  1. I've been wanting to do some.lowriders for the same.reasons. The paint jobs are amazing and I want to improve my painting skills too. I tried one a year ago on a 65 Impala and it didn't turn out well for me but I am not deterred. I have a 41 Chevy pickup that is my ultimate goal. I'll be watching your process so lots of progress pictures, please. Later-
  2. Thanks Atin, I actually polished it with Meguiar's Scratch X this morning and the garbage came right off. I am.back to square one and will be painting the areas on the glass by hand tonight. I can't believe how easily it came off with the Scratch X after all the effort I put into it with soap and water and with the alcohol. Oh well. I won't be using the Press and Seal ever again. Later-
  3. I soaked the windshield in warm soapy water all day today and took a toothbrush to it a few times. It still looks the same and feels just as sticky. I think tomorrow I will try using Sratch X and a cloth on it. If that doesn't work I guess I will have to polish it with some 4000, 6000 and 12000. I didn't want to do that because I don't want to lose any of the frosted texture. I may not have a choice. Perhaps if I tape off the textured area with Tamiya tape that will protect it enough and with the textured area getting painted black it may hide it enough. I did manage to get the license plates and the grille emblem installed and the door/windshield seals painted. I also finished installing the rear wing. All that is left is painting the glass, installing the glass, interior and side mirrors and gluing in the chassis. If the cleanup of the glass goes well tomorrow I should have this completed by Saturday. Later-
  4. Thanks Shaun, I have a problem that came up yesterday. I used "Press and Seal" to mask off the windshield for painting the black. When I removed the mask, I ended up with the pattern of the "P&S" on the glass. I pulled off the rest of the mask to try and clean the coating and start over. I had some 70% isopropyl alcohol on hand and gave it a try but it hasn't removed any of it. Should I try 91% or something else? Any ideas? http:// Later-
  5. I think your doing amazing work on that Olds. Going to look great! Later-
  6. Got the headlights and taillights installed and the grille mesh in. It's coming together. http:// http:// Later-
  7. Got it sanded through 12000 grit and polished. Looks much better now. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// Later-
  8. Got the body wet sanded with 6000 grit this morning. Moving on to 8000. http:// http:// Later-
  9. That looks beautiful. Very nice job you did on it. One to definitely be proud of. The color looks like a very good match too. Later-
  10. Thanks. The color is brighter than I wanted but it will work. I have a few more of these Aoshima kits and I like the fact that that they go together pretty easily. I'll be building another pretty soon. Later-
  11. I finished the interior and got the final coat of clear on. Once it hardens real good I'll buff and polish. I still need to mask and paint the glass and do a bit of final assembly. Not my best work by far but it will do for me. http:// http:// http:// http:// Later-
  12. Interesting. I never knew anyone did the Camaro. I'll have to look it up. Later-
  13. I understand that reshaping and grinding. I built a 70 1/2 Camaro convertible years ago and the rear panel had a definite ramp up to it. I never thought of heating it and reshaping. Spent a long time sanding that panel to get it to look better. http:// I'll be watching and gaining ideas. Later-
  14. That looks good. I thought about doing this myself a while back but never got around to it. I may need to get ahold of Missing Link. I'll be watching. Later-
  15. Man, that Olds looks amazing! I love the red fender Wells too. Congratulations on finishing it! Later-
  16. Got to get back on my Mustang before I lose momentum. Got sidetracked with my R34 GT-R. But, on the plus side, it's close to done! Later-
  17. That 36 looks nice. Great work on it! The 36 is one of my favorite cars. Later-
  18. Thanks Dann. Today I wet sanded the body to get rid of some imperfections and in preparation for another coat of clear. I also finished up the chassis, I then primed all of the interior parts and sprayed the seats and door panels the accent color. http:// Tomorrow I will spray the final clear coat and mask off the accent color areas in order to spray the black interior. More pics tomorrow. Thanks for looking. Later-
  19. I started working on this one during down time on my 65 Custom Mustang. http:// I've made pretty good progress on it so I figured it was a good time to start a build page on it. Paint is a nail polish called "Buffy the Violet Slayer" over Rust-Oleum Dark Grey primer. http:// http:// http:// Wheels are painted Testors Bronze (a bit darker than I wanted). http:// Chassis parts are all painted. Just needs assembly finished. I'll be picking up some paint tonight for the interior. http:// Hope you enjoy it. Later-
  20. Yeah. I'm not excited about the vinyl parts either but I got tired of waiting for a reasonably priced Ghia from the other manufacturer and this one came available in a trade. Now I just need to find out what primer and paint works best on the vinyl parts. Later-
  21. The Ghia kit is sealed at the moment. When I get back to the shop I'll open it and take photos. Mark is correct in that it is a convertible with separate roof. I would imagine that it has a similar parts count and look since it is from the same maker and series. Later-
  22. Got all of these yesterday and today. The Flintstone delivery from eBay. http:// http:// Other than the flash (cleaned it up last night in about an hour) it is a clean casting. It has a small chip out of the passenger rear wheel lip. No big deal. The VW and Ghia I got in a trade with SCRWDRVR. Thanks, Buddy! http:// The Crown Vic I got on clearance yesterday at the LHS. I bought it for the display case and have the Vic up for trade in that section, if anyone is interested. http:// Later-
  23. Thanks Tim. That split bumper would be an interesting idea but, no. I'm trying to stick as close to the rendering as reasonably possible. I really like the design that Jairus came up with and want to see it in 3D. Been working a bit on firming up the cowl panel. In the pics above I just had it white glued in for locating and fit purposes. Today it becomes permanent. Also been plugging away at the hood. What a major bit of work it has been. More pics when I get something a bit more substantial as far as progress. Later-
