  1. Very nice, Ron. Charlie Larkin
  2. It's tough when you lose someone who's not only a major driving force behind a club or an event, but someone who is also esteemed and respected by his peers is what takes bad and makes it worse. My sincerest condolences to TSMCC and his family in this time of great loss. Charlie Larkin
  3. When I've taught, I've had kids that are born and bred here....and I still can't understand anything. Maybe I should transcribe the conversations and send them to Chuck assuming I end up back in a classroom next year. Charlie Larkin
  4. That was.....very poorly structured. Charlie Larkin
  5. Ooohhh...I forgot abut Penn and Teller. That'll be fun. One of the best magic acts. I've heard Frank, Jr. does Vegas every so often. A friend of mine went to see him at Twin River in Rhode Island and said "not quite his dad, but still very, very good; well worth the money and time." If I find myself drifting out there, I'll have to see what's playing. AAA can probably get me the list of what's where. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nice score! That two-tone green is really nice, Steve. Are you considering recreating that? I also remember a '59 Safari you'd see around here every so often that was a two-tone beige/copper that was a nice looking car. Charlie Larkin
  7. Excellent job. Charlie Larkin
  8. Oops. Someday, I'll learn not to write stuff half-asleep. Charlie Larkin
  9. Looks good, Steve. As to the steering column cover....remember, it was the era (error?) of "Mack the Knife" at FoMoCo. Charlie Larkin
  10. I might grab one of these myself. I like something different, and the Kapitan is a pretty car. Charlie Larkin
  11. This is pretty easy. Take a small sauce-pan and heat the water to just over luke-warm. Place the part in the water for a minute or two, until it's pliable, and then hold it on a flat surface until it cools. I'd recommend a small block of wood with a couple of clamps to hold it in place tightly and flat until it dries and cool. I'd use either the ratcheting mini-clamps or spring-loaded c-clamps with a small piece of wood or plastic between the jaw and the part to prevent damage. Charlie Larkin
  12. Generally, I use either flat paints with a semi-gloss clear or semi-gloss paint. If I need to use gloss paint, I hit it with semi-gloss. Makes for sort of an Armor-All look. Charlie Larkin
  13. If I am in fact able to make it to DSC, I'll be consulting with you and Dan for good places to check out, although it might end up being a very short trip (arrive Friday, leave Sunday or Monday.) Charlie Larkin
  14. Are there still any good, truly quality shows there? I still see Vegas as Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Tony Bennett and all the other good acts that have either retired or died. I've joked the only reason I'd go to Vegas is if I wanted to elope. If a good show were still there, though, I might entertain going, maybe bring a roll of quarters for giggles...who knows, maybe I'll win enough the un(der)-employment may no longer be an issue. Charlie Larkin
  15. I was going to suggest similar. I've had fairly good results with brushing some aluminum paint into the buckets, and then attaching with white glue, which gives an ever-so-slightly opaque quality to the lens. Charlie Larkin
  16. Go far enough north, and the gene pool starts to become rather limited.... Same thing in a lot of parts of Franklin and Berkshire Counties here, too. Charlie Larkin
  17. A T as an occasional toy, maybe. 4-wheel internal-expanding drum brakes do have their advantages....(preferably hydraulic.) Charlie Larkin
  18. Well....let's see.... I listen mostly to WBZ (AM 1030) and WJIB when I'm inside 128 (AM 740), so that doesn't bother me... Air I don' mind, although over the years, I've had so many cars with non-working a/c that it doesn't bother me that much one way or the other except when it's really humid, especially with the newer cars that have such good aerodynamics, half the time, putting the window down doesn't make a bit of difference. Vinyl interiors never bothered me very much. I actually rather like them in wagons like I drive. Hot/sticky? Put a Kool Kushion on the seat. Problem solved. Manual windows, locks, etc., don't bother me, either. Having had power stuff break/untraceably short out, etc., mechanical linkages look really good. At least fixing the manual stuff is pretty straight-forward. Oh, wait, I guess I am a bit of Luddite....perhaps I proved Rob's point. Charlie Larkin
  19. For sale in limited markets....the Ozarks, Appalachia, and portions of northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and central and western Massachusetts. Charlie Larkin
  20. Did not know that. I'll have to add one of those to my "look for" list, now. Charlie Larkin
  21. Agreed, great interior shots, VERY nice engine, great model overall. Charlie Larkin
  22. Very cool. Congratulations, Billy. Charlie Larkin
  23. Personally, I'd pony up a little extra and get a Ford Focus hatch. More room, about the same mileage and a fair bit more space. I'm not exactly small, and find a Focus fairly comfortable. Alternately, a Hyundai Elantra Touring would also offer more/about the same as a Focus, perhaps for a bit less money. Want still more space for less money as it will be older? If you can find a nice, low-mileage 2000-07 Focus wagon, you'll be very happy with it based on the reports of a few people I know that have them. 35-38 mpg on the highway is pretty regular, with about 30 in-town. Charlie Larkin
  24. Nice job on this, Larry. Charlie Larkin
