNL West, or GSL, we'll have them there. -
A life hack that pertains to model building......
Dave Ambrose replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
There is a software engineering aphorism to the same effect. By the time you get most of the project done, you will have discovered that multiple simplifying assumptions you made are simply wrong. That said, some part of them aren't all that important and can be ignored. The rest are important and must be fixed. Figuring out which is which is the real art and wisdom component. -
Anybody Else Having Problems Posting Pictures?

Thanks, I'll try that method, and see what, if anything, our logs tell us. -
Anybody Else Having Problems Posting Pictures?
Dave Ambrose replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in How To Use This Board
Posting pictures is a two step process. I drag and drop the pictures into the bar at the bottom of the posting box. You can also click the choose files... text. Then, position the text cursor in the post box to where you want the picture to appear, then go down to the picture, and click on the insert text at the bottom of the thumbnail image. That does the actual insertion into the posting. I'll go check and see if there are any known bugs in this area. -
Issue #217 is wrapped and at the printer. This time we dive into things that haul with several great stories on some inspiring car haulers. If that isn’t enough, we also build the new Modifed kit that just came out from Wes’s Model Car Corner. Some great show coverage and much more fills out this packed issue.

Cell phone cameras...what do you use & why?
Dave Ambrose replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have an iPhone 13 Pro. It's a very good camera, albeit pricey. That said, I tend to keep my phones for 5 or 6 years. -
What did you see on the road today?
Dave Ambrose replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Folks, the no politics, and no religion rules should be well known to you all. You agreed to them when you signed up. If there is anything political in the US, it's firearms. You all know better. Don't discuss them any further. Period. -
Went shopping for 1/4" SAE washers at "home improvement" center. Look at the ones in the bag. Those are labeled 1/4", but they're a bit bigger. (I'm guessing 8mm) Open the box because when you have British cars, you need washers. Same thing. Wrong size. The bonehead buyers never realize they're getting ripped off by their suppliers. Will be going to the real hardware store where they know the right sizes.

We (MCM) are seriously unhappy with the delivery situation, but at this point in time, there isn't a lot we can do about it. Northern Europe and Australia are particular trouble areas. I strongly suspect that the US Postal Service is the problem for reasons I won't go into here. There have been improvements, but we still have some areas of the US with chronically slow delivery. Getting the magazine mailed out turns out to be a surprisingly complex activity.

It's okay to post higher resolution pictures. We have disk space for this purpose. Similarly, we don't have a limit on the number of pictures. So far, this hasn't been a problem, but if it does, we'll address it then. The board will only load them as you scroll them into view. (aka lazy loading) this enables us to use high res images with much less impact that they used to have.

If you click the "X" to close the dialog, it doesn't update the page. There's a link on that notice to see the replies. You can also refresh the page in the browser to see the new replies.

NNL North Coverage?
Dave Ambrose replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
There hasn't been any coverage for a while. It's on our wish list, but we need someone in the area who can photograph the models well, and write the captions. -
216 was delivered to the post office and should be on its way to you. Hot rods caught our attention for this issue, and there is still a nice assortment of other topics to pique your interest. We hope you enjoy it!

Congratulations to all three of you. Parenthood is challenging, but ultimately, it's the best thing you'll ever do.

A Pontiac that beat Ferrari?
Dave Ambrose replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very interesting. I never heard of this before. Now who makes a '63 Pontiac Tempest.? . . . . -
I think everyone's on their best behavior for the rehearsal dinner. They will save their problematic behavior for holidays and other recurring special occasions. ?
