New Revell NASCAR kits
Dave Van replied to martinfan5's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
And 80% of it is all new tooling......and unlike a 29 Ford kit......multi versions down the road are a lot tougher. (ie spreading tooling cost over 10 years) -

Well........this is not a 'one piece chassis, 3 part interior and a body' kit These snappers will have multi part chassis, engine and pretty complete roll cage. True.....some parts may be 'grouped' and some simplified.......but the label Revell has started 'Snap Tite MAX' should tell you they are not just aimed at kids. If these are as good as promised I'll build these over the 'glue' version.......stock cars are just bodies after 3 or 4 builds. -

Per Revell everything depends on sales......want a Toyota??? BUY......don'y say you are gonna pass on the Chevy and Ford then complain no Toyota......just sayin........first two go well........NASCAR wants to keep Toy happy......what do you think will happen? -
EXCELLENT!

Crown Vic a simplified kit that builds well and looks good. (no motor etc) 64 Dodge is very nice....much like a modern Revell or AMT kit.

As stated....no one answer. Best to ask about a specific kit.....

Well........I got a little upset when PETERSON museum itself had a American Graffiti display of all the 'star' cars and each had a Barris crest decal applied and some noise about Barris being involved.......which is incorrect as far as I have discovered. Still.......he did do a lot of work. RIP PS there was a thread on this topic

Dave Van replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Decent show tonight. I'd rank it at 3rd of the 3 shown so far.....but still decent. -
Nice clean builds in great colors!! Plus great seeing another Flock car....I did the decal art for that one. Ms flock was a neighbor of mine when I lived in Charlotte.

That kit came from an era when tooling was being cut up and modified to eliminate anything they could.......including positive locators. finished well considering what you started with.

NOW BACK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NICE PROGRESS!!!

As a owner of a few rarer collector cars.....I don't want to see GOOD cars cut up for a short lived movie carrer. But everything I read on the building of the Mad Max vehicles said they used cars that for the majority were junk. They WANTED junk as it was pre-weathered and dented!!! The Chevys for the War wagon were parts no one would try and save........I am sure some salvageable parts were used......and entire cars like 'Elvis; were complete road worthy cars that owners choose to sell.......but the vast majority was stuff I'd not tackle myself.

Nice work!!!! I own a 1/1 so just seeing someone build 'em.....COOL

Dave Van replied to Greg K's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

I was gonna do the R/W/B paint.....but I may have changed my mind. Not 100% sure now

What Happened to Critical Thinking?
Dave Van replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Just watch the film 'idiocracy' it is set some 100+ years in the future.....but will happen, is happening, much sooner.....sometimes it's good to be old. -
