  1. Was it in California? Looks like back then their emissions requirements only allowed a manual on the V6 and auto only on the v8s for the 1500s. Otherwise, you could get a manual on every size of engine they offered.
  2. Ditto. I'm guessing that the long bed kit was modified into the shortbed and stepside kits since it doesn't make any more appearances after 1989, though it wouldn't be tough to combine the USA-1 and shortbed kits if you wanted to make a stock long bed.
  3. See I wondered that too, but looking at Scalemates, the monster truck came out in the late 80s and the shortbox and stepside versions after that.
  4. They sure are trying to get their money's worth with these two kits! It bums me out that they keep bringing out the monster truck version of the C1500, but somehow can't bring out the stock trucks.
  5. Didn't they just bring out the 1977 Ford Van and Chevy Monster truck (as the Cruising Van/Coca-Cola Van and Coca-Cola truck, respectively) recently?
  6. Amazing! You've grown 20 feet tall and picked up a real truck! ?
  7. In scale, I would think you could make it look pretty close to the Iron Duke. You could also use the S10 kit transmission since they used the same automatic for the I4 and V6 engines.
  8. Nope, both the Monogram and Revell S10 kits are 1:25 (same kits actually).
  9. I don't think they are the same car unless someone decided to paint their pewter car green. Were those full covers or did they just cover the center like the plain hub caps did?
  10. Very nice! I was hoping Meng would make a kit like this, but it seems like they've given up on their civilian vehicles already. Looks like the price is around $150 US.
  11. We have a topic here about it. ?
  12. Looking on Scalemates, there has not been one newly tooled in a very long time, so it will be a welcome kit. Edit: in terms of Mustangs, I think a 6th Gen would have been the better option to focus on, but that's just my opinion.
  13. Beat me to posting by a minute! ? I'm interested in this depending on the amount of detail they put in.
  14. I like it so far, it’s nice to see something different done with this kit!
  15. I'm thinking not the Fire Fighter kit, since I did find pics of a built original LRE kit, and it appeared to have the correct year door panels (not correct for the truck though, they appeared to be the Custom panels while the LRE was built with the Adventurer trim). Edit: On the Pumpin' Iron box, you can see the interior panel and it appears to also be the late 70's Custom door panel, so I'm still thinking either the ThunderStruck or Monster Truck kit is when they changed it up. Edit 2: From some other research, the taillights should be the rectangular "Jeep/Trailer" style, rather than the earlier round style found in the kit. It looks like the round lights were used until 1977, and in 1978 they switched to the rectangular lights. Since the Warlock kit was released in 1977, it makes sense to have the round lights in that kit. Weird they didn't bother to update them for the later kits.
  16. One interesting thing I noticed when I started building my 2003 reissue LRE kit is it has the 1981+ door panels (my 1994 issue does as well). Based on the history on page one, I'm guessing they maybe updated the interior for the Thunderstruck kit, and then didn't back-date it for the LRE reissues? Anyone have an original issue LRE kit that they can get a picture of the door panels?
  17. The only downside with the Fine Detail is it is brittle, so you have to be careful if you have to cut or shape it at all. The Accura plastic looks like you can get the same detail, with better rigidity, however it does cost a bit more.
  18. Yeah with Shapeways you want to try to order several things in order to maximize the parts/shipping ratio.
  19. Glad to see it back again, I'm hoping that it's the 3n1 still.
  20. Good to know, I’ve never worked with photo etched parts so I guess I’m not in tune with their fine intricacies! ?
  21. It doesn't look unusable from the picture, can you place it between two books to flatten it out somewhat?
  22. My go to is Rustoleum Wheel Clear coat, it has a great gloss, sprays easily, and is an acrylic so it goes over both enamels and lacquers.
  23. I'm glad I was able to get the '87-'88 Olds Cutlass front end before he closed down shop. As for the dash and grille, they can also be found in the AMT Snap/promo Chevy Tahoe kits.
