  1. That's a good looking build Tim. Growing up in the 80's and raised around 50's and 60's rods and customs, the 70's is a lost decade for me. But I have seen a few rods over the last couple years that have me wanting to dip my toes into the decade. Even though it has it's fans, the Switchers series has just been generally derided over the years, and that uninspiring RC2 boxart caused me to basically ignore this kit when I did see it for sale over the last 15 years. Then when I saw this build on Facebook it caused me to give this previously bypassed kit a second look. Especially this unique body arrangement. When I found out that this build was basically box stock I began the hunt for this kit. And seeing your build just shows me that this kit will be worth my time. Thanks for sharing
  2. Looks like Atlantis was able to come to an agreement with TD. That's great news for other TD kits they should have in their tooling bank If only Revell AG/Revell USA/Blitz could work it out their own deal with TD so they could finally release the Baja Bandito/Baja Beast
  3. After seeing a really well done version of the 25 T on one of the FB survivor models pages I went on the hunt for one of my own. The survivor had the optional C cab/delivery parts on it, and I'd never seen one built that way before. What made it even cooler was the wild 70's panel paint decals. I'm going to build something close when I get my kit from a friend at next months club meeting. I've never built a 70's era rod before.
  4. My thoughts exactly. Where are people buying current catalog kits for $20 or less. Like you said, 40% off the 29.99 kits brings it down to a shade under $18. What LHS has the same kit for $20? I still have a LHS, and support them nearly every week with some sort of purchase. you will most definitely still be able to buy model kits at 40% off. They will probably bring it in line with the rotating sales they have on just about every other department throughout the year. You'll just have to pay attention to when the sale is. Unless they are going to bring the shelf price of model kits down as part of their "discounting" initiative. then the rotating sale may reduce to 20 or 30%.
  5. Built this before the Revell kit came out using an AMT roof on a revell roadster body Sport coupe body that I mastered for Rep+Min. Inspired by Keith Weesner artwork Built essentially box stock when the revell 5w kit debuted
  6. That's a good looking car. Clean conversion work as always from your bench.
  7. The change of tires makes a HUGE difference towards being more accurate. And that paint, wow!
  8. This is disconcerting for sure. I got a really nicely rendered dropped hot rod axle that is 3D printed. I hope it doesn't end up having the same issue because there are parts of it that are even thinner than what you have there.
  9. May end up picking one up if I get a good deal. I can always use more surf boards, and a van would be fun to build.
  10. Me too. I search for resin every day and never saw this one come back again. When/if it does I won't wait this time
  11. Maybe they are reluctant, but I don't know why. The Revell Hemi Hydro based kit has been released a few times by itself over the last 25 years, hasn't it? And the Hull Raiser, in my opinion, is a better kit. The only release in that time span has been the Model King release with the Bonneville. I would certainly buy at least one, if not more, if it was released by itself.
  12. Well if they continue to run the 40% off all model kits sale all the time then what's the difference? you'll just have to pay attention to which weeks the sale is running if you are travelling some distance specifically to shop there. I don't expect them to run it every other week like they have been for the last few months. If they only run it once a month I'll be happy. But I hate to think that they're running the sale every other week right now for some ulterior motive
  13. That's one tough hot rod. Great stance.
  14. Those are some tough looking hot rods. Not sure if the one with the Latham is finished, but if not here's a thought. The outlet for the "charged" fuel/air mixture is on the bottom-rear of the unit. If you can find a stock single carb intake for your flattie that is all you should need to hook up the Latham, I think. Did it myself awhile back
  15. Drag City Casting does cast them. You are correct, the top in this kit is much better than the one in the full detail AMT kit.
  16. Well, as they have shown with the 63 Nova wagon, if the molds for the upper half of the kit are gone or damaged, they can recreate those parts. Question is if it's financially viable. If they did a new tool for the body I would vote to have the doors molded in (that may be an unpopular opinion ? )
  17. I'm sorry, I don't remember. And thank you for the complimnents
  18. Like Dennis, i built mine shortly after it came out too. it is a fun, well engineered kit, that practically falls together.
  19. I think most people are well aware of the weekly 40% coupon. But these sales where all model kits are 40% is a big deal because you can buy more than one kit at 40%. For people that live close to a HL that's not a big deal, but for people who don't live close to one it makes economic sense to make one occasional trip and pick up a bunch of kits than multiple trips to get one at a time.
  20. Ma, I've been wanting to try something similar if I could ever get my hands on one of those roof pieces. I love the subtle changes you made, especially the addition of the earlier taillight
  21. Any word on the short bed conversions?
  22. I have amended my previous post
  23. I could be wrong, but I think everything on the bottom illustration except the surfboard survived in the kit to this day, including the skateboard
  24. It has been quite some time since the 28/29 pickup has been released. Probably 15 years, and definitely before Round2 took over. So I'm hoping for a retro treatment with the smooth wheels (that actually date back to the 28 sedan version his tool sprung from) . And cool boxart will be a plus. And is it too much to hope for the Hot Curl to come back?
  25. Anyone have the instructions to this version showing the mods you have to do to fit the Hemi? This is the version I want to build of this kit someday. edit- I see now this version is being rereleased, but unless they really wow me over with cool parts and decals I'll save my money and build it out of one of the 4-5 kits I already have of this.
