To strip the body, use Super Clean. Find it in the auto section at Wal Mart in a purple bottle. It wont hurt the plastic at all. I've let them soak over night on hard stuff.

Oooh, I want those tweezers. lol I'll have to check out my local store. I use all sorts of plastic bags like that to retain parts and sometimes whole projects.

How to polish pot metal wheels?
dwc43 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Dremel, various Dremel bits, and your favorite polish. -
Good looking car. On a side note, real Mopar guys don't use traction or slapper bars on there race or street cars. IT wont allow the springs to work like they are engineered to do. But, it is a model after all, lol. Depends on how accurate you want to make it.

Yeah, it's costly. I couldn't find a complete kit when I was searching so I got a couple built kits to break down and rebuild. I'm working on that Jag scene and I have two bulldozers so I may try to create the end scene too. And those dozers and cheap either. At least they were complete new kits.

There was an old race car street car version of a Jag XKE that had a similar fin on it. I ran across one on e bay when I was doing the Jag from Vanishing Point.

I thought it looked pretty good to me. I own one of these Road Runners low mileage original show winning car. Only thing you got wrong in the writing portion is that these cars also came with the 360. And these cars were faster than the same year vette. Only thing that could outrun these trucks was the Little Red Express trucks cause they did not have the emissions to deal with. Not cat converters air pumps or anything like that. It's not your fault either, but the kit got the drivers side exh. manifold all wrong too. It's up swept like the old 70's 340 piece that went on the Duster.

1980's Pro Stock Cars...Magneto or Distributor?

Distributors with msd boxes. -
I saw that black Caddy when it used to sit outside in front of Johnny's house when I was a kid. There was no walls or gates or anything. My dad drive up in this circular drive and we looked but did not get out of the car. It was parked in the grass beside the drive in his front lawn.

Plum crazy purple with what interior color
dwc43 replied to Riley Customs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Plumb Crazy cars only had black interior from all the real cars I have seen and dealt with. Even my Moms Demon had black interior with PCP color. That's not PCP by the way. PCP is not metallic like yours. -
The Bee chassis works better due to how the firewall and fender wells are made on the Bee compared to the Charger. I already have one under the same car being built here, but it's just a mock up for now. I'll get to it in the future, I hope. lol

I have to agree with you there on both points.

Ahhh, the Hoosier wars, I remember that. Good dirt track tires, sorry ###### for asphalt tires though.

Jeff Gordon's 2002 Fireworks Monte Carlo
dwc43 replied to David Thibodeau's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Since DuPont sponsors and supplies all of Jeff's paint, it will have decals instead of a vinyl wrap. Some use wraps for speed and repairs and such. Some paint and decal. Some clear over decals for certain tracks and some clear the car and then decal for others. All cars are cleared and waxed unless they use wraps. Watch a night race and the paint and clear jobs really show up under the lights. -
other transmission for a top-fuel engine

Thanks for the kind words. I've been involved in some type of racing for years. Mostly prefer oval track or road courses though. -
other transmission for a top-fuel engine
dwc43 replied to fiatboy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Not familiar with the first one. The Lenco is a planetary trans used with manual or air shifters. Uses a timed clutch for launches. Used in Pro Stock and some street applications. The vette tranny wont hold up on an engine make a 1000 plus hp. Top fuel cars do not use transmissions. They use a timed multi stage clutch direct drive through a reverser so it can be backed up after a burn out. -
If you are asking about the header wrap, yes they do. Use it on more than just headers too. Try the no glue type medical tape that only sticks to itself. And just paint it dark tan or black. I have some, but it's green from the factory.

That's true if you do a full detail on it. After all, just check out the pic of the Ford engine and all the stuff draped over and around it.
-
I noticed that Ford engine only has one slot on each side. The Chevy usually has two on each side. They go right between the two cylinders in the front and between the two cylinders in the back since the plugs are between the first and second pipe header tube on the front and between the second to last and last header tube in the rear. If you look close at your covers, there appears to be a circle or indent in two places that can be drilled out to let the wires go through the shield.

Not a JG fan, but nice job there.
