Interesting...I wondered the origin of that phrase. 'modded' is the more common phrase today, I think.

The straight 6 is back
Rob Hall replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you think it’s such a great idea, write FCA a letter. They will probably dismiss you as another crackpot. -

Ancient history. Not relevant. And it hadn't been out of production for a decade... -
The straight 6 is back

It's long out of production, it would probably not be cost-effective to get it to meet 2020 emission standards, and the tooling has probably been scrapped. I think it's better for FCA to develop their own products than use someone else's castoffs... now if it were a current engine, they could probably make a business case for it or a JV of some sort. Why would any company want to use some other company's engine that's been out of production for decade? Makes no sense.... -

That engine hasn’t been in production in a decade... I doubt if FCA would be interested in an obsolete GM engine. -
The straight 6 is back

I read an article about it on Allpar last month..still just a rumor at this point, but it seems plausible. I liked the 4.0 6 my WJ had. Though the 3.6 DOHC V6 in my WK2 has more power and torque. https://www.allpar.com/mopar/V6/tornado.html -

BMW never went away from inline 6s. I've read that FCA may be working on a new inline 6 for Jeep. -
I guess we will find out next month...

Nothing on the box art or in the blog posts says they are pre-finished. That would be unusual for Round 2 to do something like that...AMT model boxes normally show kits finished or illustrations, you don't see unpainted parts shown on the box..if kits are molded in color, it's usually called out on the box. Though didn't they have a pre-finished soda machine w/ some of the Coke or Pepsi trucks? (same item?)

'70 Chevelle kit - Revell vs. AMT
Rob Hall replied to atomicholiday's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Actually, the '64-67 Chevelles had a 115" wheelbase..'68-72 Chevelle 2drs had a 112" wheelbase ('68-72 4drs and wagons had a 116" wheelbase). -
Modelroundup has both sets for preorder for around $25 each IIRC.

Dog Dish Caps to '69 Camaro or Nova??
Rob Hall replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Missing Link has offered them in the past in chromed form, not sure if they are currently available. The Revell '69 Nova COPO kit comes with them (green car on box), as does the Revell '69 Camaro COPO kit (orange car on the box)> -
Social media has it's place... I've never had issues w/ Facebook, I've found it quite useful for staying in contact w/ family, friends and former co-workers scattered around the country. As well as special interest groups relative to me for various dog breeds, model kits and model building, diecast, various cars, local events and news, etc. I like Twitter for news related to various interests and people in motorsports and the software industry. I use LinkedIn for professional contacts and staying current w/ my profession. I use Instagram to a lesser degree, but it's useful for photos of 1:1 cars that give me ideas about possible kit builds.

Moebius '65 F-100 Flareside Pickup!
Rob Hall replied to Art Anderson's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Looks nice..I'll probably get a couple, one to build stock and one to use the flareside bed w/ the '69 kit. -
It would be nice if Round 2 could come up with other newly tooled vintage style rims, using this one style over and over and over again (must be at least 1/2 dozen kits in the last 2-3 years with them) is getting pretty boring...

Straight reissue of an original 1959 AMT kit, was last out around 2007. Curbside, separate hardtop, builds as a coupe or convertible. This is the box art of the last reissue:

Interesting. I remember the original stock only and the street machine only versions, thought the Milleniium one was stock only.
-
I don't think those parts were ever in the Bel Air..this will build stock or an '80s style street machine.
-
I saw Bullitt w/ my older sister, who has been a Mustang and McQueen fan longer than I've been alive..;)

Regarding the '55 Chevy Bel Air, it's the first time they have had the stock and street machine parts all together in one kit, IIRC...

Hot Wheels 50th anniversary tour pictures
Rob Hall replied to vamach1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got this neat Hot Wheels 50th anniversary book in the mail last week, in a case made like an old diecast car case. -
Sounds like it was just briefly out of stock..Modelroundup shows them back in stock today.
