You're right JC. I'm gonna hook one of those up. Bob -
MCM Forum - expert work expected?
Dragline replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I take my pics with a good grade digi camera and I have a tripod. But I always take my pics on my bench with so much stuff in the background taking away from the overall build. My fault? 100% kiddo.... Will it change? When I get space. No excuses for blurry pics. I'll retake em if I have to. The cell phone and digi both have previews to see if you got it right. Use it. Wow, taken to its logical extreme. Dandy little roadster. Bob

As mentioned several times before that color combo is outta sight. Well executed as well. Very clean. Bob

MCM Forum - expert work expected?
Dragline replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For my part, I tend to look at most things and comment when I am genuinely impressed. I see plenty of "getting started" or "This is all I'm putting into it" builds as well. I pass on commenting on them due to the feather ruffle effect it may cause. If I'm silent, I'm either not really into the subject, or it's finished look does not appeal to me. What does that mean? A hill of beans really. I'm a middle of the road builder. I'm no Clay Kemp, but I'm not a Johnny Q Glueslinger either. And I tend to hold builds till I feel they are worthy for the eyes of this forum. I have built things with the back of my mind wondering if it is in fact good enough to show here. And that's a Good Thing.. That means I'm upping my game every time I put paint to plastic. That means my peers [those who haunt this place] opinions mean quite a bit to me personally. I've shown builds here before that were super clean OOB and got 3 attaboys and little else [search Honda RA272]. That was a clean OOB build but the subject perhaps held little interest to those at the time. I saw another build of the same kit and it went on for 3 pages. Did that bother me? Perhaps on some level we all want some kind of appreciation, so yes, in some ways it did. Did it stop me from posting or building? yeah right..... I put the front emblem on the GoMad Nomad on upside down!!!!!! Yes, upside down. I got one comment telling me so and that was it. No ridicule, no butt hurt. I fixed it [but didn't post the fix] and went on about my day. Public is public. Warts and all you have to take what comes if you put it out there. Bob -

Sorry dude, can't be more than 100% wrong. Can't give more than 100% effort either. That's straight up Coach jargon. -

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE POLISH?
Dragline replied to PARTSMARTY's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too use 3M Perfect It but I follow it with Novus. Then Turtle Wax. Bob -
Not crazy about other brand motors in cars like this but it is pretty cool. My fave year and type Stang too.

Dragwaye ( not for the weak at heart.)

Did a quick Google and that guy above with the V8 is indeed the Michigan Mad Man. I wonder why my Mums called him Mad Man Michigan? I'll have to call her on that one and see. Bob -

I remember this guy back in the early 70's called Mad Man Michigan. I got to see him run back then but remember precious little. Seems like these biker daredevils were all the rage for quite a while. -
Of all the things that need to be reissued, these bikes are at the top of my list. Great build bro. Bob

1:1 Cars that had an effect on you, and why.
Dragline replied to Rodent's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My neighbor's brand new 1970 Z28 was it for me. I was completely in love at first sight. I liked the 69's well enough, but his sister babysat me and I was head over heels for her [at 6]. That car really put cars in general on the map for me. Before that it was the odd Matchbox or Hotwheel. Of course motorcycles were all I really knew in those days. My dads was the best and his Bro's were OK too. Everyone else's stunk as far as I was concerned. Bob -
Started as a wagon...... I had to re-read it. Superb execution. I think we can let the black knob slide....

Very nice indeed Sir. -
I'll be sure to tell him John.

This is typical Norm Veber packaging. He goes to great lengths to cast things of beauty and then package them so they arrive as perfect as they came out of the molds. Norm is a very detail oriented guy, and it has been my pleasure to get to know him over the years. You should see how he sets up at our MAMA meetings. Always meticulous and affable, and always willing to chat about what you may need and see if he can do it. Norm is the BEST for these reasons and many others. I will see him this coming Saturday and will probably get one of these for my stash. Get one while you can guys. Bob

Loving this build and all your extras. I have a few kits here and I plan on making a replica of my own bike soon. It's strange that only the Tamiya kits have the rocker bolts on the shovels. All my asian kits lack this detail. I'll just drill and scratch em, but it seems an odd omission to me. I also love that green chop/bob but I was always told green bikes were bad luck unless they were WLA or X models. Of course this is just old bike lore I picked up from the many biker types I have run into through my father and his various/nefarious dealings with that world. Watching and waiting to steal some tricks....... Bob

Building season is back! 1904 De Dion Bouton
Dragline replied to Harry P.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking really fine Harry. I love your process, it always makes me smack my head in a "Duh" for not having thought of a particular technique. Because of your WIP's I have bought several cans of the paints you've indicated and the results are very good. It's appreciated. Bob -
New Polar Lights Full-Glue Batmobile Kit
Dragline replied to ranma's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Deluxe versions are also available at Amazon at reasonable prices. It's definitely worth the extra dough for the Ultimate Batmobile IMHO. It's where I got mine last year and I'm happy to have it. Bob -
Geez Cato, not sure what to say that hasn't been said. Museum Quality for certain as stated above. Going the extra ten miles is seriously paying off dude. Bob
-
Got mine today and the frame is dead nuts straight. Hopefully that was an isolated incident. This is quite a package with the transfer and retro boxing. I also got my Buddy Baker Charger in the same shipment. What an epic kit this Charger is. I have the Petty kit as well so knew what to expect, but this just takes me back.. I'll post some pics later after I've swilled a beer or two and relaxed from the days work. Bob

Well, I bought resin ones like the ones pictured over a year ago. Since I have both glue versions i guess I'm good. Thanks
