  1. So, anyone who doesn't want the kit wheels is certainly free to send them my way! ?
  2. The TV car is an automatic, and so they may have decided to just keep the manual transmission and add the automatic shifter rather than molding a new transmission. They probably could have left in the manual shifter as well. And yes, the 4-speed manual was available on all full size cars with the V8, including the 4-doors.
  3. Yup, not every kit will have multiple build options or the parts that you may want, hence the ever growing aftermarket. The problem seems to go both ways, the factory stock guys will complain about one aspect, and the show-car replica guys will complain about another. Dale can complain that the seat isn't correct for a non-TV car, another can complain that the transmission is a manual and the show car is an automatic. I'm complaining that they decided to go with the older bias-ply style tires rather than the correct modern radial tires on the TV car (Revell did the same with the 80's Cutlass kits.) The model companies can't win, and have to do the best they can to appeal to the largest amount of buyers.
  4. What do you mean by this? Do you mean people who are on thin ice threatening to go back and edit their past posts to be inflammatory?
  5. Looks good! Do you have a picture of the tires?
  6. It was a sort of 4th wall reference to the actor who played their father, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, being on the Walking Dead.
  7. I see that they did do that, however I'm guessing the 1:1 vehicle was an early 80's Coupe DeVille with the 4.1 and the Brougham parts added rather than a shortened Brougham.
  8. The kit engine could resemble the HT 4100 V8, from the pics I can find it doesn't look too far off of the Chevy small block. Apparently though, whatever vehicle they used to measure had the front and rear from a 1990-1992 Fleetwood Brougham. Because of this, there isn't a way to make a stock Coupe DeVille out of the box (I do actually like the aero style of the Brougham, so I don't mind it at all!)
  9. I believe it's to do with the requirement of being able to see the rear turn signal from the side of the vehicle, which is not possible with the US taillights, hence the wrap-around amber portion. Chevy used the wrap around red in the US since it doubled as the rear-side marker light. However, I'm not sure if this is also why the amber takes up two "sections" of the taillight assembly. It seems like they could have just used the corner "section" for the turn signal, and used the other two non-reverse portions for the brake and fog lights (or use one of the reverse lights as the fog light like they do on other vehicles).
  10. It's surprising looking at the instructions for the AMT kit, in that the kit has a decently detailed engine compartment with separate underhood parts, as well as a multi-piece bed and well-proportioned body, and yet has a poor 3-piece(!) interior and promo-style chassis. I would love to see a better detailed group of trucks for this era similar to the F100 kits. 2WD Custom 1/2 ton Stepside Bed 292 I6 2WD Cheyenne 3/4 ton Long Bed 396/400 V8 4WD Custom Deluxe 1/2 ton Short Bed 327/350 V8 4WD Custom Deluxe 3/4 ton Long Bed 327/350 V8 This way there would be options for mixing and matching, and along with different years (to represent the different grilles) for the 4 would allow for nearly all options to be covered. Wishful thinking for now of course.
  11. I realized it was released previous since this thread is originally from 2017! ? It is going to be re-released again this year however, and I wasn't sure which month.
  12. I'm not seeing it on the Revell site at all, it must not be officially released yet.
  13. Any word on the release date for this kit?
  14. Disagree, I think the AMT kit is pretty mediocre, and it sucks having to essentially replace a good chunk of the kit in order to have a decent build. The axles are poorly shaped, and everything just feels old. I think Moebius could provide much better kits and, again, do this era of trucks justice.
  15. Measure the inside of the tire and look at places such as Fireball Modelworks and Scenes Unlimited for wheels.
  16. At 1/25 scale, that would be a little less than 3/16" width difference. I would think if they split the difference, it would be negligible enough to work for the F100/150 and F250. I would hope that this would be something that shouldn't bother most people since it's not as important as say, the body dimensions, but I know better.
  17. I guess going with the title of the thread, it would be great to see modern kits of the ‘73-‘79 trucks. They are popular, and the AMT kits don’t do them justice (camper special LWB? Really?)
  18. I would love to see them have a go at the ‘67-‘72 Chevy/GMC trucks, since neither AMT nor Revell have come out with some more advanced kits than AMT’s last attempt.
  19. Your best bet would be to get the 4.3 V6 from the AMT S10, Blazer, or recently released Sonoma and find a parts box intake that looks close enough.
  20. Does this forum software allow for thread tags that appear next to the thread title?
  21. Good to hear, the threads should get a little more traffic that way then! ?
  22. Will there be a Big Boyz subforum in the under glass section as well?
  23. One of the problems is they not only have the 4WD wheels on a 2WD kit, but they are also a bit big since they seem to have used a set of 16/17" tires they already made for other kits. I'm hoping if it ever gets released again, they at least include the AWD/4WD parts from the Syclone kit to allow you to make a 4WD S10 easier. I'm pretty sure at least a couple of the parts are already included (I seem to recall the front differential/driveshaft), so they would just need the transfer case, rear driveshaft, torsion bars, and front halfshafts. It would probably be too much to ask for them to have a set of 15" rally wheels and tires included as well.
  24. The Rubicons actually had 16" wheels, but the difference in height at 1/25 scale is only .04". It is possible Revell undersized them, considering how undersized the wheels look in the Bronco kit and that was a new tool as well.
  25. You can easily just fill in the turn signals to get the '83-up plain bumper.
