Cool conversion. I much prefer the styling of the 60 over the 59, especially the front end. Coincidentally, my friend Randy Meyer started the same conversion over the weekend. The orange parts are from the Monogram Bad Actor 60 delivery, the white is the Revell 60 Impala, and the grey is the AMT 59 roof. Using the Bad Actor fin tops and rear wrap-around gave him the correct tailgate and taillight opening. He also ran into the same issue with the 59 bed being too short, which apparently is mostly due to the Revell 60 being slightly longer behind the rear wheel opening.

Chrome Platers - Again...
Mr. Metallic replied to DEL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have used ChromeTech in the past, but switched to Little Motor Kar for my last couple orders. They do really nice work, and the turnaround is reasonable. -

I definitely dig this one, so I'll be following. How do you plan to handle the windshield? -
Lindberg '34 Ford Roadster Pickup Update #1
Mr. Metallic replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Your build is looking nice. I love the Testors and Tamiya lacquers(including the OneCoats). They're so easy to work with. i just wish Testors would introduce some new colors I also have built one of these. Please forgive the rat roddy overtones. it was the style at the time -
1940 Ford A/G or B/G Gasser Build
Mr. Metallic replied to Oldmopars's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Or you could look up Drag City Castings. He has several gasser-appropriate seat options available. Here's a set I got recently. They are based on the seats from the 60's tool Revell SWC, but with a new, wider pleat pattern. -
Taillights came from my parts box, so if you think they're Corvair, you could be right. The entire engine/trans is from the Trumpeter Nova kits. This build is quite a few years old, so details are a little fuzzy(along with the pictures )

Mr. Metallic replied to youpey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is this issue present on the Aerosedan and Sedan Delivery, or just the new coupe body which was first released a few years ago? -
Anyone interested in this one?
Mr. Metallic replied to Bullitt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You beat me too it Bill I really want to combine one of these Minicraft hot rods with the 34 coupe to backdate it to true hot rod status. -
Good Model Shop in California

Yes, definitely go to Pegasus. And if you can, the Petersen. I went to LA for work a couple times and was able to squeeze in both of those on a day off. Spent hours at both places. -

Test Shots and Other Parts Oddities
Mr. Metallic replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's an interesting one that popped up on eBay last night. It poses some intriguing possibilities Revell may have been looking at at some point, either before the kits release, or even recently as a modified reissue... Revells 32 sedan. It's listed as an "engineering test shot", which kind of explains why a portion of the roof was removed. Probably to better view how all the interior panels and details were interfacing with each other after assembly. The parts of the interior look pretty standard for what came in the kit that hit the shelves. It's the engine that is intriguing. A blown HEMI? It's hard to tell if this engine tooling is the same that eventually ended up the the 5W version (minus small detail changes like the breathers, etc) or if this engine tooling was from another source. -
Wow. It's deceptive how much work is actually present in this buildup. Looking at the first few pics, you don't realize all that's going on. The firewall and frame that are molded around the engine and suspension components, and then the hinging of the doors. Not to mention the scratchbuilding and integration of the Jag suspension. Very nicely done, in such a subtle package.

Aurora's Show Rod kits in 1:32 scale
Mr. Metallic replied to blunc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Shhh! I'm just getting into collecting these, and if you start touting their attributes it's going to make it harder for me to keep building my collection. All kidding aside, I dig these fun little time capsules. I acquired built-ups of the woody (the version with the tv camera and stuff all over) and the 32 Ski-doo earlier this year for a good deal. Always on the lookout for others. -
Another stunner. Very cool. I know there are many of us who have also thought of doing one of these ourselves. It will be hard to live up to the standard you've set with your builds

I'm sure you've shared this elsewhere? That must be how that combo got into my brain... How did you squeeze the exhaust between the frame rails?
-
Dang, that's nice. Is that the Olds from the 40 sedan?

While this is true, Round2 has bypassed this issue before, with the 60 Starliner and 62 Catalina 2n1's. Man, those boxes were jam packed with parts, and they had some of the best modern boxart IMHO. So, it can be done if they really want to

AMT 29 Ford Old School Racer Build 10/19 Done
Mr. Metallic replied to Johnt671's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I've never had any success removing paint with brake fluid. Try to find some Castrol Super Clean degreaser. -
Yes, I know, but the OP still seemed confused, so i was just trying to clarify.

Pretty sure the Model T's came before the A's. Model T production ended with the 1927 model year. Model A production was from 28 through 31 model years.

AMT 29 Ford Old School Racer Build 10/19 Done
Mr. Metallic replied to Johnt671's topic in WIP: Model Cars
An alternative to cutting up the interior, but not using the mexican blanket idea would be to replicate the material using napkins. The ones from taco bell have a pleasing color that should work along with this build, That's what i used on this old T seat many years ago. I used thinned white glue. I applied it to the seat, then applied the napkin, let the glue soak in, and then gently applied more glue. Once dry you can paint and weather, or leave it in the natural color. -
That grille is looking good. I may be interested in one as well. Where can i get one when available?

SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
Mr. Metallic replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So, this is snap kit? I just assumed they would be issuing the full detail glue kit. Their glue kit(and Revell's issued at nearly the same time) were supposed to be really good kits. i own both, but have never got around to building them.
