  1. Buick does have an Opel-based convertible in the their lineup now, the new Cascada, but it's a FWD 4 seater...
  2. The MPC Pinto wagon builds as a stock '79.
  3. A couple of the Yeti's platform-sharing siblings are sold in the US, albeit w/ more mainstream styling--the VW TIguan and Audi Q3..
  4. I have in the past on a couple of occasions, bought gifts for myself and wrapped them and put cards to myself from myself on them (these were at times when I had holiday get togethers w/ family). Kind of did it as a joke... I get 'gifts' for myself all the time, so not really anymore...
  5. No spoilers from me either; I really, really enjoyed it. Probably going to go again after Christmas w/ my sister and my brother back in Ohio. I went w/ friends, a couple of them brought their kids--an 8-yr old and two 14 yr olds..they all loved it. Another friend did the marathon at a local theater that showed episodes 1-6. I don't have the stamina to do all in one sitting like that.
  6. Round 2's business model is built on reissues, so I can't imagine they will do anything buy reissues for the foreseeable future...
  7. IIRC the 80s issue of the MPC Barracuda had the glasspack header muffler style in the last photos of the multi photo grouping (w/ turned down tips)...don't know if the reissue that's coming has them, though.
  8. .I couldn't recall if MPC continued it to '80 or not...the 1:1 was still around in '80, marking time until the Escort came out. I've got the '78 annual wagon kit, the '79 will be nice to have.
  9. The listing I saw ( a few pages back in this thread, posted by Mr Stock) said it was a '79...the '79-80 kits were pretty much identical except for the box art, I believe.
  10. I don't think the early wagons were kitted, though...only ones I know of are MPCs from '77 onward...
  11. Saw this on Facebook w/ your other one. Very sharp builds.
  12. it is kind of neat to see the Pinto and Volare kit again, been 35+ years since they were out...those old MPC kits have their charm. The Nova and Ventura would be neat to see, it's been about 30 years since the Nova was reissued...
  13. I've noticed that before...a lot of flakyness still present w/ this software...posting photos, quoting, etc.
  14. Model Roundup is showing it as a January release, and have a pic of the retro vintage box art.
  15. Not that anyone will or can fix it, but the quoting functionality in threads is very flaky...esp. in Chrome.
  16. Whilst driving through a busy shopping district w/ two-lane streets, I came upon a Mini that was parked in the lane. Sitting on the horn yielded no results, so I got in the wrong lane and drove around the car, the occupant being a brain-dead young woman playing on her phone. Must have been waiting on a parking space to open up...
  17. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill as well as the actors that played Chewbacca and C-3PO...
  18. Yes.
  19. Saw the original in the theater at age 7, saw parts 5 & 6 in the theater as a kid also. Still have all my figures from childhood, well worn. I bought a bunch of the '90s release figures, and saw 4,5,6 when reissued in the theatres in the mid 90s. Have the movies on VHS and DVD. Looking forward to seeing the new one tomorrow..going w/ several friends of the same age (mid 40s).
  20. Very sharp. that's a '74-75 Imperial, though.
  21. Well, well...just got the payment request for mine from HLJ...time to ship it and the kits in the PW..
  22. IIRC some versions of the coupe had two engines..both the big block and the small block. The first version of the coupe I built was the circa 1980 'Barris' series one, and then later a mid 80s one that has a brown coupe on the box.
  23. A lot look pretty fake and crude, like two door coupes with stuff stuck on the back..maybe built by a kid..
  24. HLJ is now showing it as a January release.
  25. Because those were the last ones tooled by MPC, and thus are the only tooling left. The tooling got updated for each revision..same reason they are reissuing the '80 Volare kit and not the '77-79 ones..
