  1. Coquette, French word. Love it. I think it means "flirt"
  2. I'm no Vette expert but I have not seen many with a stinger hood, even big block powered cars. They are out there but most are custom fitted. I researched tons of pics online and even big block cars seem to have the hood one normally associates with the 350 engine. I do prefer the "big block" hood better though. Maybe someone with a bit more Vette knowledge can clarify.
  3. Grew up in Wisconsin. I moved to California and I went over the pass during winter at Truckee. The CHP stops everyone and makes them install chains. If you don't own chains, there are people on the side of the highway who will rent you chains and when you reach bottom, another guy removes your chains and returns your deposit minus rental fee. I pull up and get the spiel about putting on chains. I says NOPE! I'm from Wisconsin and I grew up in this stuff. I still had to install chains...but I sure went a lot quicker then most others.
  4. For a better chassis, and tires, get the Atlantis Trans Am kit. That one also has an engine too. 71 or 72 I think. That was also an old Monogram kit but without side pipes.
  5. Currently working on this kit. For as expensive as this was to manufacture, it has a lot of booboos in the kit. Headlight doors are the wrong shape and have to be redone. The top most louver is supposed to be attached to the hood but in the kit, it is not. I separated the top louver and glued it to the hood.Looks much better and it seems to center better. I have the second reissue. Working on researching other issues in the kit. I also have a chihuahua that has a taste for styrene so I have to scratch make a rear engine cover. That should be simple enough.
  6. Very nicely done. The engine in the kit, although based on the 1914 MB aircraft engine, is basically a phantom because of the scale of it. 1/24th scale would have that engine towering over the car. But it is a fictitious car living in the mind of Tom Daniel. My take would be to do the real version of the show car, which came after the kit BTW, and put in a Pontiac OHC six in the engine bay. That's a project I have in my mind for the future.
  7. For real. My friend had one, a 400 cc one lunger. A real torquey bike. I had a 250 Montessa Cota set up for ISDT type events and we had in our group a bunch of Suzuki RM250s, a Honda 250, a CZ 250.
  8. Yes, Foxy Vette had Monza tail lamps, not Camaro.
  9. Reading this and I am working on the same kit. I think imma gonna just quietly place mine back in the box.
  10. Your glass turned out beautifully.
  11. Nice.
  12. Stuffing a six cylinder into a Bronco kit.
  13. There is an alternative ink from Flysea. Very similar to Molotow but has a more durable finish. I could handle it after a couple of hours without dulling.
  14. Yes, atleast doing the grille and tail lamps. The rest I can scratch build. I'm surprised that someone hasn't offered the bits as a conversion kit. Not many want it I suppose but I certainly do
  15. Some might not like the fact that the 68 GTO will be a curbside. It is easy enough to open up that hood and graft a Chevelle engine bay to it.
  16. Royal is a good mid range brush brand. You might have to talk to the art guy at the store to find what he recommends. I am just speaking with my own experience. Most of my model work is done with Tamiya sprays and bottle paints. They work well for me. Their Acrylics aren't bad. As far as a thinner for Testors, I've used a couple drops of enamel thinner, any brand would work. Remember that Testor's yellow is sort of transparent and the underlying color will show through. I've never tried a brush on primer. I always use a spray. I like Plasti-cote or Duplicolor. I had some success with NAPA's primer. Tamiya has very good spray primers in different colors.
  17. Also use a very high quality brush. Cheaper brushes will leave streaks. I would not use the Testor enamel paint from those little bottles. It's rather thick and will not flow right. An enamal retarder 'might' work.
  18. All of these stands are pretty cool. The two first stands, although complex, resemble stands and displays at car shows like World Of Wheels.
  19. Mine are kept in a case much like seen above by you guys. I was wondering too how you display at shows? I see a lot of childish things at shows like a model placed on top of a platform filled with marbles or a car setting on top of dice. I prefer to see them displayed on a small bit of street not much larger than the model itself much like aircraft guys display a plane on a patch of runway. Cars don't sit on top of marbles or dice in the real world. Mirrors are OK to display the under carriage.
  20. Study the chrome reverse wheels...they are not color photos. They were cut and pasted the old fashioned way because the chrome reverse matched the kit wheels.
  21. Got mine yesterday. Awesome issue.
  22. I will try and post one.
