  1. Nice conversion work. You pulled it off well.
  2. Is it the 2 piece plastic sand tires? Is it too much to hope they tooled up a set of one piece "rubber" tires for this release (that could be used elsewhere too?)
  3. If you bought the one that's currently on the market (I think the box art model is blue) Round2 took all the non-stock parts out of this version
  4. The white plastic test shots shared by Mr Metzner at the top of pg 4 means that the tooling has been cut. Not that it can't be changed still, but the tooling has definitely been cut.
  5. Are you still able to edit this, since you found out that it does?
  6. My local HL has Mr Surfacer and Tamiya primers sitting right on the shelf next to each other. And I noticed the masking tape and weathering set on the pegs as well. Could be old stock, or different stores carrying different items.
  7. Cool idea, and it's coming together nicely. Glad you did it with fenders because I don't care for the look of the 1:1 fendeless.
  8. I certainly hope they pick up one of those. Tamiya makes sense because they already have a relationship with Tamiya (they carry their primer, some weathering pigments and some tools). But selfishly i hope it's Revell since I can get the full Tamiya line already at my LHS.
  9. See this post where bluenote pulled the text directly from the Testors Facebook page, and then confirmed via email below that. there are also at least two threads floating around here where the topic is run through. I was skeptical at first too, but then this information came to light, and since then have watched the non-Testors branded items disappear from the shelves.
  10. That's because Rustoleum discontinued the Model Master brand, along with anything Testors other than the main line. Some products may be absorbed into the main Testors line, but most of the products will disappear when current inventory is bought out.
  11. Build it! Here's a couple I built a couple years ago from parts i scrounged together.
  12. I think it is actually dropped further than what comes in the Revell kits(but I could be wrong) The spindles are definitely different
  13. Eagle-eyed member Old Dragger over on Spotlight noticed something, (and others may have too) Look what just happens to be under the 57 Chevy...and what looks like a Frame parts pack tree just to the right? Also see the end of a BADMAN box on the shelf?
  14. Thanks for brining this one up Paul. I miss Steve, as many others do as well. it's great to see one of his builds where it can be appreciated again.
  15. That really cam e out nice. I'm sure many of us have thought of doing something similar in the years since the new tool kit came out. But you actually pulled it off. Kuddos Rear tires look great, BTW ?
  16. Thanks for the info. I was kinda daydreaming that Round2 had seen fit to offer some blue lines in a kit (even better, a parts pack) but sounds like it really is a dream
  17. I don't do many build threads over here on MCM for a few reasons. The main one is that I build mostly traditional rods and customs and have a really great home for those types of builds over on TRaK. But this one won't fly there, so I'll take this opportunity to dip my toes in again here. lets see how this goes You may have noticed over in the review area I asked about the original annual run of AMT C3 Vettes, and specifically the custom parts that came in them. I've recently had my interest piqued about customized Corvettes from C1 through C2 by some builtups and box art images that have been shared on various FB groups i follow. And now that has bled into C3. I didn't realize there were actually some pretty well designed custom options put into Vette kits. When I saw the boxart with a bubble topped early 70's Vette I began my quest to find the bubble from one of these that I intended to drop onto a modern tool AMT 70 or 72 Vette I had in my stash, assuming that any of the annuals would be out of my price range. I figured this quest would take awhile. Enter my friend Ed Fluck. After seeing my post in the review section where I professed my interest in eventually procuring the custom parts of one of these 70-74 Vettes he offered up a started but complete 72 he had in his collection. It's really the perfect candidate for a build because some assembly and painting has been done. I wasn't really intending to start this project already, but a couple things pushed me in that direction. I attended a Build and Bull at my friend Chucks on Saturday and needed a project to work on, so between that and Ed's enthusiasm for this project I decided to get started. I'm not very familiar with build trends of the 70's, so I may be seeking guidance along the way. I really like these Round2 blue line drag slicks, and figured they would fit the bill. Just wish there were some matching blue line street tires for the fronts. But I guess black walls will end up being ok. Ed is sending me some wheels that should fit the bill, I'll post those when they get here. Bubble top looks pretty good on there. Tentative plans include smoothing the body, using the kit supplied custom grille and smooth lens/flush mounted taillights. Probably some simple straight tube side pipes, possibly made from polished aluminum. I'm a sucker for unique induction setups, so I plan to use the funky 8 carb with y adapter setup that comes with the kit. Here's a pic of a survivor Ed found. It will provide some helpful styling ideas, while still making it my own. I have really been struggling to find time/motivate myself to build anything, and I do have 2 projects already on the bench, so it will be interesting to see how this one progresses. But with a few friends pushing me to do this one, maybe that will provide the needed motivation. Thanks for stopping by.
  18. They might be able to do the tires by themselves because the whitewall inserts are usually separate from the main kit tooling (they have been used in quite a few different kits, but for some reason only in the Boot Hill Express they are molded in the kits color???) However, the wheels are integrated into each kits tooling, so they'd have to run the entire kit just to get the wheels for a "parts pack"
  19. And if the roof insert bothers you enough, Drag City Casting makes a revised body with a more stock appearing roof insert and other improvements. And their quality is top notch if you've never dealt with them.
  20. Dennis suggested simple rectangles of plastic glued to the backside of the insert will work. Doesn't have to go all the way around the circumference because the wheel hides any gaps.
  21. Dedicated vises for a commonly used bit size is a great suggestion. I've been doing that for awhile now. I pin a lot of assemblies together using sewing pins. So i have a vise set up specifically with the bit I use to make the hole for those pins. That way i always know it's the right size, and it's ready to go at a moments notice. Pete, I'm going to investigate the industrial bits. as i dabble more and more in brass the hobby bits won't even touch drilling through bras, and barely aluminum.
  22. Chassis looks great! I love the wheel/tire set from the new tool AlaKart. Something that was pointed out to me by Dennis Lacy on one of my current builds is that the rear whitewall needs spacers put behind it to get it flush with the tire surface.
  23. MAD is one of the best casters in the business right now. Kris is also a member here, so you can try sending him a direct message through this board. Scroll up a bit in this thread and you'll see he has posted in it. Click on his name and send him a message.
  24. Dennis, great job deciding on your concept and sticking with it. You really brought the whole thing in for a landing with your thoughtful updates while still keeping that 80's flavor.
  25. One tough looking T you have there. I love the stance, with it slung low to the pavement but with the rear still in the air a bit. Bonus points for using the Nailhead! Any idea on the source for those scoops? I know, 50 years ago and all. but they are sweet.
