When the Hobby Town franchise system was pitched to us many years ago at the RCHTA trade show we went and met with them. We had an established hobby shop already but the promises they made sounded good. But we said no thanks. The fees were high in our opinion. We knew the hobby biz very well so they couldn't help us there. And their advise and merchandising was not worth the fees either. I used to visit Hobby Town stores all over the county....all closed now and in major cities. I think their fee structure added to changes in the hobby added to lack of disposable income....perfect storm.
I wish Randys site was up.....know the answer is there!!!!!
It just seems there are too many odd things to make it real Petty Ent car.
Look at vintage pics......Petty cars were very 'clean' (minus decals) around the #43 and C pillar. And the modern tires are odd.
I can't say 100% either way!
COOL project!!! Not sure why the WB is a tiny bit different from Revell to JoHan......but not too hard to fix. The Revell kit opens up a number of conversions. Add the 72 rear bumper and alter the grille to the S&H and you get a 1973 notch. I want to build a Big Lebowski 4 door myself.
Pretty sure that's a Petty tribute car and not a vintage photo. I was working in and around NASCAR at the time and never saw the flipped paint scheme. Kyle did run a flipped scheme on the #42 at times.......but the #43 never did. This is a recent photo as 'Craftsman truck series' and 'Goodyear Eagle' are not 70's for sure. A cool car.....but not a authentic vintage racer IMHO.
I only use Walthers Solvaset on decals. Some claim it's to strong....used right never an issue. Walthers started making decals in 1930's and was the first to have a decal system. What will happen in your case........only one way to find out........
Long ago when the Fruit wagon was a very rare kit......but I wanted one...I built my own version.
I made it from a Paddy Wagon kit. The fruit and veggies are made from oven clay painted.
Easy to make.
I was watching that one...... And yes.....he gets more for other builds.....but they are often costly resin or rare kits and not $19 new kit. Good for him....I'd not pay it.
I just bought a spray can of Dupli-color magnesium. It is a little dark...but makes a great used mag color. Bonus was a big can was 99 cents at Ollies.
I did ask about the bed cover and clear bubble bed 'topper' and both will be back just as shown on box side.....which is finalized. I only have one kit with these but wanted to build with them.
I like the first episode......Jay was saying good things about first gen Mustangs (GT 350 main focus) and since I am in the middle of having my 66 Mustang 2+2 full resto I was happy for the positive press!!! I'll never sell my Mustang.....but nice to know what I am putting into is not a total waste of $$$. I'll check week 2 out.
I was privilege to meet the R2 guys Sat at NNL. I have talked and e-mail with John G for many years but never met. And all I can say is these guys are doing a great job. Deora is coming back with all the goodies like bubble back and bed cover!! John truly surprised me with a 'yellow' Kat from AMT for the help over the years.....really humbled me. God times now.....much more coming!!!!
