First Mustang ever sold..
lordairgtar replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are you sure about that. Depends on the engine choice. 260V8s had blue valve covers and air cleaner. The only thing I can see wrong with their engine is they are using a blue distributor cap when that should be black. From Mustang Monthly.....The 101-horse 170ci six had a bright red valve cover and air cleaner. The optional base V-8, the 260-2V with 164 hp, had a Light Ford Blue air cleaner and valve covers. The 210hp 289-4V was a low-compression small-block with a gold air cleaner and valve covers. Like the 170ci six and the 260ci V-8, the 289-4V had a black block, oil pan, timing cover, water pump, and cylinder heads. The 289 High Performance with 271 hp sported a black block, oil pan, timing cover, water pump, and cylinder heads, with the chrome dress-up kit that included valve covers and an open-element air cleaner. The base V-8 during the Mustang's first five months was the 260-2V with Light Blue valve c One important issue to consider with air-cleaner color is the intake snorkel. Instead of being blue or gold, the snorkel is gloss black for 1965. Read more: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/mump_0308_select_correct_vintage_mustang_engine_paint/viewall.html#ixzz2kuiYVNNp -
i take a build or two to the NNL Milwaukee and that is pretty much it, unless a car show has a mode contest too. I chair a model show for my own car club's annual Corn Roast on Labor Day Weekend. If I take a model to that, it's not eligible for voting. Would not look good if the Chairman took a trophy home, now would it. My stuff generally isn't up to the highly detailed standards of most. I just like to get opinions from others at the NNL, as I try and do something unusual or different or off the wall. This year I am thinking of a FUSO truck and auto hauler with a load of JDM vintage cars. A fictional collector car transport company based in Japan as it were.

I like the bit of 6 banger tail pipe just hanging there. Then I really liked the exhaust dumps out the bottom for the V10

I knew the music bigots would pop out on this thread. Hillbilly hyuck? Really? I think a lot of listen to country because our beloved rock and roll disappeared and country still appreciates the Guitar. My stepdaughter went from being a pop music fan to being a country listener because the pop tarts as a group do not possess talent and depend on studio musicians and auto tune to make them sound good. I like everything from Spike Jones to Tupac. Give me some good rockabilly or even some old soul music where the singers actually could sing. Ever her Britney sing without auto tune enhancing her voice? You can't even go to one of her concerts and expect live singing...she lip syncs. I've heard karaoke singers who could do her songs better than she can. My provenance for this is that I sang back up vocals for a coupe of bands, earned a scholarship fro the Layton scholl of the Arts for music and have been in choirs. Though I don't do much singing anymore, I have been invited for a karaoke reunion show. Oh, and give a listen to Clairy Browne and the Bangin' Rackettes (shameless plug) LBT is an awesome group and will go far in music. God! Do I ramble or what? LOL

Raymond Loewy - Father of Industrial Design
lordairgtar replied to Casey's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Loewy was one of the most influencial designers of the day. Another one who had far reaching designs was Brook Stevens. Just an awesome man. Everything from common household appliances like toasters and vacuums to high speed trains like the Hiawatha trains of the Milwaukee Road...everything from the train itself to the passenger cars and observation car and it's iconic logo. Also the Miller high Life label and several Studebaker based racers and the Excalibur car. Did the designs for Willys do Brasil too. -

A friend bought a belt at the local sally and wore it for 5 years. One day he was looking at it and telling how he got a cool belt for 50 cents. He discovered it was a money belt with hidden access and discovered $300 inside. He'd been walking around with $300 around his middle all that time. -

Promotional Models Auction

Those 58s had interiors, so your hypothesis is wrong. I'm going to go with more of an environmental reaction, heat, cold, cleaning with harsh product. -
Interesting that the kit is molded in black, a color the GT was never offered in. As far as I know, the only black GT I've ever seen was one I owned in the early 70s, and I had it sprayed from it's original light yellow.

1969 Chevelle 396 SS
lordairgtar replied to vwdave92's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, don't display the model in a show car outside...bad juju. On the body, as the 69 is just a modification of their 68 Chevelle, the side chrome trim and the side marker lights are wrong for a 69, although the latest version I think had some correction done on the side lights. Still have to examine pics of a real car to insure that. Not too sure about the interior either. Rear tail lamps are not even right. They are both mis shapen and it is difficult to get them to fit right. I would order the promo reproduction lamps from Modelhaus and fill in the holes on the body and recarve the holes to fit the promo lamps. The photoetch kits from model garage will get you the right side markers, other name plates and a grille surround to make a 69 Beaumont from Canada. You just have to sand off the molded in side lamps and place the photoetch piece in the right place. -

Once and awhile I find kits in picker type stores for decent money...read cheap. Just located a secret stash of Tamiya models for 10 to 15 bucks a kit. It's in a back room of the store so not many people explore back there. Hehehehehehehehehehehe
