1/25 Paxton Turbine Indy source?
jas1957 replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have two of the MPC 1/20 kits but my scale bigotry still wants a 1/25 one. Every time I pull the Jorgenson kit out I get depressed. It is such a big challenge. -
1/25 Paxton Turbine Indy source?
jas1957 replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
There was a resin kit done by Bill Jorgenson some years ago. He used to sell regularly on eBay, have not seen him there in years. The kit is decent looking but as with all Joergenson kits take some doing to get a finished model. I have been playing around with mine on & off for years. -

53 Corvette hardtop?
jas1957 replied to russosborne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He may have been talking about or seen the Corvair show car from 1952 ? It was basically a Corvette with a fastback hard roof. Someone many years ago did a resin kit, do not remember who. -
I would also have to vote for the AMT 1969 El Camino Soapbox Derby kit. The ONLY one I have ever seen is the one I bought in 1970. Just about every other kit mentioned I have at least seen at one time or another but the El Camino, nada.

I had read that his survivors did not have the passwords to access the web site so they are unable to shut it down. Do not know if that is accurate info or not but it makes sense. I was always going to order his hot rod flathead V12.

just acouple of newbie question
jas1957 replied to sheena's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
For shock absorber springs many guys are using ball point pen springs. -
These parts also are in the Mod Rod kit # T254 from about 1970 & the Street Rod Series kit # A129 from about 1973.
-
I did this exact conversion just this year, used the MPC GTO funny car body. Which is a stock promo body & used the MPC 1972 GTO for chassis & interior. Not a perfect copy of an original '69 kit but close enough & it looks great.

1967 Ford Custom sedan or coupe
jas1957 replied to jefropas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
AMT produced a 1967 full size Ford kit. IIRC Motor City Resin Casters produces one. -
First just about all the info you need are on the two flyers posted above. The toy show is open 9-2, $7 admission, the NNL is open 10-4, $10 admission. There is lots of free parking a couple hundred feet from the door. For your $10 admission you may bring in as few or as many models as you wish. Also we do not have a web site but we do have a Facebook page, search NNL Nationals. If anyone has any more questions please post them here or on the Facebook page. I will be checking both every couple days & will try to answer as many as possible. There is also a partial hotel list on the Facebook page.

Please help ID this piece of garage equipment
jas1957 replied to Mark B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It looks like an air powered grease gun. I used one that looks just like that for 35 years where I recently retired from. The whole body lifts off the base & holds a 120 pound drum of chassis grease. -

Revell customer service vs. Round 2's
jas1957 replied to unclescott58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Within the last year I have had two Round 2 kits with a missing or damaged part. Followed the instructions on their web site & for the cost of a stamp received the parts in a few days. -
SC Miller was one of if not the first to do home casting of model cars. I believe he used polyester resin instead of the now common polyurethane resin. As was said above his stuff was all one piece mold slush cast. He did a lot of interesting subjects. He died a number of years ago. Even if not to build his models were an interesting part of model car history.

MCW Resin Kits - Studebaker Lark
jas1957 replied to fseva's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have built a couple of his kits, he does not chrome the bumpers & grills. You will have to use Al Clad or send them out to one of the chrome plating companies. It is not perfect but if you want a Lark it is the only game in town. As any kit plastic or resin with a little time & effort a nice model can be built. -

Like all MCW resin kits it is very nice clean casting that will build a good looking model. -
MCW Resin Kits - Studebaker Lark
jas1957 replied to fseva's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have built the MCW Studebaker Lark. It is based on the old Jo Han promo. It is a bit larger than 1/25 scale, maybe 1/22 or so. I opened the hood & made a full detail model out of it. Modified a '41 Plymouth flat six the replicate the Stude flat six.
