  1. I've never seen this kit built before- it actually looks pretty decent aside from the rear wheels being a bit far back in the openings.
  2. The one from the van is a Windsor, but swapping heads and/or valve covers could disguise it enough to work as a Cleveland or Modified. The block is 'nondescript' enough to work. I'd have to check, but possibly the same could be said for the F350 engine. The main reason I'm leaning toward the Phantom van engine is because it's one of the few Ford small blocks from this era you can find in a kit which isn't over or underscale for what it represents. The Monogram NASCAR heads are a good idea- I have some of those as well as some from an AMT/Ertl NASCAR T-Bird. Might have to check and see how those would look on the block...
  3. Nice! Love how you took the basic overall 'feel' of the 1:1, and then went your own way with it.
  4. Nice! Been wanting to give a Honcho-to-M 715 conversion a go for a while myself.
  5. My pleasure- quite a few iffy-fitting parts on this Effie! Might try hanging it off the driveshafts on the next one I build and see how that goes.
  6. To expand on what Tom said above- Getting the transfer case lined up with the front diff is iffy- it wasn't just you, Tom! I've built a couple of these and that area is always iffy at best. I like to install the transfer case after the engine is installed in the chassis. That helps aligning everything to a degree. Also, if I recall, the kit includes the 2-wheel drive front suspension, but it is not shown in the instructions. Might be better off using that instead anyway - as was mentioned, the F-350 4x4s of this body style did not have coil springs up front, which the kit has. Neither of the front suspensions is really much of a knockout anyway, but on par with a kit of this vintage detail-wise, and more than passable. You'd need to modify the '53 bed to be 100% correct for a late '70's truck- there were a few differences in the upper bedsides and tailgate, but the '53 piece absolutely is the best thing to start with if a Flareside Dentside is your thing. Also note that what is shown on the instructions as the rear bumper could also be used as the front bumper if you want to backdate this kit- that's the same front bumper used on Ford light trucks from 1957 well into the '70's. I don't know how well it will fit this chassis, but I plan on fixing the engine issue by swapping in the 351 from the AMT Phantom Ford van kit.
  7. Love that movie, but somehow I only remember the Chicken Pit car. I want to build that one one day, along with Ricky Bobby's Wonderbread Car. Anyway, great job on this!
  8. Well, in that particular case "We're not there yet, folks." I have a few 3D printed parts in my possession (and a few more resin cast pieces mastered from printed parts), and all of them have pretty rough surface textures. Maybe that'll change in the future, but for now you're just trading mold lines, flash, sink marks, and the like for an overall rough surface.
  9. Love it! Even if it's a rare kit I'd love to have one. I can see mine weathered a bit, and hauling several cases of vodka in the bed.
  10. It is- whether it is an aftermarket-produced unit or something some guy in a shed threw together isn't clear, though.
  11. Stumbled across this little gem this morning- looks like the fate to one of the C-Series kits in my stash has been sealed...
  12. Well... you could have just done something really crazy and NOT clicked on the thread, like I do whenever I see another "This guy wants a ridiculous price for a kit on eBay" thread. Might save you a little boredom if you just stop reading threads about subjects you aren't interested in.
  13. Really cool! Your nice, clean execution on this one pretty much renders all this kit's little hiccups inaudible.
  14. That's looking really nice!
  15. Yep, they redid the grille, some of the body cladding, and some of the interior widgets for the '96 model year, and of course the 5.9 Limited had a few of its own unique parts. The bumper is looking good so far!
  16. I would send an e-mail to Ron at RMR- he already casts the Colts mentioned and maybe he'd like to add your '76 to his lineup.
  17. Lovely looking model! You could just buy two of 'em... build one, then save the box from the other. Then you'd have the box AND a nice C-series left over to fit out with whatever body you want back there...
  18. Didn't know the rear wheel openings were a bit 'off' as well- wonder if they did that as a compromise for the upcoming drag racing version? Anyway, I've got to hand it to you for the effort you've spent on this one. It'll be a marked improvement over what comes in the box, hands down. Me? I'm taking the easy route and using the kit as a donor for that MAD '79 Four-Eye notch.
  19. Unfortunately, yes. I was just at Dean's Hobby Stop today and Dean was wondering where he's been as well.
  20. In before somebody remarks "They got the shape of that back window all wrong."
  21. Nice! Can't wait to see how you handle the modifications to the grille and front bumper cover. I have one of these kits I'd like to convert to a '97.
  22. Trust me... this movie isn't worth seeing. Just look for the cars when they show up on imcdb.org.
  23. Yeah- I'm planning on addressing that. I think it should be rounded, like the stock pickup cab doors were.
