  1. I'm sure a 1:1 will be sold at Barrett-Jackson next year. Looks great.
  2. I don't think the Sizemores are interested in selling. Of course, this is a great way to pare down the inventory for a new buyer. I got most of the decals I'd been putting off. Just didn't get a couple.
  3. The saddest irony is the Revell box with Gary Ormsby being shown as the 1991. Champion. The box was on the store shelfs when he passed away just prior to the US Nationanals in 1991. His passing was one of the things that caused me to loose interest in what has become the John Force show.
  4. Someone's eyes are a lot better than mine. Impressive work.
  5. I keep on hoping that Top End is picked up by someone else. I also keep kicking myself for not spending a couple of hundred dollars with them.
  6. Add me to the watching list. Mike
  7. Snow's car was red. A team car, driven by Jake Johnson was blue.
  8. The Revell decals aren't as accurate as the Slixx decals. I've seen more than one body color for this car. It could be that during the season, the original was damaged and a new paint job was used with a different base coat.
  9. Renault Dalphines.....I think by Hubley. The Cobra is a kit off a slot car. Maybe Strombecker.
  10. I see a Sox and Martin Challenger in my future.....
  11. Your datling wife Bobbi may be gone physically but may she live on in your heart and the spirits of your children. I pray in the comning days you find peace and comfort in the love you share.
  12. I spoke with Oakey about this about five years ago. I can only add what he told me and can remember from that conversation. What he was told he was buying and what he recieved were two different things. Not only was listed tooling not received (it was shipped from Detroit to Northern Kentucky) but a lot of it was either incomplete or damaged. For example, he did do test shots of the Mustang funny car. What I bought from him was quite nice with much less flash than what had been sold the last few years under either the Jo-Han or the Seville label. Only problem is the molds for the chrome couldn't be located. A lot of the tooling was for items of little interest. For example there were several smaller scale air planes with full molds and little commercial value. I think the amount of molds Oakey got was massive. Too many to reasonably inventory as a one man operation. The same for parts and decals. The parts and decals were more or less thrown into large boxes and shipped. Absolutely no organization. One thing to be remembered is that Jo-han often reused their molds for other things. They made promos as a main part of their business. Kits were much less their concern. Sadly a lot of their three and four year old molds were worth more at the time as scrap than any anticipated future use.
  13. It is on my oh please I want one list. If you got one to trade, I'm open for a trade list. Mike
  14. Absolutely love this concept and keep on thinking this is the next fronteir in street rod design. Having said that, anyone attempted this? If so, photos of works in progress would be appreciated. Failing that, Mr. J, how about showing us where the cuts would be? Thanks, Mike
  15. I like the t-shirt! There's a magazine I looked forward to as a kid.
  16. A tip of the hat....that's a great job with a lot of scratch building.
  17. Trully a great build in progress. Can you tell me about where you got the brass pieces? This one is going to be good. Mike
  18. I'm debating getting into HO. No one near me seems to race which is a limiting factor. The neaest other track to mine (if I actually built it) would currently be about an hour or and hour and a half away. With my limited time (son active in Boy Scouts, I'm an assistaint Scoutmaster and a daughter in competitive gymnastics) and I'd like to actually build models) that too much communting for a competition. I'm aware of active clubs three or so hours away but just can't commit the time and the money to it. Maybe when I retire or the kids are in college.
  19. I'm not sure about the box wrench comment. Can you explain? Thanks, Mike
  20. Every business has the right to refuse service. The only restrictions are (and this varies by state) you can not refuse service based upon race, sex, religion, sexual preference and ethnic orgin. You may think age, but send your 13 year old to buy cigarettes or booze and they should be refused. I'd love to buy Coca-cola fountain mix but Coke only sells it to their licensed dealers. If I were a caster, would I refuse to sell to you directly, yes. Would I buy someone else's product and modify it (don't flame me yet) and reproduce it. Yes. For the most part resin casters do that all the time. How many plastic kits have you seen "modified and corrected" and then cast and sold. You may not like it, but at the core essence of the casting process, it is a fundamental part of the process. How many parts that are cast are straight or modified kit parts? Compare that to the number that are 100% scratch built.
  21. I stumbled onto this.....really glad I did. The tires are inspiring. I've wanted to do something (show cartoon motion) like this and have always stopped on the tires.....Now I have a glue how to do them.... I hope you throw some mud on this one. I'll be watching.
  22. If you were near me, I'd hit you with a snowball.
  23. I have an Aluma Coupe that I started on along the same lines. Did a lot of mods but never could work out a front end treatment I like. Yours works. I'll have to try it. By the way, what did you do for a chasis? Great JOB! Mike
  24. Tremendous save of a damaged slot car. Wish it was on my shelf!
