Just received my end of a trade with chasracer. Kit showed up with a bit of shipping damage caused by the USPS. Charlie immediately offered to make it right but I assured him that I could fix it with a little glue and sanding. Charlie is a stand-up guy and I wouldn't hesitate to trade with him again! Thanks Charlie! Been wanting one of these for a while. Later-

What about a section similar to the Aftermarket directory section that already exists? Then under that directory heading it could be organized by category such as Engine parts, body parts, interior parts chassis parts etc? So you place a post under whatever sub-section. Could be a start of how to categorize it. Otherwise, I think we are correct that it would become very unwieldy very quickly. Later- -
Nice job David! Glad to hear that there are guys out there like you. I know a lot of us here would do the same. A great bunch of guys! Later-

Thanks gman for the info on the cap. I was told that it is included in the Chill Factor Pontiac kit. I do feel lucky to have the PE set. I can't wait to use it on a build. Later-

Looks like a great project so far. I like the wheels you have on it now. Later-

After many issues with paint, I finally got a couple of coats of clear on the body and I'll probably spray one more tomorrow morning. Then I'll let it dry for a while. I'm off work all next week for a class so it will probably sit until Monday the 28th. Ought to be good and dry by then. I also have the chassis up on wheels. I am looking for a particular style of distributor to put on this thing, and so far no leads. Here is the body and a pic of the distributor. If anyone has one like the picture or knows of an aftermarket one, chime in. Later-

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Modlbldr replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Not much of an update except to say that this build has been a pain. I finally got the paint as smooth as I want and went to shoot a coat of clear on the body. I accidentally grabbed the can of Testors White Lightning instead. So I shot a complete coat of pearl clear over the body and after 5 minutes I shot a final (yeah right) coat of the Go Mango to cover over the pearl. Into the dehydrator for 10 minutes and then shot my first coat of Wet Look Clear. Everything back to normal! This thing is going to have so much paint and clear on it that it will end up 1/24 scale instead of 1/25. Later- -
I think the one from the Chill Factor would work. I'd be up for buying a couple, if you mold them. Let me know. I'll keep looking till then to see if I can find one. Later-

Thanks Jon. I'll have to check those out. Hopefully there is something more accurate though. Later-

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Still plugging away on mine. Been working on getting the paint smooth but I have a spot on the passenger side rocker that decided to bubble up. I've sanded it down, washed it and resprayed the area twice and still it comes through the fresh paint. Today I sanded it down again, washed it and sprayed it for the third time. Then I brushed a coat of paint over it. Once it dries this time I'll lightly sand it without sanding through and call it good. Got the wheels and tires glued in place. I am looking for an aftermarket source for a distributor that looks like this so I can squeeze it in below the top pulley. Any leads? Later- -

Love their dash decals. I've got quite a few. They are inexpensive, good quality and add a lot of detail. Later-

So, what should we call the Post and who wants to get it started? I just left work where most of my stash is and I don't have anything here to post a question about. I think the Post should go something like this: Post a pic of the part/parts and the kit it is from, if you have it. Questions would be 1. What is it? What 1:1 part does it represent? 2 What kit or kits is it from? 3. Who made the 1:1 part and for what purpose? 4. What type or style of build would it be seen on in the 1:1 world? 5. Where can I find a "Whatzit" for my build? "What is available?" Anything else anyone can think of to include? I don't think that this should be done as a "Stump the Dummy" or trivia post. It should be a place where someone can either go to find out info on a part they have and how it would be used or a "What can I use to build this?/ Where can I find this part?" If you start a post for this idea, make sure you put a link here so we know where to go. Later- -

Gary, I wouldn't be too hasty. You only asked an hour ago and got one reply. I would be interested. I have come into a collection of parts and parts kits recently and will probably be getting much more over the course of the winter. I know that with a lot of it I will have no idea what it is, what kit it came from, but more importantly, what type of a build it would be historically and feasibily accurate on. I think, if I'm following your idea, I can post a picture of a part, or even a partial tree, and someone can tell me the answers to my three points above. If that is your idea, I like it and I, for one, am in. Later- -
