Better late than never Dave B

This is my take on Fangio's 1953 Carrera Panamerica winning Lancia D24. When I saw the 3D file for sale I just had to have it, love this car. Luckily I have my old mate Phil to print it for me and also provide me with the decals. So after a little work on the old filament printed body it's now finished. Wheels are KA Models photo etched wires and headlights, taillights, etc are from my plastic/resin stash. Finished in a home mixed auto acrylic red and clear coated it can now join my other 50's sports racing cars. Now onto the'53 Maserati A6GCS. Tks for looking Dave B

Looks great Rich, you sure do knock them out and they would all look good in my display case. Lucky for me I only build 3-4 a year, I'm out of display space!! Dave B

No interior, no chassis and still a way to go with the body Dave B

Ok, I've laid the 'fault' finding coat of white on but I'm now in a quandary. I thought Fangio's Carrera panamerica D24 was maroon but the only period colour photo I could find shows it red. I really wanted it maroon, does anyone out there have any information please. Dave B

Great build Gary. Why is it that when the build is finished you always notice something not quite right!! At least it's not only me it happens too. Dave B

Looking good Gary, it's a shame that when I built my slot car body Spyder #15 (Monogram) years ago I didn't bother checking the width!! Now I'll forever know it's too wide. Dave B PS I was lazy back then and didn't replace the head light covers either.

Well, actually it is/was but more on that soon. Firstly I'd like to thank my old mate Phil for the body, wheels and decals (without which I obviously could not have built it) and Tom for the detail photo's of the actual car. I hope I have done it justice guys. Now, chassis # B/0222 was entered by Iso Grifo Prototipi Bizzarrini in the 1965 Le Mans where it came a surprise 1st in class (P-5000+) and ninth overall. After a few more races during '65 it was returned to Giotto Bizzarrini, who had parted ways with Renzo Rivolta. It was renumbered with chassis # IA/0222 and sold as a Bizzarrini. If this is incorrect Tom feel free to correct me!! Now having started with the bare essentials I went through my stash to find all the necessary components. Having done that it was finished in red auto acrylic and clear coated. Tks for looking Dave B

Ok, I'm a happy little vegemite, I've just finished what I always thought would be the hardest part of this build. Still lots to do but it's downhill from here. Thanks for your encouragement guys. Dave B

Just been trial fitting the interior, rear shelf and newly vacformed rear window. All looks good so I'll be epoxying the rear shelf in and working on the brake ducting and fuel pipe. Tks for your comments. Dave B

Michael, yes a lot of work but I enjoy it. Dave, my mate also has a resin printer and we are looking at buying another higher resolution one. The resin does give you better details etc but he has yet to master it and I enjoy working in filament, it's a lot like styrene and my MEK works as a glue on it. Dave B

Still working on the rear guard of the Iso so I'm doing a bit more on the D24. I decided I would redo the scoop on the drivers side guard so I have sanded the existing one off and made a buck out of icecream sticks, shaped it and vacformed it. Two different sizes so tonight I'll have a play. Tks for looking Dave B

Hi Noel, the wires are made in Korea by KA Models. They are beautiful, 5 layers of photo etch with machined aluminium hub and polished rim. I bought mine from BNA Model World in Aus. Dave B

My mate showed me a 3D file site that was having a sale. Looking through it I found one of my favourite 50's sports cars, the Lancia D24. I did the obvious thing and asked him to buy the file for me and print me one. Here it is with the photo etched wires I have been sitting on waiting for an appropriate model, they're a tad too wide but the care factor is low!! Anyway I shall be working on this while finishing the 'not an Iso A3/C' (actually it is) which is convenient as, while painting the red on the Iso I noticed a split in the filament in the rear guard so it will need a little work.
