  1. Thanks. That makes sense, that it's based off of a diecast. It's curbside, no engine. Has a nice undercarriage though. Forgot to get a pic of that. Actually comes with real coil springs to install, but hard to see with a black suspension and springs. They needed to be bigger in diameter, but I used them cause this was a quick build. I still need to paint the blue lights on the front skid plate and install some after market ones on the windshield frame. But, it's pretty much done.
  2. I still need to put the two off road lights on the windshield frame. Forgot about those.
  3. I have not built up a model in a long time. So I saw a friends Jeep and decided to do Crofts Jeep Rubicon from the "Cradle of Life". Nice fitting kit and really easy to build. Hope you like the pics.
  4. I had to buy two different sets sold on e bay to build mine with. Both sets just did not have all the sponsor decals on them or had ones that I could not use for the build. I think these are the two sets I bought jsut by doing a quick search. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Holly-Farms-DECAL-1-24-scale-fits-AFX-Tyco-Lifelike-Autoworld/264734954087?hash=item3da36ed267:g:gdoAAOSwoLpai2AX https://www.ebay.com/itm/Winscals-3-Holly-Farms-Poultry-1963-Junior-Johnson-Nascar-decal/202758170239?hash=item2f3554267f:g:uKIAAOSwFTddVshs
  5. Plastruct. It has a capillary effect. Touch it in the corners and it runs around the glass and it wont hurt the glass. And if you want to remove the glass at some point for a rebuild or change color just thump it real hard with a finger and it will pop right out without any damage to it. http://www.hobbylinc.com/plastruct-plastiweld-1-plastic-model-cement-00002?source=froogle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI19T5kc2V6gIVjYnICh2enQfnEAQYBCABEgKbT_D_BwE
  6. Sometimes. If you like you can take it off the sprue and fix it then paint it. Best thing I ever found was at Harbor Freight and Northern Tool and Equipment were locking clamps hemostats. Just leave something to clamp on to and paint away.
  7. Best way to do it is to paint everything while it's on the sprue. You can always touch it up at assembly. This way you wont miss any areas that need to be painted. And you can assemble it without any problems.
  8. Marty Robins was born in Glendale Arizona. The colors on his car are the colors of the state flag. Arizona's state flag is divided into two halves. The top half consists of thirteen alternating red and yellow rays which represent America's thirteen original colonies. Because Arizona is a western state, the rays shows a setting sun. The colors of the rays refer to red and yellow in the Spanish flags carried by Coronado when he came to Arizona in 1540. The bottom half of the flag is a solid blue field, the same color as the blue in the United States flag. A large copper colored star is superimposed in the center of the flag. This identifies Arizona as the largest producer of copper in the United States. In 1910, Col Charles W. Harris designed a flag for the Arizona Rifle Team when they attended the National Matches at Camp Perry. Arizona was the only team in past matches without a flag. The Harris flag was adopted in 1917 by Arizona's Third Legislature and was passed into law without Governor Thomas Campbell's signature.
  9. I noticed in your first list that the Daytona's don't have a vinyl top listed. All Daytona's and Super Birds have vinyl tops to hide the window plugs for the smaller rear windows on the factory cars. I recently got a 70 by accident, but I can't get into it. I just don't feel it. None of my favs ran it as a race car and only movie I can come up with is Dom's Charger from F and F. I may have to pass on it if I can't come up with a theme for it. lol
  10. The Hemi only comes in three colors. Street Hemi orange and Race Hemi orange, or Keith Black race blocks in stain black with bare aluminum heads.
  11. Looks great. I need a V6 for a race car and I can't quite seem to find the right size to make it fit or fill out the engine bay. I think you have inspired me to cut up a v8. Never even dawned on me to do that. I was just hoping to find the right part. Tires and wheels look great too.
  12. You could get that car with a 3.0L V6 car, but most were 2.2 and 2.5 with and without turbos. Fast cars too. I raced a turbo 5spd car with a big block T/A and we were neck and neck until I had to hit 5th gear and had no more power and he got me. lol Not my car though, cause mine would not have been stock. lol Cool idea on how to cut down that engine too.
  13. Ah, the second car with the small light. Liked it too. First one was a hard top with black wheel centers. They had a light soooo big that it hardly fit through the window and would dent the roof of the car. That's the one I'm working on now. And I got the big light too. lol
  14. I kinda work for the person that owns this one. Love that car. IT looks black until you get right up on it. IT color shifts in the light. Black, purple, and blues. Awesome machine. Much better than the black Bugatti he had before this one.
  15. I agree, I wont nothing to do with putting that into a wall. I got hit from behind one night and backed a dirt track car into the turn two wall, at the exit ,at almost a buck. I go by what my brother says, he said," I don't know how high it got off the ground, all I can tell you is that I could walk under it and I could not jump up and touch it." Last thing I remember was looking at something blue. Had to be looking at the roof. When I woke up the car was almost up against the wall just as the wall turns to make turn three. Not sure how I made it from two down the back stretch turn three. That's my worst tangle with a wall.
  16. WOW! That thing looks like a V8 powered go kart instead of a race car.
  17. Tire side wall too short, wheel dia. too big. Real cars don't handle well with that stuff on there. Doesn't look right either.
  18. Rear suspension is quite simple. Two leaf springs and an 8 3/4 Mopar axle with gear oil pump and cooler, and 2 shocks on each wheel. They did that because a single shock would over heat and cause the oil inside to foam. Two took the load better, made them last longer before they started to fade.
  19. Not a problem, just throwing it out there. Check e bay for cheap strings if you want to try them. Couple bucks last time I got a set. Just have to look.
  20. Thanks on the brake line idea. You can stretch out the outer core so the inner wire will show through for more realism too. I helped a friend string all of his guitars and got to keep all the strings. Plus you can get them off of e bay for just a couple dollars. Cheapest ones I could buy, after all you don't care about the sound quality or how long you can stretch them and keep em in tune. And they come in several diameters too. I think that pic is the cheap ones from e bay and shows what size each string is.
