  1. We have similar situations here too, but we thankfully never get snow down this low. They leave us lamenting our lack of ion canons.
  2. I can't promise to post your bail, but you'll certainly have my sympathy if you punched that dude. I can authoritatively state that Gregg is not planning to retire at this time. The magazine is an ongoing enterprise that we want to have around for many years to come. The published of Model Car Builder is retiring. They just published their last issue.
  3. The Back Issues page is on the web site again at https://www.modelcarsmag.com/back-issues-2/
  4. PM me, and I can check your subscription. We are supposed to have a back issues page. But, some bone-head (that would be me) made it inaccessible. Let me get that fixed, and you'll be able to buy a 211 as a back issue.
  5. @Mike C. @Redisetta @showrods @Lunajammer Are you all on mobile devices? (e.g. phone or tablet) I've seen it on desktop, but only rarely. This looks to be some unholy interaction between our forum software and Google Ads. Our first step here will be to update to the current version of the forum software. I will get that scheduled forthwith.
  6. Bill, They must like beer.
  7. Driveability aside, that car looks wicked.
  8. Turns out the decal sheet is available for a modest amount so I've decided to build mine in Amelia Earhart colors.
  9. I’ve had my eye on this kit for a while. Found it for a reasonable price. Going to get the Amelia Earhart decals for it.
  10. Have him register for this board, then you can PM each other.
  11. Most likely some machine broke it. I bought a book and a Dan Gurney poster from The Petersen Museum. They get here, and the package is crushed in the middle. Book and poster are damaged. I contact me, and they send out another one. Crushed exactly the same way, but this time the book survived. Third try, the guy at the Petersen double-tubes the poster. The box still arrives crushed in the same place, but this time the poster survived, and it's now on my wall. This was a LOT of hassle for a $20 clearance poster. Sadly, this never seems to register as a problem with the shipping company. Maybe that's something else Amazon has going for them. I almost never have shipping damage with them, probably because that directly costs them money.
  12. I'm frustrated by the poor built-in search too. The software vendor has offered a solution, but that solution takes a lot of work to install, and some unknown amount to maintain. I will eventually take a look at it, but at this point, I too many more urgent things that need my attention.
  13. At this point, the forum serves that function for the magazine's readership. There are a lot of reasons for that, but the big one is timeliness. It's over a month between the latest time for us to receive the material, and the time it gets mailed. Then it takes weeks for the post office to deliver it. Usually, by the time something contemporary gets published, it's irrelevant. It's unfortunate, but that's just the environment we're operating in now. It definitely affects the type of content we publish. If you want to comment on the magazine itself, you can either post it here, or send me a PM and I will share it with the rest of the editorial board. Otherwise, you can post in General Automotive or the Off-Topic Lounge.
  14. I've asked my kids not to fight over my kit stash. They smile and say they won't. Not sure who's going to end up with the Disney Nautilus, but anything they don't want can go to our model car club.
  15. I missed this too. I liked watching him race when I was young. He was one of the good guys. Relieved that he isn't suffering now. It was a life well lived.
  16. If you want their email address, you need to ask them for it. The email you get from the forum is a notification that you have a PM. Replying to the notification email gets sent to one of the MCM accounts, and I get to see what you sent them. To reply to the PM, you need to come to the forum and reply there.
  17. Google is our frenemy. I went through and blocked a bunch of ads. Reported a bunch too. It seems to be someone's favorite game. That someone isn't me. ?
  18. Sad to see him go, but he got a nice, long run. To Sir, with Love was my favorite of his movies.
  19. There are over 150 breweries in San Diego County. We have a lot of good beer to choose from. My current favorites are Ballast Point Grunion, and 5 Suits Pit BOS Hefeweitzen. I also like, in no particular order, Elysium Space Dust, Sierra's Hazy Little Thing, and Anchor Steam.
  20. Two of my adult kids in the living room building models this afternoon.
  21. Very nice! I love Bug Eyes, but I just don't fit in one very well. My son has a '70 Midget that's under restoration.
  22. This is strange. I can see those just fine. We did just renew some of the server credentials, so that might be a problem until they propagate. But at this point, I don't have any good ideas. Will check with the server people this week. I have a growing number of questions and issues for them.
  23. There are several ways to copy photos. Are you selecting the photo, pressing cntrl-C, then pasting? You could also copy the image URL. This is probably the best way. Alternatively, you could save the image locally and reload it to your posting. Also, which topics are you trying to reference? Feel free to PM me if you prefer.
