This is an excellent kit, and as we know, for improved detail, the chassis can be used on other GM mid sized cars from this era. I gave this one a monotone finish, starting with House of Kolor Orion Silver as a basecoat. I then masked off the upper portion of the car and sprayed it House of Kolor Ultra Orange. Finally I masked the body side stripe and the hood scoop and sprayed those two areas with House of Kolor Euro Red, with a clear coat by House of Kolor also. Wheels, tires and disk brakes are Pegasus. Thanks for looking.
Nice build, I have the same kit built but I never did get the bike finished. I was so disappointed when they stopped issuing these Pro Shop kits. The pre-paints are a real time saver.
I really like this, the two tone color combo really works. Excellent build. I've built this kit and the doors have always been the weak point. You did a great job on the doors.
Black Gold closed up several years ago. As you mentioned, they may have been purchased by another company but I have no personal knowledge of that. I was disappointed when they shut down since I purchased all of my House of Kolor airbrush paints from them. As far as I know, no one is selling the aerosol cans or the smaller quantity (1 ounce bottles) air brush paints. If you do find them, make sure to post the information here. I have a decent stock remaining but that won't last forever.
I've used them a number of years ago. I have not used any since the company changed hands. As I recall, they airbrushed very nicely, dried much faster than Testors enamels, and didn't need a clear coat. I polished with Novus #2. I'm sure if Mr. Guest tells you his clear won't yellow, he's correct. I've always been a fan of enamels and at some point in the future I'll try them again.
