  1. Thanks Mike! I appreciate it. It was a lot of fun to do a quick build and got a chance to meet and chat with many other great model builders on Zoom. I recommend trying it sometime. Later-
  2. Thank you very much guys! I had a lot of fun doing this build-off and look forward to doing another in the future. Later-
  3. Great looking build! Excellent weathering and added details. Very realistic. I'm working on an abandoned drag pickup myself. I can use your build for a lot of reference. Later-
  4. Just finished the build of this kit for the 24 hr build-off. Built in 23 hours with 6 hours of sleep. Nice looking kit but typical old MPC- plenty of flash and poor parts placement on the instructions. Painted with Testors Fiery Orange for the body and Testors Purple-Licious for the frame. Had a blast being included in this build-off! Later-
  5. Update: 23 hrs (6 of that sleeping) and I am finished! The amazing thing to me is this build looks nicer than the 67 Mercury Comet drag that took me a month to build. Here it is. Paint is Testors Fiery Orange for the body and Testors Purple-Licious for the frame. Later-
  6. Good morning everyone! Back at it. I got the chrome trim done with the Sharpie and the grill glued in. I am currently gluing the glass in and then the rear bumper and I'm done. Later-
  7. Thanks Carl! Brought the body in from the dehydrator for a few pics. Then back to dry for a few hours. Later-
  8. Thanks Nigel! Thanks Misha! 14 1/2 hrs in. I got the decals all placed and a first coat of clear over them. Not much left now but to install the windows and inner tin and chrome the window trim (going to use silver Sharpie) I should be able to get some sleep after another coat of clear. Later-
  9. Got the body cleared and getting ready to start the decals. Paint is Testors Fiery Orange. Later-
  10. Anytime!! Now get back to it! The clock is ticking. Later-
  11. That's looking really good Sam. My GTO is coming along. Got everything done except waiting for the clear to dry so I can apply the extensive decals. Then another couple coats of clear. I'm having a blast with this. Later-
  12. Thanks. Typical old MPC. Generous flash and vague instruction call outs. But it is a fun build. Right now I have it up on wheels and have minimal touch up painting to do. Waiting on a light clear coat on the body to dry in the dehydrator so I can decal the body. Later-
  13. Update- 6 1/2 hrs in. Got pretty much everything painted with the exception of detail painting certain parts. My body still needs a coat to cover a bit of area I had to clean up. I have most of the chassis done and half the engine completed. Later-
  14. Taking part in the 24 hr build off with this kit. I'm 3 1/2 hrs in and got paint drying on most of my parts. Got the interior tin together and the tires and wheels together. More coming soon. Later-
  15. Picked up a few things today. 29 Ford and supplies from HL and the LHS. A complete unstarted 66 GT350H off of FB Marketplace during lunch for $10 ( only a two minute walk from work). And supplies from the Dollar Store. Not a bad haul today for $45. Later-
  16. Thanks Lee! I was trying to figure out what type of fish it reminded me of. Reading your comment I think you nailed it. Took me back to fishing on the Yakima river in West Richland, WA while growing up. Can't say I like the car much. I think I like the fish much better.....just watch out for the barbs! Later-
  17. Carl, Are these the ones you are looking for? Later-
  18. Marco's, Thank you for the kind words and the offer. I found one that should work for me though. Now I am making U bolts for it and looking for a tie rod and pieces. Later-
  19. No. Haven't started the search. I'm thinking a parts pack engine since it will be missing parts and they have molded internals. I have the Chevy, Ford and Pontiac. Not sure which would be most accurate. Thanks! Later-
  20. Getting a look at the stance. Later-
  21. I never even thought of that. Lol! So, got the interior together. Not putting a seat in this cause the owner used it in his Chevy II. Painted the wheel centers for a bit of contrast. Working on scratching the front suspension. Got to find an axle. Later-
  22. Thanks fellas for the interest. Unfortunately it is never a good idea to try posting something while trying to deal with a puppy. I wasn't able to pay attention to where I posted it. Although it may get more coverage in the light truck section, technically it is a drag vehicle. The bed was a one piece unit molded in yellow plastic but was identical to the multi-piece bed from the kit (which I didn't have at the time) Later-
  23. Sorry Mods- I should have posted this in the Drag WIP section. Later-
  24. So, I started this recently as a test subject for weathering videos I have been checking out. I think it is working out well. My plan is an abandoned old drag pickup. The owner "upgraded" at some point in the late 60's to a Chevy II. He pulled a few parts from this ride to recoup some cash. The front clip he sold to another racer who wrecked his ride after a hairy run down the strip, making contact with the guardrail. All I have left is the interior, front suspension, door handles, wheelie bars and chute. Right now the chassis and body parts are just sitting together. Later-
  25. Made some decent progress on the 41 Willys pickup today. Later-
