  1. Eidai did a lot of kits of Japanese race cars very similar to our Can Am cars of the 60s and 70s. The engines were usually non existant or not realistic.
  2. I have the Invader, the Outhouse and the Snap Draggin. Outhouse is built and sitting in my display case
  3. Interesting box art. The scene looks familiar to me. Perhaps Oregon coast/Northern California? I've traveled up and down the 101 during the 70s.
  4. When I was a kid, I never added those things to the models. Didn't like them.
  5. Bondo came out in 1955
  6. Now that's pretty cool. Never seen this one before.
  7. That's cool. You won't be far from me in Theresa. I see you will be close to Fond Du lac and I'm 17 miles south of FDL. Also Hartford has a great car museum. Lots of Kissel cars as they built them there. Pro tip when travelling...never eat at chain restaurants, eat local.
  8. Try adjusting your journey to include Milwaukee area, Model Empire in West Allis is amazing, then Hartford has John's Hobbies and Mayville has The Tinker Shoppe (not a lot of models but some) Plus Fond Du Lac has Focus right downtown on main street. Not open on Monday. There are antique shops in Waukesha that have models. Antiques And Uniques on 250 W. Main and Metropolitan Antiques 259 W. Main. Cal's Collectibles and Mantiques. He has vintage models and old slot cars. There is a slot track in Milwaukee called Bob's Raceway on 5822 W Forest Home Ave which is not far from Model Empire. stop by me in Theresa and I will show you my stash. Who knows, you might go home with some.
  9. Model looks great. I looked at pics of manual consoles and you had to options, one with just the boot and trim directly on the floor and the console version which was a bit different from the auto console. For those that wished, they could easily scratch build one or 3D print it. I don't think modifying the automatic console would be easy, but it could be done as well.
  10. Sweet Mother of Styrene, that sure was a glue bomb for real. There are a lot of similar chassis out there that are similar and the Jag rear end can be sourced from a lot of places like the Buttera rods from Revell. That's going to be a lot of cleaning on the body work. Maybe duplicate the shapes with sheet styrene?
  11. They normally do not shrink wrap kits in Japan or Europe. Just a little round tape at the sides like was done in the USA pre 1965.
  12. Nice find. All we get around here is baby BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH.
  13. No, especially when the engines in those kits are rather clunky and toy like in comparison...unless of course the builder changes the paint, creates a sub model of that body style (a big block version from the small block version or maybe a Canadian Beaumont from a Chevelle) and makes the engine actually look like an engine
  14. Something I brung up as a guy tries to bring in his T bucket hotrod made from all after market parts he built in his garage in 1/1 scale in a Model Behavior cartoon I did for Car Modeler Magazine years back.
  15. That's screwed up. The Lovely Miss Lori never enters the hobby room except to pull something off the printer.
  16. DDA Collectibles have announced some very cool 1:24 plastic model kits due in the 4th quarter of 2022. The first kits will be variants of the Holden HQ sedan, the Kingswood, a GTS and a Custom HQ. These will include body, interior parts, engine and trim. RRP of $69.95.
  17. Also I don't think the newer releases have the Swastika on the spare wheel decal. Defo original
  18. These are impressive and seem nice on the outside. I just can't get past the toy like engine bits. I'd have to 3D print the engine parts to get a real appearance, and at these prices I should not have to.
  19. Pretty much, although American, Paccar owns DAF, British Leland Trucks and I think Fodden.
  20. I think the OP was pretty clear in his post.
  21. These were the same arguments that horse breeders, carriage and wagon makers and leather tanners (buggy whips and tops), horse feed producers and horse boarding/black smiths used when automobiles came on the scene. Only hardware and dry goods stores sold fuel of any kind then.
  22. This was the very first model I built as a kid. I was maybe 10.
