Wow, the paint on this looks deep enough to dive in. And very nice conversion work to the panel.

Status of Revell's '69 Boss 302?
Mr. Metallic replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I changed it to read "former" But I contend, we still don't know anything about where the actual production and distribution of kits will happen for the US market. To my knowledge, no formal announcement has been made. Yes, they may have closed the Revell US offices, but maybe they plan on establishing a new US headquarters? Again, no formal announcement has been made(to my knowledge) -
Havin' Too much fun
Mr. Metallic replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great pic, beautiful car(and the driver isn't half bad either ) Photoshop out the guys in the background and if it was black and white it could easily pass for a pic from the 40's -
Status of Revell's '69 Boss 302?
Mr. Metallic replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My understanding is that both tools were rendered out of commission by whatever happened because they share tooling. And i am referring to the roadster, because that was the one we were getting first with box art depicting the SBC in the roadster instead of the Buick Nailhead. -
I have a specific question about the Olds headers. A pair of 1/25 scale lakes style headers for Oldsmobile engines. Designed to fit the Revell '50 Olds engine or the engine found in the Revell Orange Crate or Beatnik Bandit kits.Intended for hot rods and rat rods; will not fit a stock '50 Revell Oldsmobile!Designed with integrated turnout tips. Are the heads in the Custom and Stock versions of the Revell 50 Olds different? I'm just confused because it says it's designed to fit the revell 50 Olds engine, and then it says it will not fit a stock 50 Olds. Or, do you possibly mean if the headers are installed on the engine it wont fit if it's installed in a 50 Olds? Edit: I went ahead and rolled the dice anyway without waiting for your response I'll be sure to share pics here when I receive my order.

Status of Revell's '69 Boss 302?
Mr. Metallic replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All projects that were announced that didn't make it into production before the Hobbico bankruptcy are in limbo. No announcement on any forthcoming product has been made by the former Revell USA's new ownership. Since we were told that this Mustang was close before the Hobbico bankruptcy, it's one of those projects that the new owners would be silly to scrap. If it was truly as close as we were told, it's a guaranteed revenue source from their newly purchased company, along with the similarly rumored "close to production" 29 Model A roadster. These two kits together would be a great way to reintroduce the brand and build goodwill towards the new ownership. But, right now it's a wait and see since there is no announcement. -
Nice build Bernard. Love the color.

Will Hobby Lobby be stocking the Dyno Don Cougar funny car?
Mr. Metallic replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Reset for Hobby Lobby means just that, a reset. They do it very few months. Every location is different, so if you're seeing a downsize it your location it's not typical. The two that I go to have been steady for many years now. The only thing that I see changing soon at HL is IF suppliers start running out of Revell product they may shrink the model kit area, but hopefully instead HL will compensate for that by carrying more Round2 stuff. Or maybe carry Tamiya car kits since they already stock Tamiya military kits? -
I believe the person the purchased it at the auction has announced that it will be returned to it's original, genre launching form. This is the original T-bucket, When it was the "copied" by Ivo it launched the T-Bucket craze. I say copied on quotes because i prefer Ivo's bucket better. it is distinct enough to be an icon itself, but he did copy the body style and some other elements from the Kookie T.

This is cool Michael. Looking forward to updated pictures. Just a quick note. If you're using the modern tool Revell roadster body, check your fitment to the fenders constantly. If you measure from the front of the cowl to the beginning of the rear wheel arch you'll notice it's different from side to side. That is the reason Revell has never offered the roadster with fenders. This difference side to side leaves a gap when you drop them on the fender set. I think they made it better when they tooled up the Rat Roaster body, but it's still not perfect.

Well, you have a good version of this kit to stay traditional. I say that because hidden in that 2n1 are hot rod heads for the flathead, and some other cool pieces. I'm not sure if they are listed in the instructions, but they came in the original stock version of this kit with the hunter green car on the boxtop. Ask away with any specific help you need with steering this in the traditional hot rod vein.

AMT Trophy Kits Out Now May 2018
Mr. Metallic replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, what started out as an informative thread on Trophy series kits has meandered off, as usual. So, anyone clicking this to find information on the Trophy series kits now has to wade through other content which just muddies the waters and can leave people confused. Why not start a new thread asking about the Customizing and Styline series'? I appreciate your enthusiasm for the old kits, but this is where the decent topics that you start devolve into hard to follow threads. I get some people like to treat these threads like real time conversations where wandering off to other topics is ok, but in the "written" word it makes finding what could be good information on a topics not worth the readers time to file through. -

Hey Kerry, maybe mess around with two different base coats to make your ghost stripes. Depending on the pigment of your Tangelo, it may be effected by the base coat. try it on spoons first

AMT Trophy Kits Out Now May 2018
Mr. Metallic replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So, here's a list of the 29 kits pictured (for simplicity sake, the double kits are counted singly) most have been available in the last 7-8 years under Round2 ownership in one form or another(17 released, 2 due very soon) Not many left for them to resurrect, but some that have been released already can still benefit from further restoration. Notes with an R2 mean it's been reissued in some form by Round2) 40 Ford Sedan- R2, hitting shelves very soon 53 Ford pickup- R2 57 Ford Thunderbird Dragboat 32 Ford roadster- This and the coupe are surprisingly absent from R2's reissue/restoration releases 58 Chevy- R2 25 Ford T- R2 Double dragster rail- R2 Double dragster Fiat- R2 32 Ford sedan custom 40 Willis- R2 Ala Kart- (R2 Mod Rod reissue) 29 Ford roadster- R2 49 Ford- R2 32 Ford Vicky- R2 34 Ford pickup (Now that round 2 owns Lindberg, i really wish they would return this tool under the AMT brand and do a full retro reissue!) 57 Ford- R2 Silhouette- R2 36 Ford roadster/3window- R2 57 Chevy- R2 28 Ford A sedan- Fingers crossed based on recent comments by R2 40 Ford coupe- R2 49 Merc- R2 Watson Roadster 32 Ford coupe- This and the roadster are surprisingly absent from R2's reissue/restoration releases XR-6 27 Ford phaeton- I think R2. Can't remember if the "Cop Car" version that was out a few years ago was theirs or not Dream Rod- Tiger Shark version coming soon R2 -

Wow! The mild weathering is perfect. The stance and color choices are great. This is something to aspire to when i build mine. Excellent build. -
Nice work Ismael. When this kit came out, my girlfriend at the time tried building it. Now I kinda remember why she never finished it, haha.

Revell tire project
Mr. Metallic replied to Lownslow's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I don't think he's making tires, but designing new wheels to fit all those extra tires we have in our ol' stash. I know you're offering to do the design work for free Frank, but starting off using inflammatory language like "Will consider requests as long as theyre not any torq based wheels theres enough of those ugly wheels on the planet" doesn't really foster a creative environment. I understand the sentiment you're trying to convey, but in saying it how you did may have turned people off. -
Your post is a pretty big dichotomy within itself. You begin by saying without access to accurate info it is all unsubstantiated rumor, and then in your next sentence you share an unsubstantiated rumor. I may have missed the official announcement from Revell AG that says they have to "liquidate" all current inventory before they will produce more product, but I don't think I did. Feel free to correct me if I did. And also, just because a foreign company now owns what was Revell US doesn't automatically mean higher prices. Revell AG has made no formal announcement how they plan to distribute their product in the US. Sorry, not trying to single you out. Just getting fatigued by all of the endless speculation around the Revell situation.
