As far as I know Bill Elliott drove the No 11 car for Junior Johnson 1992-94 before starting his own team in 1995. -
Bill Elliott transporter questions
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think this hauler is Bill Elliott's, if you look closely at the rear of the trailer you see the "Mongoose" logo, so this looks to be Tom "The Mongoo$e" McEwen's transporter, and Tom was sponsored by Coors for a while...but the truck is a Ford allright, CL9000. Bill drove Fords for a long time so some of the trucks would be Ford CL9000, L9000 and Aeromax, later towards the end of his carieer when he drove Dodge the transport trailer was hauled by a Freightliner Century and Coronado. Here are some of Bill's haulers from different years I had in my files. Freightliner Coronado Ford CL9000 and Aeromax and a C series. Bill Elliott transporter questions
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The teams Bill Elliott raced for used several tractors and trailers so it depends on team and year, Ford, Freightliner, Peterbilt and Kenworth are some of the tractors I have seen used for Elliott's haulers. The trailers they have used in racing the last 25 years has two stories, the rear door is a lift gate so the cars are on the upper floor and you can have two cars there, the bottom floor is the "shop" where they have all parts and tools, work benches, storage cabinets and such, and in front goose neck of the trailer there is a lounge or office. Most racing teams use Featherlite trailers specially built for racing, but there are other manufacturers out there. The old AMT racing transporter model from 1990 is not really correct for time period, it's the old Trailmobile moving van with some new parts to make it to a race car transporter and only holds one car, back in the late 70's when racing teams started to use 18 wheel haulers they often used moving vans but by late 80's and early 90's the purpose built racing transporter trailers was widely in use and they are very sophisticated today. The tractor AMT had in mind to haul their racing transporters was the Kenworth T600A Canepa but you can use whatever tractor you want. -
Yes most likely, I don't have the skills to do that myself as I have no training in CAD or a CAD program. But I do have a lead.

Since about three years I own a 63½ Galaxie 500 XL so I do have some knowledge about them. All wheels was 14 inch and you could get either the regular wheel cover...these were also available without the spinner. Or the optional wire cover This is also a style of wheel cover used on 63 Galaxies but I don't know if it was available on XL's. My car was delivered from the factory with the wire caps...but I have 7X15 and 8X15 wheels with the poverty caps on it now as I like the look, that's why I'm looking for them so I can do a model of my car. Here is a new picture as the one in my first post disappeared...this is my car by the way.

Need some assembly help with AMT Pete 352

The rear suspension on the 359 "Small Window" and 352 kits is the Western Unit Stabilaire, later Peterbilt did the later Air Leaf and Freigtliner took over the Stabilaire, called it FAS Airliner and used it up to the late 80's when it was replaced with a more modern unit. In the beginning they used two ride hight/level control valves per axle like in the kit, but this has later changed to one as the axle itself is solid and you don't need more than one, the ride hight/leveling control valve actuator rods are mounted on the round bar between the leaf springs the air bags are mounted to and not to the axle itself, so the kit instructions is right as the valves are supposed to be behind the axle facing rearwards...they are quite crude tho' and need some improvement. Here is a picture from a Peterbilt broshure to explain. -
I have not seen any of these anywhere, but the old Jo-Han finned M/T Hemi valve covers are available from several resin casters.

I couldn't have said it better. The heyday when the sales was great like back in the 60's and 70's is most likely gone but there is still a market for models, it has been turbulent for a while but it looks like it will sort out.

I agree with the others, you don't have to worry, Tom is good and I used to buy a lot from him back in the Hobby Heaven days but he changed the business and reformed the company to Spotlight Hobbies and wasn't selling any new kits for a while when the ownership of Revell and AMT were turbulent, so I had to do my shopping elsewhere...but he's back to selling new kits and I wouldn't hesitate buying from him again.

Ford 352 FE
Force replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The chassis from the '60 Starliner should work fine with some modifications. The standard engine in the Starliner is supposed to be a 352 High Performance so it doesn't have the air cleaner in your picture as the HP engines had open element air cleaners, and the exhaust manifolds are also different as they have individual runners. But the air cleaner can be found in the '58 Edsel kit wich also has a nice FE (unfortunately a bit under scale), the '66 Thunderbird also has this air cleaner and I looked in the '62 Thunderbird kit wich also has a nice FE and the air cleaner is similar but wider and more low profile to clear the hood, it has the standard non HP exhaust manifolds tho'. As Brian says, the engine in the '60 Starliner kit is the best early FE out there and if you have the 2 'N 1 kit you get parts to do most of the FE versions that was available up to the mid 60's...except for the mentioned air cleaner and exhaus manifolds. -

There are two more resin DD 12V-71 engines I know of, Auslowe has one and Mo'luminum has one. I bought one from P&P Resin Works some time ago but it can be the same as Gary's. -
Awesome work as usual Rickard.

Transfer Truck Box/trailer setup
Force replied to U_ser_ID's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
For the truck and trailer you can maybe find something if it isn't too new (most US truck kits are from the early 70's to mid 80's), but the truck box and trailer transfer box you have to make yourself. -
2019 Round2 - more trucks expected for release
Force replied to steve1970's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
My issue has chrome plating, I don't know what year it was made as there is no copyright year on it anywhere, but the kit number is T521 with the boxart above so it can be the first issue, I also have the single 27' trailer kit T525 and it also have plating. Well I prefer the plating because it's easier to remove than to try to replicate it...at least where I live as we don't have any plating service. Yes you can use Alclad or Molotov but I still like to have the parts chrome plated from the manufacturer...then at least I have the option to do what I want. -

B.R.B.O Chevy Titan 90
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice result, you did a good job of it. One have to remember that most of the AMT truck kits was originally issued in the early to mid 70's (the first came 1969) and has been re-issued again and again over the years so the molds are quite worn...so a lot of cleanup is for sure necessary for most of them. -
Revell 1969 Mustang Boss 302............My take with pics!
Force replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looking at pictures of the revised model and the real cars I have to agree with you, they still haven't entirely captured the look the real cars front have. Something has bugged me about the front since I saw the pictures of the revised model, I think the "eyebrows" above the outer headlights could have been even more straight and flat, because the front of the real '69 Mustang has a mean and angry look to it and the model still does not really have that. But as you say, it's way better than it was. -
Porsche horizontal cooling fan ides?
Force replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The thing I find most difficult do replicate is the semi-translucent beigeish color of the plastic Porsche used on the fans, fan shroud and many other things on the racing cars. -
I also have the book you are talking about...and I also have collected magazines about their cars from the late 60's early 70's era. The book could have been more detailed and tell more of what cars they used, when, wich class and sanctioning body as they ran several cars in different classes and sanctioning bodys, and there are some faults in the book like wrong model year on some cars and such...but as you say, many good pictures. Sox&Martin cars can be a bit confusing because they used several cars each year. They had at least two or maybe even more B-body cars in 1968, I have seen pictures of one GTX with a 440 and one Road Runner with a 426 Hemi, the Hemi car has the cartoon road runner sticker behind the door and the GTX doesn't...I also have pictures of two different paint schemes on the 68 cars, one where the red on the side going all the way down and one where the lower part is white, I don't know if they are the same cars or if they had more. I have seen pictures of one GTX and at least two Road Runner's for 1969, one RR with a 440 6BBL they called "Project Wedge" (it has the 6BBL scoop) and one RR with 426 Hemi, the Hemi car also had a scoop, and radiused rear wheel wells wich none of their other B-body cars had, and it has the same cartoon road runner decal the 68 car had, I don't know if it's the 68 car updated with 69 grille and tail lights or if it was a new build. I have also seen pictures of a 69 Road Runner they ran in Modified Production with a 67 hood scoop on it. One more thing with the Sox&Martin cars is that they doesn't allways have side markers, they were very different between 68 and 69 and would tell what year the body is...but they are not on all cars they had.
