  1. I like it so far, it’s nice to see something different done with this kit!
  2. I'm thinking not the Fire Fighter kit, since I did find pics of a built original LRE kit, and it appeared to have the correct year door panels (not correct for the truck though, they appeared to be the Custom panels while the LRE was built with the Adventurer trim). Edit: On the Pumpin' Iron box, you can see the interior panel and it appears to also be the late 70's Custom door panel, so I'm still thinking either the ThunderStruck or Monster Truck kit is when they changed it up. Edit 2: From some other research, the taillights should be the rectangular "Jeep/Trailer" style, rather than the earlier round style found in the kit. It looks like the round lights were used until 1977, and in 1978 they switched to the rectangular lights. Since the Warlock kit was released in 1977, it makes sense to have the round lights in that kit. Weird they didn't bother to update them for the later kits.
  3. One interesting thing I noticed when I started building my 2003 reissue LRE kit is it has the 1981+ door panels (my 1994 issue does as well). Based on the history on page one, I'm guessing they maybe updated the interior for the Thunderstruck kit, and then didn't back-date it for the LRE reissues? Anyone have an original issue LRE kit that they can get a picture of the door panels?
  4. The only downside with the Fine Detail is it is brittle, so you have to be careful if you have to cut or shape it at all. The Accura plastic looks like you can get the same detail, with better rigidity, however it does cost a bit more.
  5. Yeah with Shapeways you want to try to order several things in order to maximize the parts/shipping ratio.
  6. Glad to see it back again, I'm hoping that it's the 3n1 still.
  7. Good to know, I’ve never worked with photo etched parts so I guess I’m not in tune with their fine intricacies! ?
  8. It doesn't look unusable from the picture, can you place it between two books to flatten it out somewhat?
  9. My go to is Rustoleum Wheel Clear coat, it has a great gloss, sprays easily, and is an acrylic so it goes over both enamels and lacquers.
  10. I'm glad I was able to get the '87-'88 Olds Cutlass front end before he closed down shop. As for the dash and grille, they can also be found in the AMT Snap/promo Chevy Tahoe kits.
  11. Looks good, always nice to see a clean build! The pictures are a tad blurry though, one trick is to take the picture from further away and just crop the picture down to what you want to show. ?
  12. I find that the paint can be hit or miss in the coverage department depending on color, but I do find the 2X gray primer to cover very well and gives me minimal issues as well as the 2X aluminum for my silver parts (and as a base for metallics/candy coats).
  13. Oh no, now what will all the car building shows look forward to building a car last minute for?!
  14. Hard to say, I have not come across any. I’m not sure if anyone has taken on making detail parts for these old Otaki/Doyusha kits. I’ve just been scratchbuilding and adapting other 1/12 scale parts to mine.
  15. You know, I would not be opposed to an actual C1500 Coca Cola kit if it actually meant this kit came out again! ( And no the monster truck kit doesn’t count) Your build looks nice and clean!
  16. Don’t forget that paper copies aren’t impervious to ceasing to exist either. Fire, flood, storms, untrained dog, vengeful ex-wife, etc. Like with anything, you have to enjoy them while you can and remember that nothing really will be around forever.
  17. Nah the wheels do look like the ones on the Boyd version, and I'm guessing both sets are 17" since that was really the biggest size you would find in the early 90's.
  18. I believe the kit is also 1/24 scale vs the 1/25 scale of the AMT/MPC kit, so parts swapping won't quite work out.
  19. Just an FYI, his site is down for the foreseeable future, it appears he is making a new site but it doesn't say when it should be back up again. Of course I find this out when I want to order some parts! ?
  20. It's too bad AutomotiveTouchup doesn't get into the smaller cans since that would open up factory colors immensely while not forcing you to use up a large can if you don't want to. I'm sure it's not financially feasible for them which is why they don't.
  21. I'm looking at my ebay purchase history now on my PC and can see who each item was sold by, and unless you ordered more than one kit from different vendors, you should be able to see the vendor.
  22. You should be able to find it in your order history on the site or in the app.
  23. There are definitely quite a few cases of obvious substitutions for crashing vehicles and stunts in the older tv shows. I know at least a few times in the A-Team they used Ford and GM vans with just a paint job and red wheels in quick cuts for jumps and such. A more modern example would be in the movie C.H.I.P.S. where a Chevy Malibu was used as a stand in for a Chevy SS when the vehicle gets torched.
